Another 240z article
Well, .. whatdoyaknow, I've received an answer from the author of the article !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Attached to it was quite a nice email from the magazine to him, suggesting he reply to me. UNFORTUNATELY, being an old fart who is just barely computer literate, I couldn't figure out how to attach the emails to this post, :stupid: :stupid: so I've sent them to Mike, asking him to do the honours for me. Sorry to keep you all in suspenders, Rick. :devious: :devious:

Another 240z article
Gareth and the rest of you, This is what I wrote. Being the owner of a "Refreshed" 260Z Sports Coupe, I found your article to be well written and informative. James Flett can be justly proud of his beautifully restored car. However, you may be interested to know that many members of the international Z Car community disagree with some of your comments regarding the history of the Z Car. Should you be interested in obtaining an entirely different point of view as to the developement of the 240Z, written by long standing and respected Z Car enthusiasts who have carried out their own investigation, I suggest you log onto www.zhome.com and scroll down the left hand side to "The True History Of The Z Car", paying particular attention to "The Goertz Myth". While I fully expect that you will completely disregard this email, placing it in the "It's a load of crap" file, as I believe many other Z Car authors have done, I hope you prove me wrong and do a little investigative journalism. Once again, I thoroughly enjoyed your article and was pleased to see it placed so prominently in this great magazine. Rick O'Brien. How's that?????????????? good enough????????? now let's wait and see IF I get an answer. Rick. :devious: :devious:

Randy, Had you taken the time to complete your details, e.g. what state you live in, it would make things a lot simpler to advise you as to where your nearest parts supplier is. kenz240z has completely wasted his time answering your query if you live on the other side of the continent. Z - 35 Years of Nissan's Sports Car
Alan, I have a book titled "Illustrated Encyclopedia Classic Cars" by Martin Buckley, Anness Publishing Limited, London. It too gives credit for the design of the Zed to Albrecht Goertz. Other books I have read, by various authors, also make the same claim. This subject has surfaced on many, many threads over time, always decrying the claim that Goertz designed the Zed. If that is incorrect, and you or anyone else can PROVE that it is, why haven't the various authors been contacted through their publishers and given the correct information or, at least, told where to find the correct information, so that future editions of the books could be corrected. Just wondering, Rick.

Datsun vs. Chevy
Jason, O.K, so he owns a beeeeautifully restored Ford. Mate, .. I couldn't care less if he owned a Corvette, a '74 Maserati Khamsin, a '59 Lotus Elite, a '64 Ferrari 275 GTB or a '67 Mazda Cosmo 110S, he'd still get the same answer from me. .......... PSS OFF. You say that you don't want to sell your Zed. THEN DON'T. You're giving me the impression that you're a bit unsure about owning a Zed. Ask him if his Ford or a Camaro can boast a similar illustrious history as your Zed. Is his ford considered to be one of the ten most important cars in the history of motoring as many motoring writers do the Zed?. Don't be gullible, stick to your guns and tell him to PSORF. 'Nuff sed. Rick. :devious: :devious:

Datsun vs. Chevy
G'Day there Jason, Sounds like your Camaro mate is one eyed and has tunnel vision as far as cars go. (There's a few like that here). O.K, you bought a Zed, for whatever reason. It has suffered at the hands of thieves. You would have had the same problem had you owned a Camaro. Ask your mate how much it costs HIM to fill the Camaro's tank and what mileage he gets per gallon, and compare it to your Zed, then suggest to him that perhaps he might be better off with a Zed. We Aussies have a saying that we use to people like your mate. PSS OFF. Rick. :devious: :devious:

How fast does a Z really go?
Hey there Lachlan, That photo reminds me of the tenements I grew up in, in Waterloo, Sydney, except they're in better condition. Tommo, I take my hat off to you mate. You'll always appreciate the things you EARN, more than that which you are given. Bill, I gave my son a Datsun Stanza as a graduation gift. He EARNED it by burning the midnight oil, studying for his degrees. It was a bit of a bomb, but roadworthy. He sure learned a lot about cars with that old bomb. Rick. :devious: :devious:

How fast does a Z really go?
Lachlan, Lachlan, Lachlan, Shame upon you for that statement. Believe it or not, this is the first time I've checked out this thread. What a load of CRAP !!!!!!! Regardless of your age, ... if you like to drive Zeds then, DO SO. There's no age limit on enjoying a Zed. Want a REAL hard luck story?........... When I was twelve I'd walk 5 miles (not kms), MILES, to the local garbage dump to collect parts for a push bike. Took months to get all the parts together. Painted a you beaut fire engine red (even the handle bars 'cause they were rusty). I'd only had it on the road for a week when some low down, ill bred mother stole the bloody thing. Then it was back to the garbage dump and bring home another frame, ...... next trip a wheel, .... then a set of brake cables and so on. Beat that !!!!. Rick. :devious: :devious:

Zeds cleaned up all the major placings in the East African Safari. :classic: Zeds blitzed the field in the Monte Carlo Rally. :classic: Zeds proved themselves in Australia's Southern Cross Rally. :classic: HMMM, Is it at all possible that the cars were specially set up for racing ?. :surprised I wonder if the DRIVERS had anything to do with the Zeds success. Rick. :devious: :devious:

z bodies
Hey there Donavan, We solved this problem a long time ago when I asked the same question. My "Precious" is a 8/74 260Z. The front indicators are below the bumper. She has the shorter rails. She's the last of the 240 bodies mate. You're welcome to check out my gallery. (Bear in mind that we drive on the RIGHT side mate, the negatives were not reversed). Rick. :devious: :devious:
