  1. My apologies for regurgitating an old thread but I want to add some info that might be of interest. Two days after my last post on this thread the damned rear carby began spitting fuel out the front again. Needless to say, that really P'd me off. The bloke from the carby shop was stumped for ideas at first but he came up with a suggestion that WORKED. I have a pair of 240Z carbies fitted to my 260Z. What we did was to remove the top of the 240Z fuel bowls, needles and seats and replace them with 260Z tops, needles and seats. Not only has it fixed the fuel leak, but I swear the engine is running smoother. Rick. :devious: :devious:

That's a good start mate, When's the next installment ?? You've already got us on the edge of our seats so please don't keep us waiting tooooooo long, huh ????? Rick. :devious: :devious:
  3. Bo, Gazza, Arne, Just thought I'd mention that I told the carby expert ( "X" is an unknown quantity and a "SPURT" is a drip under pressure) about setting the float 9/16 as per your posts and guess what???????? IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!! no more fuel pouring out of the front of the rear carby. Thanks all. Rick. :devious: :devious:
  4. Down here we call them MUD WASPS. Absolutely NOTHING is safe from them. I'm forever cleaning their nests out of the gaps in bricks, Barb told me today that there's a huge nest in the corner of a down pipe that will meet it's fate tomorrow, I often find the ferrule on one of my fishing rods plugged with mud and I once had to pull an old fashioned door lock apart to clear it of a nest. It doesn't surprise me at all that nests have been found inside an engine. Rick.

Congratulations on a job well done Matt. Those pics look great. Rick. :devious: :devious:
  6. Jeff, What about original wheels?. Are the ORIGINAL keys there? if so, get the locks as well. What's the interior rear plastic panels like?. Blokes in this club are often asking for them. Original radio, auto antena, wiper motor, choke lever, console switches, steering wheel, badges ...... the list is endless. Half your luck mate. Rick. :devious: :devious:
  7. G'Day Bo, Glad to hear you solved the problem. I've been wrestling with the same problem of fuel coming out of the front of the rear carby now for over three weeks. I tried everything I could think of, finally gave up and dropped the problem into the lap of a carby expert, and it's got him stuffed as well.:disappoin So far he's used three needles and adjusted the float, to no avail. We know it HAS to be a needle/float issue but, to be absolutely certain, when I've got the time I'm going to swap the float/needle setup between the carbies. If the front carby floods it'll verify the cause. Wish me luck. Rick. :devious: :devious:
  8. Mohamed, YOU have NOTHING to apologise for mate !!!!!!!!!!!! Rick. :devious: :devious:

Chang, If nobody here can help you, check with your local Nissan dealer. Show them the photo. They should be able to give you the paint code. It's a good idea to complete your details so we know where you are. That way it's possible to be more specific with assistance. Rick. :devious: :devious:
  12. Boy oh boy, I am sorely tempted to P.M. Mr. Salty Crackers. If he thinks Mohammed's spelling and grammar is bad, I wonder what he'd think of a dozen or so lines of good old Aussie slang. That'd be sure to send him around the twist. Mohammed, in the words of a very famous person, "Forgive him, for he knows not what he DO". OOPS, was that a grammatical error???????? O.K. Salty, we'll probably overlook this one, being a newbie and all, and forgive you. A humble aplogy WOULD be nice though. Rick. :devious: :devious:

Below is a list of estimated costs I saw in a repair shop. If it goes, Ping, Ping, Ping. = $350 Plunk, Ping, Plunk. = $500 Klunk, Ping, Klunk. = $1250 Thud, Klunk, Thud. = $2000 Clang, Thud, Klank.= $3250 Reminded me of my first car. Rick. :devious: :devious:

Huh??????????????? PAINT the holes closed ??? Just make sure that when the carpet goes in, you mark the spot directly over the holes and ensure that nobody puts any pressure on the spots with the heel of their shoe. Might as well bog the holes up. Rick. :devious: :devious:

Well now, Austen, I'm very pleased to hear that you had the maturity to do the bike training course. You have your license????? GREAT. Now all you need is EXPERIENCE. If obtaining a driver's license is as easy to get in the U.S. as it is here, then one years driving experience without a ticket or a prang is a damn good start. Cap it off with that Defensive Drivers Course mate. Rick. :devious: :devious:
  16. Had a similar problem a few years back. New in line filter, ....... problem fixed. Rick. :devious: :devious:

Hey there Will, Don't mean to hijack the thread but, ........................... Black rubber bumper strips?????? When I priced them, I figured I'd have to sell my ute to pay for them, so I went to the wreckers and, after wandering around for half an hour or so, discovered black rubber strips on Toyota (I think) car doors that are almost identical. Rather than glueing them on, I used existing holes to bolt them on, using chrome headed bolts. (Might show up in my gallery). Rick. :devious: :devious:

Well Dave, As the saying goes, you have to crawl before you can walk. I just feel that Austen was receiving information that he may not be ready for. Too much too soon can be very confusing. You know as well as i do that someone experiencing their first time behind the wheel can be very easily confused. I had more than my share of heart stopping experiences training novices to drive, especially in the old 2 1/2 ton Mk3's and 4's and the 5 ton F1's. Rather funny in retrospect but nearly a case of changing the underpants at the time. Rick. :devious: :devious:

Everyone seems to be overstepping the mark. With the exception of John Coffey's 8 points, Austen's questions were answered in the first few posts. To me, ... he comes across as a young bloke who may not have a lot of experience in driving at all, let alone in speed trials and what have you. Does he even have a licence yet??? Surely he needs to have gained SOME experience behind the wheel before he's ready for the track. Austen, enrol in a defensive driving course and, if there's a Z Car club in your area, join it. Rick. :devious: :devious:

Well now, Bruce, You HAVE been busy haven't you?. Double the fun and more rewarding having your son working beside you. Look forwars to your next update. Rick. :devious: :devious:
  21. Hey there Steve, Don'y get us wrong mate, we all appreciate you taking the time to inform us of your discovery, however, as has already been mentioned by others, the club CD is not only authorised by Nissan, it also helps the club financially. Thanks again, Rick. :devious: :devious:

  23. Hey Chris, Did you ever solve the problem of the song ??????? It seems obvious that the words "She's my woman and I ain't gonna let her go", would be the words for the last line of each verse or that of the chorus. That being the case, are you CERTAIN that "She's My Woman" is the song's title ?? Rick. :devious: :devious:

G'Day there Austen, Reference the Doubleing the clutch. You don't need to know how to do it in the Zed or any car with synchromesh. With the exception of racing/rally drivers, you'd generally find it's us old farts who cut their teeth on crash gearboxes that can double the clutch with ease. As has already been suggested, a defensive driving course is strongly recomended, possibly followed up with an advanced course. Rick. :devious: :devious:

Hmmmm, Maybe it's an Oz thing, but my 8/74 260Z has the perforations in the back AND behind the seats. Rick. :devious: :devious:
