Food for thought.
What hair colour do they put on the drivers licences of bald men . I was thinking about how paople seem to read the Bible a whole lot more as they get older; then it dawned on me; they're cramming for their final exam. I thought about how mothers feed their babies with tiny little spoons and forks, so I wondered what do Chinese mothers use? TOOTHPICS !!! You never really learn to swear until you learn to drive. Ever wonder what the speed of lightning would be if it didn't zig zag.

Isn't making a smoking section in a restraunt like making a peeing section in a swimming pool?. If 4 out of 5 people SUFFER from diarrhea does that mean that one ENJOYS it ?? If a pig loses it's voice, is it disgruntled Why isn't the number 11 pronounced onety one. If lawyers are disbarred and clergymen defrocked, shouldn't it follow that electricians can be delighted, musicians denoted, cowboys deranged, models deposed, tree surgeons debarked, and dry cleaners depressed / If Fed Ex and UPS were to merge, would they call it Fed Up ?? Mine explosion
Like Dave, I can't see the sense in living in an area surrounded by eucalypt trees growing close to the house. However, those living in such an area are not permitted to clear the land around their homes. I seem to remember how one bloke, whose home was spared by the flames while his neighbours lost everything was issued a fine for having cleared combustible material from around his home, which was instrumental in his home not going up in flames. I wonder who forced through such rediculous legislation that disallows such obvious precautions. Rick.

How do those dead bugs get into those enclosed light fixtures. In winter, why do we try to keep the house as warm as it was in summer when we complained about the heat. How important does a person have to be before they are considered assassinated instead of just murdered. Once you're in heaven, do you get stuck wearing the same clothes you were buried in for eternity. Rick.

Mine explosion
Your absolutely right Brian, The "Greenies" have a lot to answer for; The Victorian bushfires because controlled burns to remove deadfall and builtup flammable material was not allowed just for starters; and now this mining disaster. If they'd allowed open cut mining there'd be 29 men alive today and their families would noty be grieving. Rick.

Mine explosion
Good grief !!!! A THIRD explosion today. That's one bloody dangerous mine. Rick.

Why do they use sterilized needles for death by lethal injection. Why doesn't TARZAN have a beard. Why does Superman stop bullets with his chest, but ducks when the revolver is thrown at him. How come you never hear father in law jokes. The statistics on sanity is that one out of every four persons is suffering from some sort of mental illness. Think of your three best friends--- if they're O.K. then it's YOU.

Mine explosion
A terrible tragedy Brian. The mine being filled with Methane most likely would have killed them prior to the second blast. Three of my mates are miners at one of the mines out Blackwater C.Q. way. I'll never rib them about being paid more than they are worth again. Rick.

If you have sex with a prostitute against her will, is it considered to be shoplifting?. If a deaf person goes to court, should it still be called a hearing?. Do the Alphabet song and Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star have the same tune?. Why did you just try singing the two songs above?. If the Professor on Gilligan's Island can make a radio out of a coconut, why can't he fix the hole in the boat?. Why is "Bra" singular and "Pants" plural.

clunking rearend
It might appear to be coming from the left rear but don't count on it. Sounds can travel. Is there any play in the UJ where the spline goes into the diff?. I had that problem with an old '63 Holden. If you've double checked the torque on all bolts and still get the "Clunk" when you take your foot off the pedal, I'd be inclined to check for play in the drive shaft UJ's.

What is youir favorite driving music-if you don't see it, post it!
I thought I'd add my two cents worth with some songs that will stir up the memory banks of all the other old farts like me. How about; Trans Canada Highway and Last Exit To Brooklyn and Twenty Four Hours From Tulsa and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance by Gene Pitney. Twentieth Century Drifter by Marty Robbins Forty Hour Week and Ride TheTrain by Alabama. Six Days On The Road by Dave Dudley. Forty Miles Of Bad Road, (instrumental) by Duanne Eddy. Truck Drivin' Outlaw by Dennis Olson. Runaway by Del Shannon. The Night Has A Thousand Eyes by Bobby Vee. And a couple of hundred more from that era. Rick.

Fuel Pouring out of front Carb
Just to get this thread back onto the ORIGINAL question, when you take the top off the carby, look for any tiny black bits in the bottom of the bowl. If the rubber fuel lines are as old as the car, the inside of the hoses could be breaking down. Happened to me with the rear carby. New fuel lines fixed the problem. Rick.

Advice needed
I need to replace the drivers door window winding mechanism. I have strong doubts that I will be able to source a NEW Datsun part and I don't want a USED part as it will no doubt suffer from wear and tear. I'm hoping that one of you Zed Car Gurus would have solved the problem. Rick.

Debris in Carb
Sounds very much like a problem I had. The filter wasclean but black specks kept appearing in the rear carby. Installed new rubber fuel lines and haven't had the problem since. Rick.

Bungee jump.
I suspect the jumper leaves with less than he enters. (Hope this works). Damn. Didn't work. I'll ask Will to upload it for me. By the way, there's absolutely NOTHING funny about it. Rick.

Jokes
Hmmm, Might need to explain this to Bill. A helicopter loses power over a remote Scottish Island and makes an emergency landing. Luckily, there's a cottage nearby, so the pilot knocks on the door. "Is there a mechanic in the area?" he asks the woman who answers. She thinks for a minute. "No, but we do have a McArdle and a McKay". A woman was pregnant with twins. Shortly before they were due, she was in an accident and went into a coma. Her husband was away on business, unable to be reached. While in the coma, she gave birth, but the only person around to name them was her brother. When she came to and discovered she had given birth and her brother had named the babies, she freaked out, as he wasn't too bright. She asked him thier names. "Well, .. the first was a girl. I named her Denise," he said. The woman sighed with relief. Then he said, "the second was a boy, so I called him Denephew". Rick. :devious::devious::devious:

Sould I add pearl or not?
I had gold pearl added and I couldn't be happier with it. In the shade it's just a nice paint job but in the sun, .... man does my "Precious" sparkle. The bloke who did the paint job for me gave me the left over paint "just in case it was needed". Rick.

WTF happened to HLS30.COM
Hey there Will, If you plan a trip "Down Under", you can play with "Precious". I'm sure I can find a dozen or so things that need fixing. Rick.

A good magnet, wrapped in cloth so as to not damage the paintwork will uncover any areas of bog.

Thanks Bart, Much appreciated. Rick.

Windscreen Wipers.
Quite some time ago there was a very detailed thread on the upgrading of those very S L O W wipers in Zeds. I've tried the search without success so I'm hoping one of the club's gurus can point me in the right direction. A low depression travelling south along the Queensland coast is dropping heavy falls of rain and the wipers on poor old "Precious" can't cope. Rick.
