A man who lived in a block of apartments thought it was raining and leaned out the window to check. As he did so, a glass eye fell into his hand. He looked up to see where it came from, to see a young women looking down. "Is this yours?" he asked. She said, "Yes, could you bring it up?" and the man agreed. On arrival, she was profuse in her thanks and offered him a drink. As she was very attractive, he agreed. Shortly afterwards she said, "I'm about to have dinner. There's plenty. Would you like to join me?". He readily accepted her offer and both enjoyed a lovely meal. As the evening was drawing to a close the lady said, "I've had a marvelous evening. Would you like to stay the night?". The man hesitated then said, "Do you act like this with every man you meet?". "No", she replied, "Only those who catch my eye". Rick. :devious::devious:

Well now......, Ever since this thread started, I've been wracking this worn out old brain of mine, trying to remember the particular model of the Renault marque that a mate of mine had WAAAAY back in the early 60's. It was a bloody tiny little thing with a sloping back, rear engine I think. Compared to that little Renault, a Zed has PLENTY of room. I was on my back on the rear seat, with my knees against the side window and my head against the other side of the car. The young lady, (whose name has disappeared into the dark recesses of my foggy memory), was actually leaning over the front seats in order to obtain the required position. My mate was no better off. In the front were these tiny little bucket seats that he couldn't lay back because I was in the way. We Aussies can be pretty determined buggers when we set our minds to a problen though. Difficult situations make us all the more determined to rise to the occasion. The mission was accomplished. Rick. :devious::devious:

The fires have been headline news down here in Oz. Talk about devastaion !!!!!!!. Those 100 mile an hour winds would be carrying embers for miles, some starting spot fires. During our last bush fire season, there was a T.V. ad that simulated an ember travelling miles, blown by the wind, and landing on a house front verandah, on a coir "welcome" mat, resulting in the house burning. Make sure the guttering is clean, the surrounding area is cleared of combustibles, have your car/s packed and ready to go at a moments notice. Don't take chances you blokes in the effected areas, I'd really like to read your next post instead of an obituary. I'm thinking of you. Rick.

A short explaination is needed here. We Oz blokes have a saying, used when someone makes a statement that is obviously wrong; "YOU DON'T KNOW JACK SCHITT", meaning, "You don't know what you're talking about". So,....... For some time, many have wondered just who Jack Schitt is. Well, thanks to my genealogy efforts, I have found the Jack Schitt family tree. Jack Schitt is the only son of Awe Schitt. Awe Schitt, the fertilizer magnate, married Oh Schitt, the owner of Needeep N. Schitt, Inc. They had one son, Jack. In turn, Jack married Noe Schitt, The deeply religious couple produced six children; Holie Schitt, Giva Schitt, Fulla Schitt, Bull Schitt and the twins, Deep Schitt and Dip Schitt. Against his parents objections, Deep Schitt married Dumb Schitt, a high school dropout. After being married fifteen years, Jack and Noe Schitt divorced. Noe Schitt later married Ted Sherlock, and, because her kids were living with them, she wanted to keep her previous name. She was then known as Noe Schitt Sherlock. Meanwhile, Dip Schitt married Loda Schitt and they produced a son with a rather nervous disposition named Chicken Schitt. Two of the other six children, Fulla Schitt and Giva Schitt, were inseparable throughout childhood and subsequently married the Happens brothers in a dual ceremony. The wedding announcement in the newspaper announced the Schitt-Happens nuptials. The Shitt-Happens children were Dawg Schitt-Happens, Byrd Schitt-Happens and Hoarse Schitt-Happens. Bull Schitt, the prodigal son, left home to tour the world. He recently returned from Italy with his new Italian bride, Pisa Schitt. Now, if someone says to you, "You don't know Jack Schitt", you can correct them. Sincerely, Crock O. Schitt. Rick. :devious::devious:

Bill and his mate were out of work and were strolling past a shoe shop when they spotted a pair of crocodile skin shoes in the window. "Bloody heck!" said Bill, "Will you look at the price on them!!, I tell you what mate, there's money to be made in that business, no mistake". So they decided to go up North and shoot a few crocs for a living. They had it really rough for a whole week, wading through the mangrove swamps, and being eaten alive by mossies and leeches. But they bagged quite a few crocs. By the weeks end they had run out of ammo, but they kept at it, taking on the crocs by hand. Come Saturday morning, they were both in a terrible state. After one particularly vicious battle with a big old croc, Bill had just about had enough. "This is no good", Bill told his mate, "If the next one's not wearing shoes, I'm going home". Hey there Arne, Personally, I like cats, it's just Topsy and Cricket that hates them. Prior to getting my two girls, we had a huge Tabby, similar to Tuvok, but with more white on the face and belly. His name was Tiger and certainly lived up to the name. His favorite pastime was to sit on the corner post of the front fence. Any dog that decided to lift it's leg on the post would suddenly find a fury from hell perched on it's back being raked with claws and teeth. After the attack, Tiger would resume his position on top of the post. He lived to a ripe old age of about 18 but was a bit slow crossing the road one night. We buried him in the back yard and planted a bush over him. Rick.

I'D like to introduce you to my two girls, Topsy and Cricket Topsy's the fat one on the left. Anyone ever asks me if they're Jack Russells, I say NO !! they're mine. Topsy is the more inteligent of the two and sticks her nose into everything. Whatever I might be doing, she's there supervising me to ensure it's done correctly. I'm convinced that with just a little training, she'd be able to tell the difference between a half nine open ender and a shifter. Then there's Cricket. Now, I try not to show favoriteism as they're a pair of jealous buggers but I have to admit that Cricket has a special place in my heart. She's a real clown; smiles, dances, hops like a kangaroo and loves to run just for the heck of it. I call her the TART, (Prostitute) because, being a very affectionate dog, if you rub her chest, she'll roll onto her back for a tummy rub. Believe it or not, Jack Russells are hunters, bred for rats and rabbits and absolutely HATE cats. (Sorry Arne). During a recent visit by my son and his family, my son had been out jogging and was followed home by a dog that looked like a german shepherd crossed with some thing else that decided to jump the fence, following my son. Topsy spotted it first and got stuck in to the dog that was at least four times as big. Cricket heard the commotion and came running. without hesitation, she bored in hitting the poor, confused animal in the shoulder, nearly knocking it off it's feet. Being harrassed by a pair of fireballs with teeth, the dog decided that discretion is the better part of valour, the dog jumped back over the fence and I haven't seen it since. So, if you're looking for a dog that's small, inteligent, affectionate, loyal yet fiercely protective with the heart of a lion, you couldn't go past a Jack Russell. Rick.

Hey there Will, The two plastic Z kits are by FUJIMI. The open bonnet,(hood), on the white one is courtesy of a thin, sharp blade and my steady hand. The front and rear mods of the dark one, (actually a dark bronze metalflake that doesn't show up too well in the pics), are mine, canibalised from another kit. (Might have been a Pontiac but I'm not sure). All told, there's 23 models finished and one still in the box waiting for me to get around to it. Fords, Chevs, corvettes, Chryslers etc., mainly by Revell/Monogram and ATM. Hey George me old mate !!!! Where have you been hiding ????? Those little metal Zeds from Hot Wheels have me wondering why the rear wheels are bigger than the front wheels. Hi there Sailor, I just thought i'd be different with black and grey interior. No doubt about you Will, You must have a bloody good memory and like my jokes. They're held on by the little clips that fit into the window channel, with a small nut and bolt onto the plastic. Easy to take off, no glue or double sided tape etc. Your comments leads me to think that such things are not used all that much over there. Those thin, narrow bits of plastic you refer to are about as much use as a hip pocket in a singlet. Standing at the front of "Precious" and looking down the side of the car, it does not extend out as far as the rear view mirror or the door handle. I've always had them fitted to every car I've owned. They cut down the wind to the extent that my hair doesn't get mussed up. They're also very handy in light rain, allowing the windows to be half way down. (Or half way up, depending on how you look at it). When I finally get around to fitting the weathershield on the passenger side, (your dvrs side), I'll try taking pics from the front and rear view. Rick. :devious::devious:

Yair Carl, I'll let you know how well they work mate. Problem is, I'll have to wait until next time it rains and around this neck of the woods only the Big Bloke upstairs knows when that'll be. It certainly cuts down on the wind though. Rick. :devious::devious:

Well, here we go, Some time ago, I mentioned that, with the help of Kiwi Mike, I had found a firm that supplies weathershields for Zeds. I purchased one for either side. That was a few weeks ago. I finally got around to fitting one to the dvrs side, (your passenger's side), and hope to post them here. As I've only fitted one side, I've taken a couple of pics of the unfitted one as well. I've got a new, high tech scanner/copyer that does just about everything but put the cat out at night and I'm still learning how to use the damned thing so, .... here goes. Rick.

  25. It was 1965. The scene was a back street of Saigon. Four Oz soldiers staggering along, arms around shoulders, supporting each other 'cause we were pi*ssed out of our tiny brains when we came across a tattooist's shop. It was decided to all get a tat. The other three did, I waited outside. Couldn't see the sense in having something painted on me that I couldn't wash off later. Every reunion since, the other three complain about the "damned things" and I'm blamed for not having talked them out of it. They all habitually wear long sleeved shirts. (With just the cuff rolled up). Now, .... I'm not saying that my bod is totally unblemished. Apart from the scars from a few operations, the scars made by a very sharp, pointed blade makes for far more interestng story telling that a tat. Rick. :devious::devious:
