  1. Not enough to justify the cost and time put into it. I have maybe 4 months driving season up here and last year I think I put 300 miles on it. So sad.....
  2. I have a series 1 wiper motor that works if you are interested. It is in "as-pulled" condition and it needs a new connector and a little cleaning but it does work on both speeds. PM me if interested. Also, they occasionally show up rebuilt on ebay for around $300.00. Not sure if they are series 1 though. John

What gets me is something I saw on CNN earlier this week. It goes something like this: "After 4 days Japan relief aid totals $12 million; After 4 days Haiti relief aid totals 100 Million....." Somethings not right.

Thanks coyze. I am still up in the air as to what I want to do, but I need to do something soon. The car is just about done minus the shiny bumpers.
  5. I never received an answer to this question. Ended up buying the Precision seals. They fit better but the doors still dont shut "easily". Hoping after sitting for the winter they will compress a little. John

You don't want to come here. This place is going to the dogs. If it does happen and you do decide to drive here would you please wave to me as I pass you on my way to Australia....
  8. 4 screw carbs? What's the VIN?

I am still trying to get the answer to a question about these bumpers, maybe Ron or Coyze could answer it now. I noticed that these bumpers DO NOT come with the over riders. I want over riders to keep the stock look so I will need to use Chrome over riders. My question is this: If you had a fairly new chrome bumper and a polished stainless bumper next to each other could you tell the difference? Thanks (bumpers look great by the way) John
  10. "It's not cheap, but I'm sure the government will buy it." Ain't that the truth. John

It's all in the spreadsheet..... http://www.editgrid.com/user/mlwilliams/Z_Car_Registry
  12. Looks great Mike. Single stage or B/C? Did you repaint the interior and underside too? John

+1 for Carl's suggestion. Wire transfers, bank to bank, into a new account. From there you can log into your online banking account and move it to your "regular" account. The purchaser will never know your regular account number and your bank will be able to tell you when it has "cleared". Best of all, it has most of the benefits of using an escrow account without the fees. John

So, how does the color and shine compare with actual chrome? If they were sitting side by side would you be able to tell the difference? Also, did they sell you the uprights? I'm not sure I saw them on the auction page. Not sure the bumpers would match the uprights if they were chrome and the bumper was SS. John
  15. C'mon Mike, everything he sells is "NOS" and "A must for your restoration". You can't get parts like that from Nissan ;-) John
  16. Did they even issue salvage titles in 1972-73? EDIT: Should have read the entire thread. The rest was irrelavent at this point.
  17. When I drove the Z this fall I remember how she loved those crisp mornings in the 40's. Seemed like she would pull stronger and was able to rev it out a little longer. Hot engines love cool weather.

Just a heads up. When you call Tabco to order the price will be higher. He says he hasnt updated his online pricing since 2003.

If you are talking about the steel just below the holes in the picture you might have to have that fabricated. If you are talking about the finishers that cover those up, they are available from courtesyparts.com for around 30 bucks. John

Not sure what you're talking about. Would love to help you out.

Kurt, You sold me a set of Series 1 guages on ebay a while back. I still have them all (and a few more sets now). Let me know if you need the tach. John
  22. +1 on rust in exhaust. Experienced that first hand.

Yeah, I searched pretty hard for a decent 14" performance tire. I read in another (of the many!) tire thread here that a few people were happy with the performance of these. They corner well but the sacrifice is that they are very soft. With the way I like to corner I am sure I will be rotating them often. They are non-directional too. I ruled out "all season" as soon as I figured out I could still purchase performance in 14". You might want to see if they are discontinuing these from the manufacturer. Might be worth while to snag a set before these too are NLA. John

I went with these: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Sumitomo&tireModel=HTR+200&partnum=97HR4HTR200&vehicleSearch=true&fromCompare1=yes&autoMake=Datsun&autoYear=1970&autoModel=240Z&autoModClar= and am very happy with the purchase. I "negotiated" with my local Discount Tire manager and he agreed to order them in for me and charged me $72.00 mounted and balanced. At that time Tire Rack wanted $58 each plus shipping. They are not rated for driving under 40 degrees but that is not a problem up here. My car is in storage by the time it hits 40. They grip well and are reasonably quiet. Looks like they are on closeout at TR right now.
  25. My condolences go out to you and your family. Any day we lose a Z fan is very sad day indeed. He knew what he was doing when he passed the Z on to you.
