Sneak peak of the 2009 370Z
...If any recent Z design is considered fail, by that token the Charger/Challenger got lost on the way to the test... (with, god willing most anything else Chrysler makes nowadays). I'm glad that on reading that article there is no evidence of anyone contemplating a Z that has anything to do with Mopar. I prefer the teaming of Nissan with Renault, who at least occasionally stab at innovation, goddammit (and symbiotically, Nissan is probably actually helping Renault make a few of those innovations actually WORK )

Z Car Hell Uncovered
Hah, at least I get the feeling in the Georgia climate they'll at least rust away and disappear someday, solving that problem... in CA desert cars stick around forever (and are actually very, very cool when found) I found a mummified Rover SD1 in Joshua Tree

Sneak peak of the 2009 370Z
The grille on that intrigues me, the upright old Z cabin does nothing for the modern styling cues though... It looks like one of those Soviet cars where they've only updated/modernized the face since 1950. The rest of that concept is pure cartoon as far as I'm concerned. A few days ago I think Jalopnik or Autoblog published some freeway shots of a near undisguised mock-up, and then quickly took them down It had the same rear window treatment as everything seemed to say it would, as well as apparently maxima styled front/rear lights. The flares were WAY bigger...

If you're up for it I will buy you a beer one of these days, I recall you saying you intended to head down to Murrieta for the opening of the Datsun Museum, I was thinking about going too, but don't let that scare you away I'm not the biggest participator here, in terms of social or technical aspects of the site, but my point is that an increase in social activity would increase our level of community here... As it is, activity here is a bit on the slow side, I think.

Z Car Hell Uncovered
I like the ordnance of being able to not have "junk" cars diminishing property values, but had I written the code, that category would be specifically confined to late model SUVs

...I wasn't referring specifically to that thread actually. Generally this forum hasn't seemed so friendly to newcomers in general (many "introduction" threads go completely bypassed, with no one sticking out a hand to shake), and the "use the search engine" mentality as mentioned is indeed present... Perhaps people are tired of talking about the same old, but with a 40 or so year old car, that's what the forum exists for (not like much new is happening in terms of Z maintenance) and often that attitude comes across as offputting. For those offenses, no one can particularly have blame... It's true that this forum's social side is surprisingly slow to me, and maybe that's fueled my impression... It's surprising to me especially in the light of the fact that this site has every other topic completely covered, and you'd think there'd be a more fraternal aspect by now that maybe I just don't see. I'm not trying to get on your bad side, Steve (after all, you live so close to me ), nor was I trying to single you out; on the contrary, as above when members read my post they seem to think of you as the one who is the exception, however I didn't understand a couple of your posts in the shout box

Modern Classics, opinions?
Chrysler 300 (blecch, but probably) Bling SUVs (they'll be period pieces, because god willing, in 5 years there will be no more of them) Prius/Insight etc. Civics/Integras (like 55 Chevies... In all states) RX7/RX8 Supra, AWD Eclipse, other "good" ricer cars... 350Z

This might help some people
...I took up to level 3 at college and keep telling myself to take a few more classes or something, as I love languages in general, specifically Japanese. I keep myself fresh by translating random websites/manga coolest.com has an excellent, free kanji lookup/dictionary utility... But as I discovered, nothing beats a good teacher I should search my Z for text to translate, .

...I couldn't bring myself to wade through the above mess after a while... In any case, because the avenue has been opened, this forum seems to have a host of very friendly, knowledgeable people, and many rather more vicious, yet knowledgeable people who have probably chased off many men from participating on this site, let alone women, and likely account for the meeker demeanor of a few of the more jolly types here. A sense of humor seems to be lacking in many cases... Why should we be so uptight when we drive such relaxing/cheap to maintain cars as Zs As for the "Welcome to the Internet" comment, this is probably the forum I've been to that feels least like it, for the good and the bad... This place almost seems like an island where internet rules don't apply... Not that I'm threatening to leave or anything

Favorite Z body mods?
...Well, I left it vague, so that people could then be lead to discussion . Personally I enjoy the idea of many of the above mods, but couldn't bring myself to touch the body of my car with anything pointier than a towel, so they're a no go.

...The "Anyone want a beer?" thread (SoCal)
I might be the only person here who actually likes 350Zs I nearly brought myself to wave to the NISMO that was behind me during my commute Gladly You'll be accepted because otherwise, I'd probably have to buy the first (75, me). Perhaps if everyone posted their location, we could then figure it out from there... San Dimas always seems to be a central place...

Repro headlight covers
WOW, thanks Carl I like the Bezel, and lean towards liking the smoother look of the OEMs... I imagine the smoother cover would cancel out a bit of the blockier look of the front of a 280...

Favorite Z body mods?
Haha, it appears that everyone has arrived at their conclusions and voted largely without the need for debate, which is actually refreshing once you think about it... The Z is a car that does lend itself to modification, though oddly (and I haven't voted in my own poll), I always tend to enjoy the looks of stock cars most... To each their own is the principle though

Sacramento Area Carbo Load and Chat Session...
...I grew up largely in Folsom, the zoo is largely impressive, the animals have it easy compared to the prison down the street Actually I bought my Z in Auburn... But I'm in Riverside now Got back from a brief visit to my parents a few weeks ago and sorta wished I could still be, maybe it's time for a move... I'd miss SoCal though, but not Riverside. That's the problem

Favorite Z body mods?
Decided a little sounding board on how people feel about common Z mods might be interesting What does everyone think looks best? Select all that apply... The one that taxes me most is the G-nose, which from some angles looks great and from others makes the car look like a Kiwi (bird), with an excessively long nose. And occasionally the bumper not being chrome really bugs me, but it bugs me a lot less if the car has black, bolt on flares as a G would have... Also I've noticed that on cars with a G nose, there's always an excessive gap between the hood and the kit... Though I'm sure the G nose is great for aerodynamics... Maybe people should post pics and convince me to like it The two things that ALWAYS seemed to be changed on Zs that are relatively unmolested survivors even, is the valence and wheels. As much as I like the stock 240-280 hubcaps, it's hard to argue that almost any Z improves from the addition of slot mags or minilites On the other hand, air dams create the appearance of a nose which droops lower than the rest of the body, which REALLY bugs me (the addition of a sill kit fixes that problem but visually causes others IMO...), I think I'm ok with the older subtle, slightly flared air dams though... The air dams on cars never seem to be painted either, which is kind of nice actually (it hides them). Of course here there's a functionality aspect as well... I'm ambivalent on clear headlight covers... If I was building a Z from scratch it'd likely have covers and a JDM grille (the one that looks like it's made of tubes and mesh, as on Kats' 432), but oddly I have almost no desire to add these to my own car... Rear window louvers don't bother me, but I know some people really hate them. As for converting 280s/60s to look like 240s, I'm for that, but think some 280s should survive in stock form for posterity I'll keep my 280's bumper, but if someone stole it off of my car (god forbid), a 240's would be purchased in lieu. So... what do people think makes a Z look better? (I forgot to include suspension height as an option and won't edit again: I almost always think lower is better)

Repro headlight covers
Ok, so the style of repro ring you had wouldn't fit the car, but the lens would, eh... In any case, they look great, and my feelings are usually divided on whether I like headlight covers or not. ...I have no idea how on topic this is... But yours seem to be of a different style than the ones I typically see, with harder edges, as per this: Which typically come with no mounting rings, but a rubber seal allegedly to be affixed with 3m tape. Which would be the route I would take, as there's no way I'm drilling into my car. Though admittedly, the chrome rings on yours do sorta make the car... (I'm assuming those are the original, optional style... am I right?) How well do the above style fit? Perhaps owners of both styles could post pics and inspire me?

Junkyard & "Out to Pasture" Zs
...I just noticed, the yellow 280's homemade buttress/tunnel window conversion looks like a fat chick spreading her legs and is ridiculous. I'm surprised it wasn't stuffed in the yard for rear end damage, considering the probable impediment to seeing backwards in general. But it's unique and stupid enough that I'd almost keep it, were I restoring the car, and just say goodbye to luggage utility. Something tells me that a spoiler at the rear would hide a lot of the ugly in the conversion...

Office Tomitaku S30Z
I prefer the overriders, but dislike black strips... Though either are preferable to black overriders

Datsun-240z Vs Fairlady-z432
Mo Val, eh? I'm right by March I'm telling you this so that if you see anyone trying to steal my hubcaps off my 280, you'll feel obliged to stop them

Junkyard & "Out to Pasture" Zs
haha, I DON'T want to be remembered. As for P-bucket going down, I find that embedded pictures in tags are worth any potential headache, if and when it does. Plus I have contingencies anyway for my pics hosted on it... I suppose in the long term it's a better idea to put pics on atatchments rather than linking from random pages, but Photobucket's been good to me
-
Finish it... time to enjoy now
Wow, sharp... Enjoy! For some reason the spoiler really works with/makes that... I usually dislike them.

Junkyard & "Out to Pasture" Zs
uggh, why do all you people post your pics as attatchments and make me log in to see them Oh well, now that I am, I'll just link to this thread I made a long arse time ago. In retrospect now that I'm being all gay for format, I probably could have sized them to stretch the screen less, but hey, who wants to miss a few more millimeters of that goodness. Z car hell.

Thread meandering-no real Z content, but Socializing is important too!
You'd think this was a forum for Iroc Zs, or maybe rusty panel Econoline vans

They are going to tow my Z!! Part 2
...I don't think "these days" is usually an option when it comes to shop classes in High School, . I had a Camaro in HS, but it was a 98 V6. At least it was a stick It was also something like British Racing Green, don't ask. Not a bad car for a high schooler at all actually (fairly new, chrome wheels, the "sweet" factory monsoon sound system etc.), but its pretense of being a performance car was a bit short... Floaty, did funny things when you stepped on the brakes depending on the situation, I could be flat out in it and there was none of that uncomfortable head snapping back I enjoyed being a stereotypical Camaro slimeball though But by that time, birth control had been initiated by GM; the back seat was far too small to neck in The build quality wasn't so bad (if plasticky inside and out), it killed a clutch slave cylinder at one point but that's about all the trouble I had... I almost wish I had kept that car longer, it's probably good that I had that car at that point instead of a Z
