Started this thread on the 510 forum and have been getting quite a few cool responses and posts. Plus some history of how members became fans of their current Datsun models. I don't have a Z but I will be 30 in May Pretty much grew up around Datsuns as my dad (Diseazd) built more S30's and 510's than I can count. And yes..... one day I will buy a 240

Body Paint in areosol??
I wouldn't clear the head. My machine shop told me to use Minwax satin clear urethane on the aluminum parts that have been cleaned and blasted. You can get it at Lowe's. I did that on my 510 valve cover, timing cover, etc. and it looks great. Does not yellow with hear either. I wouldn't clear over single stage. What's the point? Then you might as well do base/clear. I would also worry about problems with laying clear over single stage. The compunds may not be happy together and you could get lifting or crinkling. Not fun

With your silver car, I would go gunmetal. if your rear tail section is gunmetal, try and match that color. Just my $.02

MSA spook pictures
I have been trying to tell people that on multiple forums. if you embed a picture with html using flickr on here they still show up. If someone uses photoshop, I can't see them. Flickr is much better for workplaces that have hefty firewalls. Flickr kicks photobuckets arse then sleeps with his girlfriend.

MSA spook pictures
I took all the photos of my dad's cars (Diseazd) You can see them on my flickr. http://www.flickr.com/photos/14049800@N00/ You will have to go to the sets on the right hand side. Near the bottom is says view all sets. Click that. I can't get on flickr from work so I don't have the direct link.

paint problems
if the car has been painted several times and you aren't taking it to metal you should probably spray it with a sealer/primer. That will create a barrier b/t the two compounds and create a fresh surface to shoot. If not you run the risk of lifting or crinkling the new finish. Which is a nightmare to deal with.

Removing Overspray From Interior Plastic/Panels
I would use fast evap pre-cleaner for automotive painting. Great stuff for overspray!!! It is used to wipe down a car just before painting.

Price per Pound Contest
How long do we have to wait to find out and what does the winner get ???

Door Seals question...
My dad (Diseazd) ordered the 280 seals from Nissan. Our go-to parts guy at Nissan said they would work perfectly.

Hood hinges and rods
You can trust Kats, Carl Beck, Geezer and HLS30. In no particular order I imagine one of them will respond soon enough. Kats website is a great resource for seeing what the original car had. I believe his resto's are some of the best out there. http://www.geocities.jp/datsunz903/
