  1. **I am in no way associated with this seller, just found it on local CL** Pretty decent looking White '72 240 in Ferndale, WA. $2750 http://bellingham.craigslist.org/car/589057996.html Thought it might interest someone.
  2. The doors were pre-cut by the PO.
  3. New head unit is here! Until now I've been using a loaner Kenwood unit, but my new Sony CDX-GT720 arrived today and I can't wait to install it. Pictures soon!

Here's the tag: You can clearly see it says "Down Town DATSUN" and made in Japan. Were these made specifically for the Seattle dealership? That would be cool, as I don't know where my Z was originally sold, I thought it was California. But Seattle is only an hour away.

For anyone who's wondering what the windbreaker looks like, here's a picture: Mine is much too small for me, it would fit someone about 5'5-5'7 great (I'm 6'3).

I finally pulled all of the stuff out of the boxes, to catalog what cam with my Z when I bought her last October. Form top left to bottom right, and not pictured: - K&N Air filters (not pictured: two Weber carbs and cannon runners) - Original DATSUN windbreaker (supposedly came with the car when purchased) - 4 original "D" hub caps in excellent shape - Around 8 misc. Datsun and 240Z emblems - 2 wood carb spacers?? - 8 Nippon Denso spark plugs - 2 Datsun resistors - Aftermarket fuel pressure gauge - Lazorlite distributor cap - FRAM oil filter - Original mirror - Checker oil filter - Ignition kit - Lots 'o hoses - Original Hitachi radio - Head gaskets - Aluminum polish -(not pictured: extra clutch, extra used distributor) Not a lot of stuff, but it's always nice to have extras
  8. Fine Dave. Here they are. New door speakers. Had to run new wire, and increase speaker hole from 4" to 5" to fit. New 6x9"s in hatch panel. Dave doing his thing, installing tweeters in the kick panels. _______________________________________________ Alternator - Remanufactured for Datsun. FOR SALE, PM me with offer Cibie E-code H4's May be for sale soon...
  9. So Dave and I spent a marathon 12 hour install session. And we almost got it all finished. Problem was, I hadn't received my amp (**** Circuit City btw), so there's still that. Once it's all in, I'll have pictures up. As it is, I know it's gonna be sweet. But anyway, I have some pieces I may be looking to get rid of, and need to know if anyone is interested in them. 1: I have a perfectly good "Remanufactured for Datsun" 45A Alternator. It's obviously not original, but does have a metal tag affixed that says it was made for Datsun. There's also a nice brass-looking aftermarket external regulator. Looks brand new. 2: A cherry pair of CIBIE E-Code H4 headlights with working 55/60w bulbs. They've had plastic covers over the lenses while they were on the car, so they're in perfect condition. 3: An ALPINE 7167 cassette deck. It's 100% complete, and in excellent condition. It's circa late 70's, early 80's I believe. Those that don't have pictures will be added tomorrow.
  10. While installing my new stereo system with Dave this weekend, we removed the driver's seat and found this gem. How great is that?
  11. The combination of wide-body and Champagne Gold give it a hybrid 240Z/944 Turbo look. It's sure interesting. Looks like you know what you're doing, good luck!
  12. Niiice Arne. haha "MW"
  13. So here are some pictures of my current audio setup. Yea, that's an ALPINE tape deck. y'all are jealous
  14. That Craigslist posting doesn't have a single "." It says "2.8" but other than that, nothing!
  15. They are downdraught/down draft, and I'm keeping the SU's. Just looking to sell off some of the extra parts I have.
  16. Hey guys, My Z's PO converted her back to the original SU's after the owner before him had put on dual Webers with Cannons and K&N filters. So I inherited those carbs, runners, and filters and it's all pretty much in pieces. I'd like to clean them up and reassemble them. My question is what should I use to clean them? I've heard the chemicals can be pretty expensive. Any ideas?
  17. Arne; Here are the old lights. The 2 scratches are on the protective plastic covers.
  18. Good to hear. I don't want to get into any trouble, but I need to see better at night. I probably could have just switched to a more powerful bulb, but figured "oh, what the hell" and sprung for these since I was getting the HLH anyway.
  19. Well I'm glad you all like Dave's stuff. I've heard great things, and have already sent him $210 sight unseen. He's been really generous offering to do all of this work with me, and I'm grateful for it. I've installed one head unit before, but it was a fairly simple job. Arne; I thought about putting the stock AM radio back in and putting the head unit in the glovebox, but decided I can always do that at a later time. I'm not sure if it even works, but I do hope to maintain a relatively-close-to-stock car. Bo; Yea, I'm not going that far. I'm trying to keep most of the mechanicals stock. I just wanted a few creature comforts. So the ZX alternator will work for my job I think. I totally forgot to mention the Autopal H4 MSR's. Theyre non-DOT approved, but hopefully if aimed right, I shouldn't have any problems.
  20. So this Monday, I'm headed down to Dave's (Zs-ondabrain) place to overhaul the electrical system in my 1970 240. What we've got planned: Headlight upgrade kit (Dave's product) Parking light upgrade kit (Also Daves) '81 Alternator swap Kenwood Head Unit MTX Thunder Elite 4 channel amplifier Polk Audio DB5251 5-1/4" component door speakers Polk Audio DB691 6x9" 3-way rear speakers MSA sourced rear hatch ported speaker panel MSA LED Domelight conversion It'll be an all day thing, but I've been planning this with him since November! Can't wait to throw it all in there! Right now I'm rocking some circa late 80's Alpine tape deck, 2 4" pioneer door speakers (only one works), and probably the the stock rear speakers. Parking lights are near non-existent they're so dim, and severly lacking headlight illumination. I've posted a picture of most of the components, and will put up before and after shots soon.
  21. Factory speedo's are ALWAYS overly optimistic. The engineers are just seeing how high they can count. If you read any of the early reviews of the car, the stated top speed is about 125mph.
  22. I stay pretty aware of current events, but to be honest we here in the states haven't gotten a lot of news about your new Prez. Besides the fact that his wife has posed nude as a model. News coverage here has been DOMINATED these last six months by our Presidential race. So I don't think most of us are too aware of things in the rest of the world. Nice piece of eye candy tho!
  23. hey Dave, let me know if this weekend works for ya

The body color code is printed on a tag underneath the front of the hood, right by the radiator. A "perfect restoration" would need this tag, so it would need to be the right color car. And only certain interior/exterior color combinations were offered, so you may be able to do a different interior color, but there would be limited choices on it.

Well, from what I've heard and can infer Carl, there are a few reasons. While the Skyline name does carry considerable cachet with automotive enthusiasts, outside of Japan it has little meaning to the general public. Especially here in the US. Also, before to the new GT-R, all previous GT-R's were basically souped-up Skylines. The new car was designed from the start to be Godzilla on four wheels. So in effect, it's not a Skyline, it is truly the Nissan GT-R. And of course the Skyline name was kept for the JDM market, cuz that would be like GM dropping the Corvette name.
