My NEXT sports car --- C7 Vette? Boxster?
I'll second both the Cayman, BRZ/FRS and S2000. Cayman is the "most" car, but also most expensive. The BRZ/FRS is just plain fun, very much like our S30's, and the S2000 has very good overall performance in a very civilized package.

Z's really can fly, (unfortunately)
Oh man... That's terrible! At least you are still here to talk about it.

Custom Chopped 240Z
I have only one question... Will the driver have a ZZ Top beard and dark sunglasses to go with the car? That took a serious amount of work and planning. Looks much nicer than I expected!

[2013] What did you do to/with your Z today?
Technically, it was this weekend... I installed new tune-up parts and plug wires, then adjusted the carbs. No evidence of exhaust ot vacuum leakge. Set the timing "by ear" and I thinks it's a bit too advanced. (I lent my timing light to a friend who broke it... But yesterday, but I drove to Mountan View & back. Took a guy from work out for a quick ride before taking her home. Was soo good to get her back on the road!

The sudden death of my closest friend Enrique Scanlon (EScanlon)
Sad News. Enrique was a great Z guy who helped many of us. He will be misssed. Please give our thoughts and condolances to his family.

She's back on the road!
Finally finished fixing the exhaust manifold and re-installing the both mainfolds, the carbs and a new thermostat. No more exhaust leak and she sounds much better. After re-assembly I now have a small ingnition timing issue to figure-out, but it's very minor. So nice to drive her again!

Can I remove these coolant lines?
A quick question: You don't want a heater? How about a defroster fro the front window? Removing this coolant circuit will disable the heater/defroster. If it's a dedicated track car, then it may make sense. If you drive anytime when it's cool, the defrost comes in kinda handy... Yoshi, BTW, I'm just south of you in San Mateo, so if you want to get together to tinker on our Z's. just let me know. Julio

[2013] What did you do to/with your Z today?
Finally got my intake & exhaust manifolds mounted today.__I was tired today, really "off-my-game" and everything seemed to be difficult.__Kept dropping parts, smearing the gasket compund, dropping fasteners, mis-threaded an intake fastener (and had to chase the threads). At least they are mounted on the engine. Just need to get some new fuel hose, mount the exhaust pipe and start her up. Hopefully, I don't have any leaks and won't have to do it again...

[2013] What did you do to/with your Z today?
And that's why I like the door strips... Some may not like the way they look, but from what I can see in the pic, it probably would have prevented the paint chip. .It's no sure thing though, some tall SUV and truck doors will hit above the strip.

Getting my 72 Z To Run
If you don't have an electric fuel pump, it can take a lot of revs to get the fuel pumped from the tank to the carbs. I squirt a bit a fuel in each carb to get the engine to run in short bursts. Usually takes two to three squirts/runs. Then you are good to go without draining your battery.

Using Chevette Springs to Re-gain Original Ride Height
Interesting and useful discussion. Thanks John & Jon for the info!

Using Chevette Springs to Re-gain Original Ride Height
Leon, Your explaination is correct. What I was really hoping to get back was what "softer" shocks are available... I have a contact who develops custom shocks. They haven't worked on any for our old S30's, (market is too small), and they are a bit too expensive for a weekend street car.

Using Chevette Springs to Re-gain Original Ride Height
John, I find this intriguing. My suspension is a bit firmer than I expected. So all things being equal, (stock suspension components, rubber bushings), eibach spings and tokico blues, it sounds like perhaps a "softer" shock would improve ride quality? I like the stance with the eibachs, but suspect my bride would prefer it were more supple... Any thoughts?

Starts right up, then falls on its face.
My thought exactly! I alsways like to start with the simple stuff...

[2013] What did you do to/with your Z today?
I cleaned-up the exhaust manifold, fastemers, washers etc before installing my manifolds tomorrow. Will be nice to have her running, (with no exhaust leak), again!

Fuelly.com --- see what gas mileage ACTUAL owners get
Interesting... With my 2.7 Rebello, I average almost exactly the same. Would have thought the increased displacement would make it a bit worse.

Untamed Z's in the wild

Head studs/bolt
Yep, that's how mine is set-up.

Predetor Z
I like it! Always thought that bumper-less s-30's looked a bit like sharks...

Headlight covers with chrome trim.....
I kept thinking of reproducing a set of these, but even reproductions would be expensive. Was thinking I could fabricate the frames from brass and have them chromed. However the cost / effort to create the thermoform tooling is the bigger challenge. In the end I decided to spend my efforts on other things.

Merry Christmas!
Happy Holidays to all! Just got home from my family's gathering and made peppermint martini's for the ladies which was well recieved. Tomorrow's gathering is my wife's family at our house. Busy times! I'll third the statement: Wash the dirt of the undercarriage and get your beautiful Z into the garage!

Easiest way to eliminate points on 240z
I read a few posts on how some have had issues with the pretronix set-up, and don't doubt what's been reported, but I've never had a problem. I've Installed them wihout issues in 3 different 240Z's and in a 70' Capri. Worked flawlesly every time. Maybe Pertronix had a quality problem or the seller sent the wrong model?
