Painting a spook?
You can also get a clear coating that will protect the paint. I think it's called stoneguard, and it will create a rough texture like bedliner. It's usually used to paint the bottom sections of rockers, fenders & sail panels, the front lip, etc. thxZ

Planning a Poker Run
Thanks, Gordon, The start & finish area will be wherever we decide to put it. It could be at the convention site, or maybe somplace close by. Just for Dade280, the start will be in Fort Kent, ME, and the finish will be in Fairbanks, AK... Trophies or plaques are the usual thing. There are lots of options you can do about entry requirements, and there might be an option to put in some cash, to buy a card or as a prize. thxZ

Planning a Poker Run
I didn't get to finish what I was typing before. A poker run is a kind of rally- not a "race!" You follow a map or directions to a number of stops (driving within the posted speed limits, or according to the instructions) where you pick up 5 playing cards to make up a poker hand. You may also be expected to answer questions or even collect some things (leaf, rock, soda bottle, etc.) at certain points on the route. At the end of the run (or the day) the person with the best hand wins something. You can win money, a trophy, prizes, etc. what I wanted to know was some preferences for getting your poker cards: Would you be willing to put up some money, like an entry fee, for a chance to win the whole pot, or just go for a trophy, a plaque or prizes? Would you rather get all 5 cards while on the rally route? Sometimes you can get one card before you start the route, and three or 4 more cards on the route, then the last one back at the end. The rules for the run are currently being drafted. Entrants may be required to depart the starting area after a certain time, and arrive back within a certain time frame. There may be as many as 4 stops on the route, with one being a stop to play kind of challenging game. thxZ

Classic Z Car Club licence plate frames?
In contrast to this, I'd recommend what Zs-ondabrain put on his earlier graphic, where he put on "240Z- Drive it like you stole it." I think it's pretty much apparent that if that frame is on a 240Z, then it's not referring to some kind of rice. thxZ

Brake Warning Light Won't Turn On - Stumped
The electrical section of the FSM has many of the electrical circuits detailed by themselves with a diagram of the circuit and its associated wiring diagram and usually a diagnosis chart, and has been very useful for solving things on my 280Z. It may be the same for the 240Z.

I have to find these!!!
the 280ZX had spindle cup that don't stick out as far. They were on my 6-spoke ZX wheels. You may be able to use those. But on my Z, I cut off only the ends and glued them to the wheels for a flat look. The downside is that the spare will need the longer cap, or you need to carry one, in case you need to put the spare on the front. Otherwise the spare has a flat cap too. th

Classic Z Car Club licence plate frames?
Good images. However I'd put mine on on upside-down so the tags will show in the bottom corners. There should be no difference in reading the phrases tho.

Classic Z Car Club licence plate frames?
If you wanted to go with decals, then you could say that size is no limit! I have large sheets ( 36x36 inch) of magnetic stuff that I stick bumper stickers onto, and then cut them out. They stick well on the bumpers and over the peeling paint spots. :classic:

Classic Z Car Club licence plate frames?
I'd be surprised if tere wasn't a member here that's involved with injection- moulding or plastic- forming of some kind to help us make a mold or whatever for a suitable license plate. How about you engineers drawing up a design for a frame? thxZ

What does the Dove Tail do for the doors?
That looks like some kind of guide to align the dor latch. When you say Dovetail, I immediately think of the ones on the hatch lid (like on a 280Z).

Another "good as chrome" product?
tw- I need to do mine too! too bad you couldn't just put the old one in a machine and have it copy one in alloy. BTW- I see people doing that quoting thing all over the Internet. It's been happenning for many months now.

Classic Z Car Club licence plate frames?
Don't you think "My other car is a classic Datsun Z" is too specific? Granted, if you have a Z you probably have another car that this one can go onto, so this phrase would be a good choice ( for the club) to buy in quantity. And what about the people with Frogs ( 350Zs?) Those aren't really "classic" or "Datsun." Otherwise, we should come up with a phrase that would work on more cars or for more people. That is, unless there is a provider of custom license plate frames that will handle personal choices for the printed text, and ship it directly to you, with Mike getting a cut. Personally, I'd go for one that specifically goes on the Z (like just classicZcar.com) thxZ

Classic Z Car Club licence plate frames?
Why not just buy a sticker ( or a sheet with several different phrases) from the club store that you put on a generic, blank frame? The stickers might already be available, or much more feasible for the club to offer. You might even consider this item: http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/lights/8dde/ thxZ

Another "good as chrome" product?
I agree will with Geezer that trying to cure the product on a plastic part will probably (melt) the part, but I wasn't suggesting that you toss a plastic part in an oven and leave it sit in the high heat- the normal way of curing the coating, so that's where the heatgun might help. Flash-heating only the surface of the part may give a useful result, but will have to see. When I try coating a metal part, I will cure it in increments to see if you can see the difference. thxZ

Why would you put in a quoted message in your signature, when you can just type in the text?

Car show in Pittsburgh this weekend.
When I go to car shows, I'll get dozens of people telling me how awesome the 280Z is as a sportscar ( even other people showing cars/musclecars) but then I'll get almost no votes- even when I enter in the foreign car class. The Porsche or Mercedes will get all the votes.

I have to find these!!!
Did I suggest that she buy these? NO. I posted the link for reference purposes. GO READ the message E.

Car show in Pittsburgh this weekend.
Did you get an award? Any votes, or did the Porsche get all the votes? I'm interested in how people regard Zs in relation to others, like maybe American muscle cars or cars of the same era. thxZ

Maybe we should see what Darbji thinks, not others.

So? Maybe she would like those. I didn't know you had changed your nickname to Darbji
