woo hoo!! anyone got any pics of 71 gauges? i don't have a digital camera...i wouldn't mind getting some indiglo gauges for my 71 240Z

thanks for the info...well now that i know that the gas tank will fit my car i just want to be extra sure if i really should change the gas tank.. i was already told by the mechanic at the local Z shop that i probably need a new one or to repair my current one... here are the reasons why I think i need a new gas tank... 1. found bits of rust or grit in the fuel filter. 2. engine seems to sputter and not get enough gas once in a while. 3. one of the carbs gets plugged once in a while. what do YOU guys think? the mechanic at the Z shop knows the previous owner of my car and the owner before that one too and said that my car had been stored for about ten years before so most likely my gas tank is really rusty....

first my signal lever came off and i stuck it back in but it's not the same...ever since it fell off, my park lights stay on when i turn my headlights off and when my headlights are on my parklights go off...whenever the parklights are off my dash lights go out with them...it's really annoying cuz if i turn my car off and pull the key out the park lights are still on and i don't want to leave it cuz it'll kill the battery...i have to turn the light switch off and hold it really tight before the lights go off...after i switch off the lights i have to hang a little bag with something in it to hold down the lever...anyone know what could be wrong?

oh yeah btw, what is the sending unit? is it the fuel pump?

I need a new gas tank as mine is really rusty and i am able to get my hands on one from a 73 240Z. I want to know if it will fit in my 71 240Z... Anyone?

what kind of gas tank is it for? will it fit in my 71 240z? if it is rust free i'll take it!...mine is so rusty and bits of rust are plugging up my fuel filter...i live in Vancouver, BC, Canada....i'll pay whatever it costs for shipping...

can you guys post some pics of as many 240Z body kits? i wanna see whats out there...please...

so any new info on the indiglo gauges for the z? i would be interested in them...

the dimmer doesn't really work....i have to keep spinning the thing and then all of a sudden sometimes the dash lights will just go on...there is no dim or bright...just on and off...although it is quite dim...

the guy i bought the car from helped me out with the car....he said sometimes grit gets stuck in the tube on the float in the float bowl...just took it out disconnected the hose and blew on the metal tube while at the same time moving the plastic float up and down...i already ordered a fuel filter too...thanks AGAIN to all you guys that replied and helped me out...it really saves me a lot of money from going to the mechanic... your guys help is much appreciated....

thanks for all the help guys...problem is solved now... my manager checked out my car and found that the hose on the vent pipe on the fuel filler neck wasn't even connected...it was just hanging in the quarter panel venting all the fumes into the cabin..hahaha...that day i posted this thread i filled the gas half way up the filler neck too...hahahahaha...

i've had my 240Z for just over a week now and the engine started to sputter today....if i'm at a red light at idle the car will sometimes start to drop in revs and then just die...and when i accelerate it feels if the engine isn't running at it's full potential...it sputters as the revs go up and it feels as if i'm running on less than 6 cylinders...i also have trouble starting the car now whereas i always noticed that it used to start really easy before...easier than any car i've started before...i used to turn the ignition for like a 1/4 second and i'd let go and it would fire up....one problem i had since i purchased the car was that when i'm accelerating it usually wouldn't go pass 4000 rpm it would feel as if there wasn't enough gas going to the engine... oh yeah..it's a l26 block with 71 carbs...if that makes any diff...

ok...if it's at the wheels then that sounds a lot more better.... i thought you meant 125 at the crank which is what most people talk about...unless they specify "at the wheels"

really? so little? damn...it feels pretty torquey though... whats the stock HP for a stock l24?

i went to a Z enthusiast shop today and looked at 2 sets of headlight covers for my 240Z...one was $150 CDN...it was just a piece of plastic with some mounting holes...when i put it up against my car they didn't fit that nice and there wasn't a rubber gasket or anything around the cover...the other one i just looked at and didn't bother looking for more than a minute cuz they were $600 CDN!! the guy said they were the OEM headlight covers from japan...they looked sweet though...had a chrome trim around the edges... is there a certain brand of headlight covers that fit really well?...i've seen many pics with the covers and they have a rubber moulding around the edges and they fit flush to the fenders..

i have a 71 240Z with an l26 block and 71 SU's...it's a 4 speed with a stock rear end...what kind of HP do you guys think i'm pushing out?i dont know much more about my engine.......

i jus got a '71 240Z and there's a strong smell of gas inside the car...even if i roll down the windows and open the sunroof it still smells...when i test drove it before i bought it i never smelled this gas smell...i only smell a little exhaust fumes if i'm not moving.... anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this? my clothes smell like gas...it's bad enough to annoy me but i'm not really getting high....yet...any help would be appreciated...it's really hard to drive with the smell...

i was looking at this 240z and i noticed the dash lights were extremely dim. it was day time but even when i parked in an undercover area and put my hand over top of the gauges i could barely see the light shining through. i even tried adjusting the brightness with the dimmer switch under the dash and it didn't do much. would this be a hard thing to fix?or would i just have to change the bulbs?
