Guys great info! Interiors look great! I'm really diggin' the yellow - great lookin' project! I am trying to get a set of Recaro Speed S or Sport - I had a different project set for this winter but...................got the Recaro bug a few weeks ago. I've thought about the Miata's and so forth but............still looking.

[2011] What did you do to/with your S30 today?
Got one solid last weekend in - Snow is due on Wednesday and I'm betting on salt hitting the roads - Saturday with my son and his 370Z for a 200 mile twisty trip at The Snake (this youtube post is of motorcycles, but you'll get the point). This ride is only 30 minutes from my house - I live in a great part of the world!!

MIata Wiper motor wiring question
Talk to Dave - he can hook you up with a complete wiring plug-n-play connection along with built-in rely - just got mine and heading the the pick and pull to get the 3 legged motor. This is for a Honda Civic - not a Miata.......not sure where the Miata came from............ http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/content.php?141-Honda-Wiper-Motor-Upgrade-for-the-240Z

Arne answers questions.
My E53 (2005 X5) is one of the best vehicle's I have ever owned - bought it new - 230,000 miles and still driving like new - a few issues but nothing major, but one fantastic vehicle. Drives like the day I bought it!

Is this your 240Z? Have info for you!

New l 28 for my 72
Great looking build Guy! How many runs on the dyno and did the sniffer find you rich or lean? Numbers look right for non fuel injected and all that modern stuff. Love it!

Show me your seats
Show us your seats I have tried to keep my car as era correct as possible - but now I need a little comfort and support with my seats - I'm really tired of going around the twistys and twisting all over my 39 year old seats (newly re-foamed and upholstered). They look great, but that is about all. It's time for an upgrade! Please show us your seats - what brand they are - why you like them/how they sit - if they came out of another car please list the car and year that they came out of in case somebody likes them they can know what to pick and pull. Also let us know what they are finished with. Let us also know how difficult it was to install - custom bracket to attach our sliders or just bolt on. There are may great brands out their with many different pricetags, Recaro - Corbeau -Sparco-Corbeau- OMP - Bride - Momo- just to name a few. Some are fixed and some are reclining. From my research some of the seats that other folks have added to their Z cars are............S2000, Miata, 300ZX, 280ZX, Integra GSR, Honda CRX, Corvette C5. From my research it seems that the S30 seats are: 21" wide 22" length 19" seat back width 29" seat back length 35" total height w/bracket Anyway - thanks in advance and get some pics and descriptions up if you have made this modification to your S30

Help! SU carbs...(of course) idle is at 1800 can't bring it down....
Did the idle work OK before you started this process (you said the car did not run great but that is very limited info) - Did you work any on your choke cables - a common culprit of high RPM idle is having your chokes too tight - you may try loosening them - relax the choke cable - and then reset without any pressure on the choke cable.................Another common mistake is folks working on these carbs before they have read up on them and actually doing more damage than good. There are 100's of threads on this topic with exact float setting (see the FSM). When I was running Hitachi's (and I'm sure most of us that are) will make a float guide to assist in setting the floats. This should be a set once and forget function (just so you are careful on your float bowl annual maintence and inspection). If I remember correctly front and rear carbs are a different setting. I would doubt float setting would make the RPM's run high.

Motorsport Auto heater control panel
Bryan - I you visit Esprist's web site above I think that will explain a lot - and also let you see some fantastic Datsun heritage! With 1000 posts that you have made I'm surprised that you have missed that in the past.

Never washed in 40 years! Tail Light Refresh
Why did you not separate the lens from the housing? It's amazing how clean you can get all that stuff once it's separated. I've got a spare set just in case I ever get AZZended.

Low profile kick panel speaker pods now available
Agreed - I've got a set as well, and they are fantastic! Helps so much to have balance sound! The speaker pods do not interfere with my clutch foot, unless I'm wearing some overly large shoes. It also finishes off the kick panels very nicely, and since they are a nice formed plastic, they don't ravel like the pressed cardboard does. Great upgrade for anybody that does not want to cut their door panels.

Headlights do not work.
.......good wiring diagram for your year will be your best friend forever! Trust me - odds are you will need it. Tracking down electrical gremlins are tough sometimes - and sometimes it pays you to have a back up of a few of the important parts - combo switch is one and hazard switch is another. I've got a few in my parts bin in my garage with various other parts and pieces.

High compression N/A build question
Do the Triples - you'll be glad you did! If I had it to do over again I would go on out and up to the stroker crank - a little bigger cam - 200HP at the wheels will take some $$.............trust me!

Silver Sharpie on Dash Trim
Been there as well - doesn't last and you must "sharpen" it up after a few years.

N42 head questions
After a head has sat for so long I would really have to worry about any damage to the valves - if not handled correctly (and who knows how many people handled it) you could have some hidden damage. I'm assuming the intake and exhaust valves are in the head. You stated it was wrapped up in a bag - it really should have been protected in a box.
