Bought another Z this afternoon!!!!!! This is the first time I have owned two consecutively. $800. Absolutely NO rust anywhere. Clean engine (doesn't run too well), 5-speed, alloys, rear discs, nice straight body, seats worn pretty bad, drivers torn, console broken. steve77

If anybody wants to contact this guy on their own, his number is: 805-473-3166 and his name is Harley. He has about 10 E31's, fibreglass headlight buckets, early taillight trim and lenses, hoods, fenders, dashes..... He has a ton of stuff. Unfortunately, he feels they are all worth quite a bit more than market reality. steve77

I said this guy was not a fool...well, it turns out he is, but for exactly the opposite reason. These cars are junk. Well, not exactly junk, but $200-300 cars all. Fist-sized rust pockets in all four corners. Over half had rust at the joint over the quarter window. Handles missing. Doors don't close. Most had sunroofs. Gutted interiors. Automatics. Consoles full of water. Dashes cracked beyond belief. Floorpans that show carpet from underneath. Rusty, bent bumpers. Missing glass. You name it, these cars had it. I totally insulted this guy. I tried to gently tell him they were all $200 cars and he didn't appreciate it. He feels they are all $1500+ cars. Not an early 70 or 69 in the bunch. He thinks because they all run, they are worth money. I tried to tell him the people I deal with do not want drivers, they want rebuildables. Oh well... Didn't take a single picture. steve77
  7. Yes, I founbd the hi-temp brake grease...this stuff is over with the magic potions and is a little tube and is called Disk Brake Quiet.. There were two different brands and both looked identical. steve77
  8. Hey! I didn't start this thread to kill Ozzy's thread! This was just to talk about the plans. Put your to do list on the other pile. steve77
  9. I can't find anywhere to e-mail you or send you a PM. Am I blind? Where did it go? I want the F54 intake and the TB. steve77 ZVOITURE@aol.com
  10. OK, went to NAPA today and they also sell this orange stuff that looks and smells like glue. Does it work? Does it get hard or does it harden to silicon-like felxibility? Is it goinging to be a mess to scrape of when I do them again? Anyone? steve77

I finally made contact today with someone I have been chasing for over a year. Wednesday afternoon he is letting me into his yard where he has finally decided to sell his Z collection. There are about 7 1970's, 1 260 and 2 280's in "rust-free to minor rust" condition. He says all of them are in "prime restoration candidate condition" and speaks of things like stock radios, perfect dashes, etc. There are also 5 or 6 other Z's he considers "junk, part-out quality". The cars are near San Luis Obispo, CA, about halfway between SF and LA. I will take a digicam, of course and if anybody is looking for a Z, send me a rough idea of what you want. Let me know the year (with months if it matters) and how much rust and your budget and I will scout the pile for you. Let me know by early Wed, PST. SERIOUS ONLY PLEASE. Unfortunately, this guy is not a fool. There will be no 'ignorantly priced' cars. I will be surprised if any of the '70's are under $2000. steve77 ZVOITURE@aol.com

Anyone here from south France? Probably for 7-10 days. I thought there used to be a French forum here??? Can't seem to find it. steve77
  14. Since the list is to be kept clean and concise and updated (great idea) I had to have another place to voice my feelings: YOU GUYS ARE NUTS!!! (ok, most of you). See, I don't have the patience to perform any kind of resto. Strip the body for paint??? Are you nuts?!? I'm actually really glad there are those of you out there willing to take cars into a finely restored state. It will help the marque in the long run. 20 years form now when these cars are rare and expensive, you will be our idols. I like fast, loud, fun, easy, 20 foot cars. Totally Nissan, but tight and fun. my .02 steve77
  15. Planning on attending this year? Bringing a Z? If so you MUST park with our club. I guess I should go read your post on "To Do List for 2003" to see if your car is even running!!!! steve77

Well, go to www.speedtv.com and give them your input. There are two places: FEEDBACK (unregistered) and MESSAGE BOARDS (registered 'insider'). I just went and registered and one of these days when I am really bored I am gong to go through the message boards and see if there are other sports car fans out there. steve77

    1. Get Historical Auto plates for my current '77. 2. a. 1. If #1 is relatively easy, buy a $500 280 2. a. 2. Get it running and smogged and registered and then apply for Historical Plates. 2. a. 3. Strip it down into a fun street racer with F54/N42/10:1 and some sort of hot FI. 2. a. 4. Do something spec-ish with the body, like box flares and a drop nose. 2. b. 1. If #1 is difficult or impossible, find an under $1000 240. 2. b. 2. See 2.a.3 2. b. 3. See 2.a.4 3. Decide whether or not to sell my current '77. steve77

    >>>>>the 800 lb Gorilla (NASCAR) has plans to saturate the channel with as much Winston Cup, Busch, related programmig as the subscribers will stomach, even Yeah, you're probably right. I can't imagine being able to watch complete rallye wrap-ups nightly after the left-turners start back up. Too bad there couldn't be two racing channels. There is plenty of Neckar material to fill one complete channel, and you know people would watch the hell out of it. Lord knows we have infintesimal little niche market channels for everything else. Then SportsCarVision could have all the rallye, road, touring, GT, FIA, F1. We could split IRL and CART depending on the track. Hell, they could even use the motorcycles for fill in. They can have Two guys garage but we get Hemmings. steve77
  20. I know this sounds really lazy...but can they be greased without removing the caliper/pad? steve77
  21. I did not do the work. I hate brakes. I had the guy who services my Toyota truck and Lexus do it. I have heard rumours of the shims and am pretty sure he did not use them. Do they come with the pads or are they extra? Are the pads thinner than the trough in the caliper? What i mean is, is the shim just a thin piece of metal in the outline of the pad that fits behind it? I need to put boots on my rack, so sounds like I should do it all at once. I'm not idling for an hour through the MSA show entrance with it like this again!!!! steve77
  22. Had everything done about 500 miles ago. Replaced EVERYTHING: Master, calipers, rear cylinders, rotors, pads, shoes, drums, all the fluid.....everything. The brakes work great, but squeal very loudly when under very light pressure. Like when just idling through a parking lot or in line at a stoplight--just going very slow with light, constant pressure on the pedal. It's really embarassing! Everybody looks at me like I'm from Pigswallow. It doesn't happen when I'm really USING the brakes. steve77

Despite most of us predicting the demise of Speedvision would mean NECK-CAR 24/7, there actually has been a ton of great sports car action on there lately. And the above mentioned v-8 series and also the touring series from England, Scandanavia, and Germany are great. Both are wonderful examples of how PRODUCTION car racing should be done (NOTE TO MIDDLE AMERICA: Stock cars are not stock!). Also the FIA series and lots of good GT racing. I never get tired of watching that Corvette chase that NSX around. Oh, and Probst is unbelievable to watch. The best part is watching the Vipers choke (but they don't choke often enough...). Last week I watched something very strange and amusing: A bunch of 3-series Bimmers getting their ASSES kicked by some FWD MG's and Volvo's. As far as the Supercar series, one question for those in that part of the world: Why is it almost exclusively a Falcon/Holden thing? there a quite a few other great V-8 cars you would think you would see more of. Why don't you see more manufacturers like Lexus and Infiniti? I would think a well prepared GS430 would fit in there real well with the other sedans. steve77

It just looked like a front engined car...what appears to be fuel inlets are in the rear and what appears to be exhaust is forward of the centerline. Just seemed backwards for a rear engined car. Really cool though. For most of the race I thought it must be some sort of Mustang. the website wasn't real clear on where the current 12 is sourced. Is it a Jaguar block? steve77 steve

Yes! that's the car!... But tell me, WHERE'S THE ENGINE??? How do you fit a 7 litre V-12 under THAT hood????? steve77
