hello! could the selnoid freeze up during storage? i have a nasty wire leading to mine and sometimes on start up i just get a click and it wont turn over. i jiggle the wire and pinch it and then it will turn over. i know this sounds hack but im still waiting to really dig in here. i realize im probably the least experienced here so sorry to confuse the issue. just wonder'n:stupid:

hey those are sweet rims. i also love the front air dam. the original stereo looks very clean! i never got to see mine. some punk stole the non functioning stereo out mine when it was left sitting in the rain. also broke a key off in the ignition trying to steel the car! fools! any way i was able to get a cd player in there without cutting the face plate. it was very tight it works. also had to have a second speaker added. mono sucks. i do agree that the sound of straight six is like music, but some slow low chuggin rock like the Melvins is a nice compement to the inline six rumble. but yah why change out such a clean original. you had asked about center caps for "snowflakes"? sorry but i know nothing. wish i had more to share. have fun! btw i also found it time to update the avatar. sorry about that sleestack!

any one looking for panasport center caps? motorsport auto can get them. they are not a stock item but they can order them for you. just give the sales person the part # on the inside/back of the center cap. mine was 20ish. thanks for the help out there! keep it up!

thanks man.....i dont want to get off to a bad start here....just want to learn from those who know better.....also dont want to gloat about my good fortune.....i really do mean it when i say i wish we could all be so lucky!......part of this for me is sharing what little i have learned......for clarification to my story, my ex was offered 3 grand for her car before giving it to me from some dude who wanted to turn it into a dune buggy! she said no way.....she knew what she had and felt horrible for letting it sit the way it did...she was in a financial hole and had little choice. she gave it to me because she knew i would treat it the way i treated her, as a beutiful work of art, worthy of honor and respect. and thats what i give it. i will sign off with a quote from a local hero and true champion of free speech, Edward R. Murrow, and say,"good night and good luck". btw... if any one needs panasport center caps, motorsport auto can get them. they are a non stock item but can be special ordered, just give them the item code located on the inside/back of the center cap. mine was 20 ish if i remember correctly.....peace

thanks for the tip.....i will look into those other spots.....i shot the only rust i know of.......as you said im sure there is more to think about......just look at the seat belt and the stearing wheel.....as i said it sat in the rain before i got it.....i am aware and worried about more and i thank you for advise on where to look next.....i have yet to pull off body panels and such but suspect to find more issues as the project goes on.

woow.... sorry for any misconception here.....not what i ment....i think i need to make a retraction.....its all good.....just sayn its big world with a lot of poeple of all types. i didnt bring up the a-hole thing but i would like to end it. just want to share and learn like the rest.

hey thanks for the advice about the rust........i hope it is all it appears to be...and yes they are panasports......i have sale records......and i recently replaced a center cap through motorsport via panasport....not to bicker over it......but they are the real deal.....any way i'm not parting with them regardless of the make. i do thank you for your advise. if i am wrong about them i am sorry....but yes the rewinds do look very similar.

mine literaly fell into my lap....it took a few hours a one dollar bill and the rental of a tow dolly..........if ony we could all be so lucky......and no i dont think some 240/280 owners are a-holes.... but alot of poeple are... some of them happen to own 240/280z's......just keepin it real.

hey thanks for the fast reply. no i am not really building a show car but not really a daily driver either. more of a learning hobby. i would like to do a street performance resto. a few extras but nothing extravegent. i think the worst rust is under the battery tray. i just put the battery in yesterday so i didnt get any photos of it. next time i pull it for a charge i will snap a shot and ask about it.

ya, just got started uploading photos. i'm new to alot of this so not as computer savy as most. i hope i uploaded correctly. they are showing up under most recent uploads on my computer, but i dont yet see a member gallery for me yet. i saw "waiting site approval" any way free-z should have pics soon. as for rust......yes there is a bit....or alot...not really sure what to expect from a 35 year old car....it had water in it when i got it....lots in the spare tire hold and under the seats. a few holes through the front right wheel well and under the battery tray. the winters were rough on it. berfore oregon it was in kannsas then arizona so it was not to bad when i first saw it (started seeing the woman who gave it to me) then it sat...so sad. but yes it has some rust. really needs to be riped down and redone.....i think. advise? sorry justaZcarguy.....i will keep the panasports.......i'm not as dumb as i look. just kidding i probably am.......just look at me spelling errors!

oh yah! so we got $2 do i here $3!......sorry but i think i'll hold out for a little more. any mor offers? i dont want to sell but if someone makes an offer i cant refuse .......well......i dont know .....i love this thing. it would take alot.

welp, just getting started in figureing out this web site. so nuch great info from all you z-freaks, all the help and knowlege is awsome! so i just pulled the z out from winter storage and all seems to be working as well as when it went to sleep last fall. to make my cars long story short i got the 72 240z for free from an ex-girfriend. she let it sit in the western oregon rain for 2 winters then moved. before leaving she signed it over to me for a $1 bill and a bill of sale. i tinkered with it for a few days and all seems fine. after reserch and looking at records it has a 81 L28 with a five speed. original su carbs, panasport rims and a 2 1/4 inch muffler. i need paint springs struts and some bushings and all should be very driveable. i changed brake light swithch, turn signal switch and got a new sound system. i do have a wiggle in the steering wheel at high speeds that feels a little intermitent. but more there than not is this front end bushings, ball joints, or hub bearings? any advise there would be awsome. hope to learn this site better and ask for help if i need it. any one in pullman WA? have fun out there free-z
