ok.. i replaced the fuel lines.. and im back at zero. the exhaust cracked an popped, normally it doesn't do that. It still gets to 55 range only and im stumped again. ill keep checking.. the fuel pump is the mechanical one.. i just replaced it not so long ago. its new and so it the gasket. I recheck to make sure it was not loose. I let you guys know what i can figure out.

ok,, i just went to the car, and pulled the hose to test it, it is so old its dried and cracked... I easily came off the distributer part without even trying... i tried pulling the other end off.. and well it just broke off too. Anyways.. thanks again.. Just one more thing... If i want to remove emissions parts...can anyone tell me or post something showing how.. Maybe a pic of the emission parts on the engine not needed?

Hi, My car is doing the same thing...could you by any chance do a how to do with pictures of what you did. my car wont rev past 5k either... and in 3-4 it wont rev pask 4k. Im kinda of new to the 240z stuff, although i have had it for over a year already. thanks. p.s. what is the fuel bowl cover... or best can you take a pic of it.. thanks.

I have a 1971 240z, with practically all drivetrain/engine dual carb etc. original. Im having problems going past 55mph.. It seems to just not want to rev anymore. I Know its not the tranny, or the clutch or of that sort. It was recently fixed for a clutch for and new clutch was put in. I have a new air filter, new spark plugs, spark plug wire, no compression problem according to the mechanic. once i hit 55 the car just doesn't seem to want to pull or go any higher. It almost feels like if it were a rev/speed limiter. Its getting fuel, it can rev first and second, but when it comes to third gear it only goes to abut 4k. and stays there, four gear cant go past 3k. So im stumped. Some help would be appreciated.

Hello, Im new to this forum. I have had my 240z for a little over a year. The clutch went out and it sat for about 4-6 mo, until recently that i got it fixed. I have a mostly all original vehicle. its a 1971 red color. I want to make this car quicker. From what i read in some places, a header and exhaust wont do much. What types of mods could i do to make my car have quite a bit more hp that it does now. It is currently stock. Thanks in advance. I want to restore to a certain point, but i want to make it more of a fun car without having to swap the original engine. Could it be turboed? Would cams affect it at all? What would be the cheapest mods for some hp gains?
