Hatch strut mounting bracket - no longer needed

Featured Replies

I'm sure it's around here someplace but I can't seem to locate it now that I need it, so does anyone have a spare mounting bracket that attaches to the left side of the hatch on a '72 model. I suppose that I could fab one but I'll try an easier route first.

The photo is from my other '72 that will eventually get rebuilt but I'd just as soon not take that one if I don't have to as I'm in and out of that car regularly.

The Z gods must be smiling upon me today as I actually found the part in my cache of "things-I-took-off-the-car-long-ago". And, even better, the AutoZone Duralast gas strut I bought actually fits the brackets at both ends (as promised) and seems WAY stronger than my OE part. I suppose 55 years will take that toll. It, and add a few more years, certainly feels like it has on me some days.

Now to media blast both brackets and get some POR-15 on them. Then, it's "hatches away ,me boys." Arrgh.
