Kent Moore J-25499 EFI Analyzer

I have the opportunity to purchase one of these units. My main concern was a friend of mine who use to have a ZX and he told me some of the cars are not compatible with the tester. The '83 in particular. Since that is the car I'm (mainly) buying it for, does anyone know of any issues with these testers? I would hate to burn something up especially the ECM or the unit itself. I'd appreciate anyone having knowledge of this potential "disaster". Thanks.

You asked about one of the other Kent Moore analyzers in another thread a while back IIRC. I've been around the Datsun hobby since the 70s, even worked at a dealership for a while and I've never seen anyone that had or used on of the units, any model. Why are they popping up now some 30 years later? Are they 'new' or used? I can't think of anything that I rather hook up to my vehicle than an electronic machine that's been sitting somewhere for 30 years (sarcasm intended!). Especially when it is uncertain which vehicle(s) it's actually 'compatible' with. The 280Z/ZX efi isn't all that complicated to need a special machine to work on it. Use a DVOM.....

I think you have your part number incorrect.... the J25499 is a A/C adapter. The EFI analyzer your referring to is J25400. I have one in excellent shape but I never use it. I agree with the previous post the EFI system on Zx's is not that complicated!

Regards,

Phil
