carb rebuild

Featured Replies

Just rebuilt carbs and can't get to idle right, runs at about 3000 rpm.None of the adjustments affect it. What have we done wrong?

Thx

A large source of unthrottled air will usually give you a runaway idle. You may have an air leak somewhere. The first place I'd check is where the carb mounts to the manifold.

Another thing to check is the throttle opener. If you have vacuum directly to this rather than through the control valve it will hold the throttle open enough to cause a high idle.
