Posted May 13, 200618 yr comment_167422 ES refers to the transverse link as the front control arm and for some reason that was giving me a fit. Anyway, to remove the bushing and the metal sleeve from the control arm I'm thinking of using one of those small propane torches to melt the old rubber bushing out, carefully, and then work the sleeve out. Any thoughts? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/20037-next-es-hyperflex-bushing-kit-question/ Share on other sites
May 13, 200618 yr comment_167423 I just did this and believe me it was a lot easier to take the arms to a machine shop and have them pressed out. You can burn out the rubber, but the sleeves are NOT coming out. ZTherapy has a video that shows a couple of ways to do this, IMHO a machine shop is the easiest way. Cost $25. You won't believe the difference when you are all done...you won't believe it's the same car. Be sure to check your ball joints and tie rod ends while you're doing all this. If you have any doubts about them...replace them all. Also after you re-do all this you will need to get an alignment. Have fun.Mike G. May 13, 200618 yr comment_167432 hit it with a propane torch to soften the rubber bushing. as you are applying heat push the inner sleeve and bushing out.then, just take a hacksaw and carefully cut thru the outer sleeve. soak with a little PBBlaster, Liquid Wrench or Kroil.once thru (carefully check depth), use a chisel or old screwdriver and hammer to knock out the sleeve. that's the way i did it on my front end.
