Cigarette lighter removal

Can the cigaretter lighter socket be removed? If so, can you remove it without removing the dash? I want to install a push button switch and was hoping to not remove the dash.

It unscrews from the back(and pulls out the front) on the 72 and later S30s.

on the early cars, it on a bracket that is put in with screws-but it does unscrew from that.
