Posted August 6, 200420 yr comment_90097 I was crusing through eBay and came across this motor and found a finish on the front cover that I had not seem before. Can anyone tell if this is media blasted, paint or what. Thanks for your help. August 6, 200420 yr comment_90099 Looks like it might have been blasted with glass bead. I did mine with it and it looks the same. Finish it off with some 600 grit and a good polish... :classic: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/12778-front-cover-finish/#findComment-90099 Share on other sites
August 6, 200420 yr comment_90102 or spray it with a clear coating and be done with it.(Polishing is overrated unless you have lots of time and nothing else to do) JMO Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/12778-front-cover-finish/#findComment-90102 Share on other sites
August 7, 200420 yr comment_90134 Please correct me if im wrong, but wouldn't the clearcoat burn off? I agree that polishing just leads to more polishing. :dead: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/12778-front-cover-finish/#findComment-90134 Share on other sites
August 7, 200420 yr comment_90137 Does the paint on your engine block burn off? NO! There are areosol products ( I hesitate to call them paint) that are designed for mid range high temperatures. It doesn't have to handle 1400 degrees F like an exhaust manifold coating. Products like this are sold at auto supply and hardware stores all over the USA. I suspect that similar products can be found in OZ.http://www.eastwoodco.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=261&itemType=PRODUCT&RS=1&keyword=clear Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/12778-front-cover-finish/#findComment-90137 Share on other sites
