Posted June 28, 200420 yr comment_86835 (78 280z) Man, i am totally stumped. I am cleaning, and rebuilding my engine and i am totally stuck here. I got off the oil pump, but for some reason the dist. does not wanna budge. I totally removed the two bolts that secure the "mount" to the front cover. I pull, and tug, but the distributor just stays there. It spins around in circles freely, but has no movement up or down. Is there something i have to remove to get it off? All of the pulley's are still on, except for the fan pulley. I am stuck like a fly on fly paper. Thanks for the help guys! June 28, 200420 yr comment_86836 hhm I would tap lightly on it side with a rubber mallet or hammer , it sounds just like its stuck with normal engine dirt , but I would be very careful not to hit it hard at all, also spray some gumout or wd40 down at the base , good luck Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/12397-how-do-i-get-the-freaking-distributor-off/#findComment-86836 Share on other sites
July 1, 200420 yr Author comment_87202 Thanks a bunch, that did the trick. I ended up having to hit it from the bottom upwards to get it out.
