Sure there a few in the Los Angeles/Orange County area. Group Z is the largest, then you got Inland Empire Z club and another that is escaping at this time. What do you need from the Z Club of San Diego?
  2. I too thought it was a well written article and enjoyed reading it very much. I missed this thread back in August so it was all news to me.
  3. I would be super interested in the passenger door. Also if the interior is "off" white, I will be interested in those pieces as well. I have a 73 that is the exact color. I however bet that the whole car is worth restoring if rust is not an issue.

I got a used one that came with my 73 but when I put in a brand new console I did not put back....besides he has split in top center. New vinyl can be done.

I miss read it...looks like it will be Sunday the 8th which means I can make it. Oh yeah.
  6. Nice to see you on this board as well. I got a Resto-mod in the works that will have a ton of factory parts along with some real cool mods. It should compare in some ways with you project but our price tag is not there yet....could be soon. It is not cheap doing projects like this. I love Blakt Out's car...a true beauty.

Sounds like a great event....the Marine Corp Ball is that night....let's see if I can make it.

I am off to work now...but I might have saved that conversion kit on my ebay admin page. Let me check when I get home....kicking myself for not buying it when available anyway.

I am glad to see you were able to save the car.

Maybe I saw that conversion kit on ebay? I know it is out there somewhere. I think a team effort in finding the conversion kit is in order. My wife teases me all the time that if I die the first things she is do is sell my Tamiya kit collection and My G35 sport coupe (that never leaves the garage). I have no interest in selling my kit collection. I have a clear body Farrari that is awesome. I think I am missing the Texico McClaren and the Mantra. I miss the Mom and Pop model shops in Japan. Ok let's find that conversion kit and make a run on it.
  11. I won the guessing game...my guess was $15 twice the real value. I have a nice 73 that I must finish now.

There is a kit out there to convert that car to left hand drive and non-gnose. I think it is sold on hobbylink japan. www.hobbylinkjapan.com I got the Gnose kit when I was stationed in Yokosuka in the early 2000s I paind 4000 yen for it which was the price on the box. I also go the Safri version as well. I love Tamiya kits as a matter of fact I have over 20 1/12 scale kits in my closet in the spare room all waiting to be build.

This board is very polite...you want rude got to Hybridz.com, those guys are ruthless. I know that I come to boards for information on Z cars if somone tries to get rude with me I simply just move on, I got so many more important issues in life I don't need cyber problems too. On this board people in general are very nice and informativie. The thing seems to drive some crazy is using threads from 3 and 4 years ago as a starting point.

At $1500 it might end up in the hands of someone who wants to restore it.
  15. I am using the crappy economy as one of my reasons for my $15K guess, plus the year of the car, plus the Mecum result.
  16. $15K, will be its price.
  17. I think Alan might be on to something. I am shocked by the rust in your car. If you are willing to do all the welding in of the new parts and spend the money then go for it.
  18. Its bad but is not unfixable, cut it out and weld in new. Nothing on these cars is unfixable. Did you get your seat situation fixed? If not get new covers and new seat foam. A reliable source is www.classicdatsun.com he can also get you new diamond material and his door panel skins are awesome.
  19. When can I drop my 73 off for its "refresh"? Rich you and your son do great work look forward to seeing it next weekend at the Heritage Katayama event.
  20. Interesting, I will look more into it.
  21. Alan great information as usual.
  22. Looks great so far. That floor board is going to have to be cut out and changed. This project is moving along at Wheeler Dealer speed, you would think you got Edd China on the job. I always enjoy retoration threads. What brand triples you running? For vinyl replace www.classicdatusn.com or www.datsunspirit.com would be best, both guys know and love datsuns.
  23. Where to get an early model white Z :-0? I think I am going to get me one of the kits from Eiji. I love doing business with him, real nice guy. After this thread I am now inspired to finally do my engine bay on my 73. I got tons of brand new parts too. I have been collecting them. Rich, you remember how was all over that guy with the truck load of parts at the last meeting...I made a killing.
  24. Home Depot, what could be wrong with that? Ok, I was kidding. How nice is the kit from Eiji? Another great looking project.
