  1. I found a working switch the other day in the local pocket...errr pick your part. The only problem is that the base is broken so it does not secure to the console. Does anyone have a spare base plate for the switch? I would really appreciate one. Thanks in advance.
  2. I got a spare set as well....the project car I am working on will have the drip rails cut off (owners request) and then I have set taking up space. But as Arne pointed out shipping would be a problem.
  3. [David (Montezuma), it isn't the comments on the vehicles per se that is objectionable, it's the assumption of the seller's intent to defraud criminally. Most people are just doing what they can to maximize their profit. Not all are intentionally being deceitful. 2¢ E I do concur with that point of view. I have said it here before I comment because I someday want to sell my 73 and by pointing the obvious flaws by myself and others I will not make the same mistakes and will get the most for my car. I see it as VERY constructive criticism. I bought a car from a guy who had NO idea of the flaws of his car, he was in no way trying to defraud but when I got his car I was totally disappointed. I however never conveyed to the seller my disappointment....I just fixed the flaws and moved on with it....although I am prone to randomly complain from time to time.
  4. Does anyone know a good source for 1978 2 seater scuff plates. I found one source, it was a little expensive but not too bad. Courtesy emailed me saying that they are NLA. The reason I need a new set is because mine were steel...the reason I know; they are rusted bad. We just replaced the carpet with a Datsun Spirit 9 piece kit which I reported as awesome in another thread. I will post pictures for those interested. One observation is 240 scuff plates are still available but 280 are not.
  5. Careful:nervous: some here don't like when you shred ebay cars. I for one agree with you on this, I saw so many things that were flags to me. However if this guy gets his price I feel real good for when I put my car up for sale.
  6. Call Datsun Spirit, I bet he can get you the brown carpet you want.
  7. Yesterday we got the 9 piece kit from Datsun Spirit; it is a great kit, the material is just like the factory original, a real high quality kit. I know Arne is asking about 240 kits and the 9 piece kit we got is for a 280, I am just testifying to the workmanship, quality of product and customer service of Datsun Spirit. Eiji delivered a great product for the 280, I would recommend his 280 to anyone wanting the factory original look. I might get my 240 kit from him as well now that I see what his product is like.
  8. Good question. I'm not particularly after concours, but I DO want as close as I can get to original. Yup. He recommended I talk to Datsun SPirit, IIRC. Speaking of Datsun Spirit, we got a kit coming in today from Datsun Spirit for a 1978. I will review the quality of it for you tonight or tomorrow. I really like dealing with Eiji, his communication was fantastic. Datsun Spirit was the only company offering the 9 piece replacement kit for the 78.
  9. This is what I was thinking too....I don't get it. Why can we not have exact knock-offs of the original style carpet for a 240? Are we asking for too much? Besides how can someone have a 100 pt car if you can't get the right carpet? All I want is a carpet kit with rear deck carpet that has the slots for the tool kits and carpets that do not have the jutting attached and have the snaps and hold done holes sewn open.
  10. "The city is located 35 - 40 kilometers southwest of the Metropolitan Area of Tokyo and connected to the center of the Area and Yokohama, another city in the same Prefecture of Kanagawa, by JR Yokohama line and two other private railway lines, Odakyu and Keio-Sagamihara Line. The city is also connected, on the national expressway network, with Tomei (Tokyo-Nagoya) Expressway and Chuo Expressway by two trunk roads, Route No.16 and No.129." I was trying to remember were Sagamihara was, it is up by Yokota Air Force Base. Yokota is great but getting to and from it to Tokyo is very time comsuming, hopefully you will hook up with a guy with a car. I used to drive to Yokota from Yokosuka it was fun but a little expensive in tolls. Make a good plan you will have a blast.
  11. Nice guy for sure, but his shop is in Chiba which is a very expensive train ride or even drive if you consider tolls. Chiba is where Narita Airport is. I meet Hatanaka-san at a Nostaligic Garage meet at the Tokyo Big Site several years ago. I think the links listed above will keep wishadada very busy. Check out an Up Garage while you are there. There is a big one next to Auto Zebra up near Zama on the corner of Rt 246 and 16. That Up Garage is huge, with a seperate garage full of wheels and tires. Auto Zebra sells S30s and other classic cars. English is not spoken at Auto Zebra.

Check out the belts from Wesco they are real nice. I might be the one that Steve got the info from. My best purchase to date for my 73 was the Wesco belts.
  13. There is a guy who I meet at JCCS Sept 07 who has a Black Pearl with under 20K miles, the car is simply beautiful, totally original, perfect condition. My reason for bringing this up is that if this car went for $18K then how much do you think that Black Pearl is worth?
  14. A new record....but the fool who owns it is greedy...so the record will pass.
  15. I was thinking the same thing....will the California car benefit from the Ohio car going for so much even though there are so many contrasts in the two cars? The California is very interesting.
  16. Congrats from a former PA kid who departed for the left coast 25 years ago thanks to the U.S. Navy. Like I said before I got a 73 from Springtown PA. I got a ton of parts for these things and can help you out the ignition. I got some good working ones, one slightly used.
  17. I don't know about the rest of you but I love seeing cars for sale picked apart, because when I am ready to sell I will make sure to not make the same mistakes as what are pointed out. If I could post a S30 on ebay and not one here finds an error with it I know I got a great car for sale. For me it is constructive critisism, where have gone in this country when an opinion is if it is not positive is unwelcomed?

I got one from a late model sitting around....I can take a picture and send it to you. I am in San Diego as my avatar states.
  19. If you don't mind me asking...what is Rebello going to do for you specifically and how much is going to cost.
  20. The up side to not seeing many Zs on the trip is that it will keep the value of your car climbing. "the Freemantle Museum doesn't even have a Datsun at all let alone a Zed" hell I didn't know Freemantle had a Museum, but then again I would I know...everything I went there I was a man on a mission: Beer and women. That did not leave much time to take in the "cultural" stuff. All kidding aside, it sounds like you had a wonderful trip, I would love to take that trip someday in an old classic Japanese car. Someday you should come over here to Yank land and take a drive like that.
  21. I was on the fence on using another word.
