  2. Zmefly, Ethylene glycol pure freezes at 8 degrees F. A 50/50 water mix freezes at -34 degrees F. try www.peakantifreeze.com/tech/tech_c.html That guy is killing that car by doing that .Also chek www.waynesgarage.com/docs/enginecoolant.htm Daniel

The glove box entry is the less pain. You will trash the liner as you must fold it to get it out.My clock is used as an oil change meter.Say the oil is changed and odometer reads 82,150 then I set the clock to 2:15.Then you know when it time to change it again.Excellent time to replace all the gauge lightbulbs while your there. Daniel
  4. I agree with 2mz's.Why run pure antifreeze? It will freeze before a 50/50 mix. Also how can he say NEVER had water when he bought it from the boneyard? The term salvage title causes me some concern.I would make sure I had DMV's blessing before I bought it
  5. I'm serious non-believers. Cloth Duct tape. I've been using it 30 years. No problems. Daniel

WOW, You've gone deep!! If you where to pull back to the basics. Is the fuel filter new?Is there water in the fuel? Remember if you let it sit ,good fuel will rise the top and bad fuel sediment will settle.Boy ,F.I. sure took the fun out of it!! O.K. I'll quit pretending I have a clue. Daniel

Are the hinges still good on the fuse door?If yes disconnect the wires. If no ,let me know I have a fix for that. The MOST important is the choke connection to the console.Of course remove the knob.Once all the console screws are removed you lift the rear of the console slightly.Get a couple of 2x4's or something to hold the rear up.Next you need a short phillips head screwdriver. In the U.S. it's called a stubby. Why do I think there's a joke there?Anyway remove the screws that hold the choke to the console. While doing so hold the choke arm that comes thru the console tight so it doesn't stress where the choke attaches. We don't want to snap those. That is the caution.Let me know when its out and I'll have one more tip.Started as such a simple thing huh? Daniel

George ,Have you ever removed the console? You know the tricks? Daniel

Oh yeah,When I said" correct switch" of course I meant of correct electrical rating for the task. Daniel ----oh,you were absolutely correct in the term shorting out. YA DONE GOOD!!
  11. Daniel posted a post in a topic in Electrical
It's the switch Bonnie.Resistance causes heat.Thats what makes your burners on an elec.stove get hot.It could be it was the correct switch(although I doubt it) and was just connected by twisted wiring or such. The fact you have to be creative to turn it on speaks volumes. GameOver. Nextup? Daniel

Whoa!! My point was the quality or lack of correct info. It wasn't meant to try to take Dr Phils job! You said the lights got hot and blew the fuses. What didyou mean hot and where. Was it the switch that got hot?
  13. Daniel posted a post in a topic in Electrical
We both know odds are the problem is with the patch job.The reason I ask about the switch configuration is this.If one homemade wire is feeding the switch we know we have two 10A circuits to feed.Thats 20a or #12 minimum wire. Also if the switch is rated less than 20a or if it reads A.C. only that could cause too much resistance and blow the fuses or worse start a fire.Same with wires just twisted together and taped.Someone with the proper knowledge needs to look at that.Oh yeah Bonnie,I got a little laugh from your last post. The way I read it was you ask the guy that did this wrong from the start if the switch was bad and you have faith in his call?? Read it outloud to your self.I think you'll see what I mean. Sorry I couldn't help more. Daniel
  14. Daniel posted a post in a topic in Electrical
Yes ,The color codes are the same.So your is blowing both 10a fuses on the fuse panel?Make sure they are 10a.It's etched on the metal end. Next check the rating and voltage on the switch.Did your ex cut the wires going to the factory switch or just attach his fix to them? How is the added switch attached to the wiring? Is it just twisted wires or what.Next don't blame the poor mechanic for trying to make chicken salad from chicken sh*t.We know it was less than correct when he started.Where is the switch getting its power.Did he go right to the battery? What size wire is feeding the switch. Daniel

To a point.Your question is too general. What's on your mind Bonnie? Daniel

I just remembered. There is a rubber piece that goes around the shifter base at the tranny.Kinda looks like a small shower cap. Then the inner rubber keith spoke of.
  17. Daniel posted a post in a topic in Interior
There is a plastic washer type thing on each side of the shifter where the pin that holds it in the tranny. On the bottom of the shifter there is one that snaps on to the ball on the shifter end. They make your shifter feel better and less vibration. Its easy.Removing the console is the hard part.Have you done that before? Daniel
  18. Seem's nahurry is an excellent handle for you.I 'm afraid english carbs would once again be the incorrect part for you. Z therapy knows whats best.If its the shiny you like that can happen also.Yeah the alt.mess is pretty standard.Like I said. You go in ask for a 240 unit. Those have been around the block and reman. many times. The 280 units. There were more made and they have less reman cycles on them. We all learn. Thats what its all about. Have fun!! Daniel Oh yeah,When you get the new "240" unit let me know if the box reads lt150 or lt160.You know where my bet is....

A newly wed goes to her doctor for a checkup. The doctor he know she's newly wed and ask her is there any question about a man you would like to ask while you are here?YES,she says I have a question about a mans penis. The doctor says well the length is called the shaft and the end is called the head.I'd like to know about the two things that hang down about 12 inches behind the head the newlywed ask. UH,I can't speak for your husband the doctor replied but, based on myself I'd say thats the cheeks of my arse!!!!

TIP. Put a piece of string around the grommet groove.Put the ends of the string thru the firewall hole. When the grommet is put in place pulling the string will pull the inner rubber into the firewall hole.

I can't speak of your exact fan type but,I have seen this set up before.I must assume yours is correct.Since there is no place between the thermo and motor to put one. I guess they figured with the thermo open you get a more correct water temp reading on the rubber hose than mounting on hot metal. Daniel

This is a long shot but here goes. All I read about rearends and driveshafts be they datsun ,gm whatever say to mark the position to the rearend before removal.Seems they are balanced at the factory to optimum true.I always do this .If you did not you may try rotating your driveshaft connection to the rearend. You only have 3 positions left to try. Have fun!! Daniel

Your fix sounds great.I would like to add a tip. When inhouse vacuums or ac drains are installed you reduce the mouth size. That way nothing that gets in the line is large enough to get caught in the 45.Leaves and pine needles are seasonaly tough in my part of the world.A plastic screen may work for you, again here mix seasonal wet pollen with leaves and dust and it make a paste like gorilla snot.Clogs the screen Have fun!! Daniel
  25. Sounds like you got the wrong part.Maybe even wrong part, right box.Take it back and get the correct unit.I suggest a 280z NOT zx unit.Thats probably what you have any way. The LT160 (280z)alt charges at a high amprere than the LT150(240z).Also the 240 units have been reman. alot more time. The 280z unit is more avail.and usually cost less. Most stores cross over and give the 280 unit .Some charge you more for a lt150.You know the connector on the lt150 and 160 comes out and the brushes can be replaced cheap and easy that's the advantage of a factory type unit.Aftermarket mostly don't allow this.Usually thats what worn.If your battery is getting hot don't drive the car as the battery can and will explode. The acid does very ugly things under your hood.
