  1. Is there any kind of protective coating that works below the battery to prevent corrosion in the first place? Seems like excessive washing would distribute more water and acid in a vulnerable area.

That's a bizarre and common error - further proof that ignorance is viral! Frequently shows up in ebay Datsun searches: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=%22datsun+dog%22&_sac=1&_osacat=1281&_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=%22datsun+dog%22&_sacat=0
  6. Wondering if there's any updated impressions of the leather seat covers from Interior Innovations? Definitely the time of year to "encourage" a new set of covers into place, just have to make the Big Decision. Thanks for any help with that
  7. Eight teams of Japanese drivers and vintage cars, Nissans and Datsuns mostly, came over from Japan to participate in the crosscountry Hemmings Great Race this week. Cars include a '71 Z432 and '72 240, 510, 2000 Roadsters, Skylines, and a Toyota 2000GT. http://www.greatrace.com/

This listing's a great example of a well-marketed car, supported with loads of photos and a walkaround video. As usual, some details are iffy but the car's a beauty, shows well, and looks to finish in the 20's later today: http://www.ebay.com/itm/400929206786?rmvSB=true Update: Ended at $25,200

The WD-Zed episode is on youtube. Not a great copy, but it'll do for now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8G8s-LwCco
  10. FWIW - Suspension Techniques has a rebate on bars and other components until the end of this month (May 2015): http://www.stsuspensions.com/rebate/
  11. Thanks, John -- your subjective is much more to work with than not getting any response at all, and I appreciate that

  13. For anyone who's had the chance to compare the two, does the Illumina adjustment range make them more livable than Tokico HPs for a mild street-suspension upgrade - or just more expensive? I have access to Illuminas but still haven't seen this settled. Hoping for subjective, seat-of-the-pants input rather than theory, if anyone's spent time with both options. Car has tired KYBs now and is due for attention.

You're among friends here At the same time, that serves well as a bullshit detector on some CL and ebay listings!

Actually the description is a "rotisserie restoration" -- for obvious reasons. Strong showing for an immaculate car with sensible updates and mods though. FWIW, Mecum also had a tidy '72 4-speed cross the block for $8,000 and an '83 ZX auto for $13,000. https://www.mecum.com/lot-detail/SC0515-213475/0/1971-Datsun-240Z/5-Speed/ https://www.mecum.com/lot-detail/SC0515-220031/0/1972-Datsun-240Z/4-Speed/ https://www.mecum.com/lot-detail/SC0515-212876/0/1983-Datsun-280ZX/Automatic/

No sale at $19,750 - reserve not met.
  25. Curious to try this stuff from Loctite on interior repairs: "A two-part cyanoacrylate adhesive that sets in seconds and develops tremendous strength with just one drop. The activator primes hard-to-bond surfaces such as polypropylene and polyethylene. Bonds leather, cork, paper, cardboard, wood, chipboard, fabric, metal, ceramic, rubber and plastics such as Plexiglassâ„¢, polycarbonate, polystyrene, PVC, polyethylene and polypropylene" User reviews are mixed, but several people complained the glue hardened in the tube before they got it.
