Anywho - this project sat while I made a rotisserie and worked on other Z cars .
When I finally started digging into the project I realized the roof was compromised . More than just the skin- it was the sub structure that was also eaten up with rust . What’s weird is this car is very solid for a 70 . The roof wasn’t salvageable so I decided I would cut it off and look for a donor . If the car wasn’t an early vin , or wasn’t so solid everywhere else I would have cut it up .
Years later and a couple of roofs that weren’t solid enough for me to attempt this - I finally found a rust free roof out of California . Crazy thing is that it also from an early 70 and the same color - lol. No - I have never done this before - so the learning curve is steep . I actually hauled the car and rotisserie to a buddies body shop and we were going to do this together under his guidance . Well that never happened . The car sat there for 2 years and I finally brought it back home .
