I've been working on the ignition system for my 1972 240z, which lately seems like a disaster. I've been working on replacing the old coil and there is a small condenser attached to the positive terminal on the coil with a single wire. It's screwed down to the bracket that holds the coil. I bought a replacement pertronix 1.5 Ohm Coil with ballast resistor, but can't find any sort of condenser for the coil anywhere. I've read a lot on the forums about whether or not this coil condenser is important, and opinions seem to be all over the place. But assuming I want to replace it just to be safe, where can I get the condenser? Or is it even needed with a newer model coil?
