door mirrors
Those look great on your car! I love the look! Hey a question, I noticed that you have what look to be chrome protectors on the body of your z ( the bumpers that protect your car from door dings from other cars) I just had mine repainted, and am debating putting these protective strips on. Can I ask where you found them? Is one brand better hhan another? I'd appreciate feedback on this from you, or any member. Thanks much! Your z is lookin good! K The lil z lady

Help Identify this part! Need Your expertise!
Love that you posted me on this! I've been looking for a z get together here in Vegas! Looks like all past clubs are defunct. So sad! I would love to come! Can you send me location information and dates of get together? Also when you plan to go, and I'll make sure to try and coordinate my calendar! Your right, maybe we could get some club momentum going? I have become online friends with Brian May, he is the president of The Mid-West Z chapter... I think that's his club? Anyway he's very knowledgeable and can surely give us some direction regarding how to get a club started. I also recently met a Mechanic shop owner who specializes in Z's although they tend to do some pretty wild things to them, but amazing work none the less! He's also very knowledgeable and knows many of the older z folk in the valley who were active at one time. Anyway, point is, I think there could be some interest if someone could just start the process! Lets chat! Lmk about the get together, and we can discuss. Z u soon! K The lil z lady

Hi all, I thought I had best update this post. I have found almost everything I need, either from members here, or sadly because I was learning where the best places were to find parts, I purchased on eBay and new.. Expensive! Unfortunately that killed my budget, but I learned much along the way about how to source parts! I have gotten everything I needed on my list There are still a few pieces and parts I'm finding that I need as I continue this process, so I will list anything needed here with an updated list. However I wanted to thank all who helped me on my quest to find the parts on my original list! A HUGE thank you to the awesome community here at CZCC! I'm so greatful that my girl and I found you! Help Identify this part! Need Your expertise!
Ut ooh.... Found a little cancer on my girl! The first time! Most of the damage around the upper right tail light, as seen in pictures. When sanded and removed, Had a small break through in the deck top. Left side had just a tad bit of corrosion, so removed factory caulking and sanded and sealing that area as well. 1st photo: Left side corrosion on deck lid. 2nd photo: Right side deck lid after cleaning. Showed small break through in sheet metal. That's the worst of it. 3rd photo and 4th photo: Right side rust above right tail light, extends towards the license plate. Body man spent the day removing and making proper repair. Have since moved forward with the next paint step.

Rear Hatch Louvers
Thanks to all for your help, I am posting this for others who are looking for louvers. I hope my research is helpful! I have watched for used louvers for about 3 months, and they are either in poor shape, missing hardware or are the drill and mount kind. (A big no no for my z ) Ladyly, are too difficult or expensive to ship. So after research and recommeds, I am going with the Astra Hammond Aluminum louvers. They meet almost all of my criteria ( none seemed to meet all) My criteria: 1) Ease of install, all hardware included -Met 2) no drilling ( slips under the weather strip) - Met 3) aluminum for no warp instead of fiberglass.- Met ( they offer both) 4) Ability to lift and clean rear window easily. - Not quite met, but close (They must be unscrewed with 2 thumb screws and lifted. (Hinges at the top) takes just a Met Hope this research helps others! K The lil z lady

Great info all! I plan to stop by the z shop shortly to try a couple of your suggestions, I'll let you know what I learn. Sounds like the first order of business is to assess power. So I'll try getting the horn to work with screwdriver first, then if no luck check connection and fuse box. If still no luck, sounds like I may have become an electrical sleuth and try my luck at the diagram. All of this information and postings gives me a great place to start! Im off on another z adventure! Z u later! Thanks! K The lil z lady!

Help Identify this part! Need Your expertise!
Hi Zed! Yes your right, this was not the problem I initially started discussing here. Like many things my z refurb., one problem seems to lead to others or at least more questions. I just assumed ( I know.., a truly bad thing!) that since my horn button was falling off, and that the horn was not working, and by looking at other horn assemblies, I must be missing something. It just didn't look right? To anser your questions, 1. The horns are still there behind the grill 2. Not sure about power? I guess I check that by touching with a screwdriver. I'll try that next. If no beep, what do I check next? 3. How do I check to see if they are disconnected? The horn has not worked for some time, so I guess I need to try your suggestions. Any thing to add? Thanks much! Appreciate all the advice to help me solve this little problem. Once my girl is back on the road, I want to make sure I can honk at some idiot who might think to run into us, and undo all of this hard work! K The lil z lady

Thanks all... This forum is truly amazing! So full of knowledge! Where to start... I guess where I left off... Terrapin: nice find! I'm watching and have contacted the seller. However based on the conversation here, sounds like it may not be needed? More below.. Mark: So that's it? I guess I was under the impression that I had a problem 1) Because the horn pad does fall off, 2) My horn doesn't work when I push the pad? Could this be a fuse problem? Connection issue? Or because it's cracked it's not strong enough to connect when I push it? Thoughts team? So do I maybe have bad parts? I know the 3 little metal tabs that connect the button seem worn? So is replacement indeed needed or is it again the issue of the crack? Premo: Thanks so much for the info regarding comparison and the offer of your 77, it seems to be the consensus, that I do indeed have the parts I need. Although they may be worn, causing part of the problem. Thanks again for your kind offer and referral. Nix: Great to know! Thanks much for the link! NVZEE: Great photo comparison, and exactly what I mentioned above; wondering if I was missing something because nothing was inside the hollowed out portion of my horn pad. Other Z's have a metal housing, like in your photo shows (BTW I believe the pad with the metal housing belongs to a 280zx) Zed: No worries nothing purchased yet! Although I am following the link on eBay from terrapin in case I do need pieces. So gang, maybe the real question to address since Mark says I do have all pieces. Is why doesn't my horn work? 1) Electrical? Wiring ( shouldn't be, car is original, no other new components since dealer install originally) - Fuse 2) Worn components that need to be replaced or repaired? - Horn Pad (cracked, see my photo above) - Horn contact assembly ( too worn, needs replacing? ) Do your thing fellow Z'ers! I learn so much through you! Thanks to each of you for your offerings and thoughts! Keep it coming, and I'll keep u posted on success! Thanks much! K The lil z lady

Weird... just took me to a list of steering wheels offered by the website? I found some photos of my horn pad... Not great, but it gives you an idea of what I have. Note, there is a small crack in my pad, but it doesn't seem to impact it much. I plan to replace when I find one in better shape. I also understand you can do amazing things with zip ties! Anyway... so now you have a picture of the wheel and of the pad. Does it look like I'm missing something? Thoughts? Thanks! K

Help Identify this part! Need Your expertise!
Hi Zed and Siteunseen... glad you weren't too many beers down! Thanks men!! Lots of good help! I still have questions and unfortunately the horn pad itself is with my car at the shop so I cant post a photo... (thinking...well maybe)... I'll look for a photo and post if possible. The inside of my horn pad is like he says, looks like a hollowed out marshmallow. But unlike other pads Ive seen, for say... the 280 zx... where there is a metal type housing that sits inside the pad, mine has nothing. I'm sure tonight when I get home and study the diagram it will make more sense. Huge thanks for that Zed! Site if you have a moment tomorrow to send those photos or anything else that may help, Id appreciate it! Any other thoughts? Can I buy this darn thing new somewhere? If so, what would it be called? Well Zed and I are west coasters, but its starting to get late. Site you must be in ZZZ land by now! Any other thoughts are much appreciated, as I need to either buy this part or find something else where. G'night guys, catch ya on the flip side! Hey Zed, you heading to the Z bash in LA next month? That's a big part of my rush... trying to get the old girl ready to show Thanks K The lil z lady

HUGE help Zed!!! I'm going to print these two diagrams and see if I can understand the assembly better. However, in looking at them briefly it looks like the parts I'm looking at would not work. Is that your assessment also? Love your thoughts! K The lil z lady My Steering wheel now... sorry for the glare, but you can kinda see what I've got. The metal clips in the round plastic piece that the horn pad "pops" onto seem pretty worn. Thoughts?

Help Identify this part! Need Your expertise!
OK Z Friends! I need your expertise please...and in a hurry! I have a 1972 240 z that is missing the under the horn pad assembly. I have located one from a 77 280 Z, will it work for my 240z? I will not be using the horn pad from the 77, I will be using my 72 240z horn pad. Thoughts? Will it need modification, or will it just plain not work? If not, anyone know where I can locate just the assembly? I'm right at the finish line with my z being ready, but really need this assembly! I'm attaching a picture of the parts I am looking at from the 77 280z. Ok my fellow Zer's , do your thing! Many thanks!!! K The lil z lady
