Cowl Bonnet (Hood for the yanks)
im south sydney mate. looking for cowl for intake purposes so yeah v8. need to increase carby spacer and get some better air flow. also, the cowl look is much nicer, and more legal, than front facing scoops. cheers for the link. i'll check them out. to be honest i'm thinking that the price of a one off will be a little bit higher than importing one but at least i will know the quality and fit will be perfect. plus if things go wrong with import it's a huge hassle.

Cowl Bonnet (Hood for the yanks)
looking for a talented glasser in aus that might be able to help me with making a 3" cowl bonnet. anyone have any suggestions on where to start? i have checked out all the US ones but they are all 3.5" + and rather ugly imo. 3" is high enough. cheers

Aussie 240Z's Availability
posted this on the newcastle boards and though i might get a response here as well so... i don't really keep in touch with the market so i would appreciate some info from someone in the know. how often do 240's come up for sale and has the price increased considerably in the last 5 years? are we seeing a lot of owners realising that they own something rare thus holding on to them? is it going to get worse?

My First Drag Strip Experience
my times were: 12.346@122.97 11.001@125.71 11.565@124.89 11.170@124.64 11.048@125.05 mate driving 12.161@122.83 mate driving 11.309@124.88 mate drivng 10.990@125.67 thanks for your concern Jim, it's not a game and i don't treat it as such. the car felt very safe, staight and slowed down very well (umm, i unintentionally tested the limits on my first run ) as for setup, well she's a bit of a circuit car that got lost on the way to EC and kept driving to WSID slowly i'm going to set her up for the drag strip. i need some baggy street slicks, possibly play with new suspension all round, diff gearing, a cowl bonnet (hood for our yank friends) to get a higher riser on the carby and the biggest problem, a cage. now i don't mind spending the money on the cage but our state has seen fit to make them illegal and my car is all street legal right now. i don't get that. a safety feature that's illegal but it's illegal to race without one. go figure. i can also shave some weight if i want to get serious but no need for that, i'm just having fun for now. i guess the main figures are 500hp, 490tq, 3.5 diff, 4.5 converter and 1250kg with me in it. the most exciting part for me is seeing these figures in such a bad drag setup. i can't wait to see what she's capable of with some work. it will be a while before i'm allowed to go back. i have to save up a fair bit of money for a cage :cross-eye just as a sidenote, the 240 was a big hit out there. so many people came up to us for a chat and a look. we have to get some more of these cars out there! too many holdens and fords at the moment.

mate, i think i might be going out in my 1.3L 1982 Corolla next time just for kicks. try to get below a 20 second pass! there were guys there driving just normal holdens and one guy was running consistent 17 second passes with a Corolla Seca and he was having a ball.

280ZXT and Z31T CV half shafts in OZ
Which city are you from? Stuart Wilkins is in Western Sydney and just might be able to help you. (02) 4577 2400 Here's his work taken with a phone cam so pics aren't that clear. These shafts are being turned by a 500hp engine with an auto trans, R200 and are holding very well after 70 odd launches with normal street tyres.

An Offer on my Z
Well it’s been a while since I thought of selling my car so I thought I’d resurrect this thread. I am so glad I didn’t sell her! I now realise how much this car means to me after not having driven her since June. She’s been in one shop or another gutted out and I myself feel empty without her. My family wonders why I spend most of my money on a car. I try to explain it to them but I always seem to fail. I was wondering myself and I realise it’s not just any car. It’s rare, sexy, desirable, historical, wondrous… and I’ll stop there before I get carried away. Even my friends don’t understand why. But in the end this car is for me, they don’t need to understand, just accept. I’m counting the days until I get her back. It’s been forever and a day…
