Thanks Steve for your advice. I haven't think about gauge size of the wire. Do you think I should run 10G wire up to relay? or all the way upto headlight? I found some interesting site. https://www.tessco.com/yts/industry/products/itm/automotive/get_wired.html

Hi Zed Head, I totally agree with you. There are many way to solve the problem with adding relay. Since my car is under construction, remove all dash, I think this is great opportunity to upgrade. When I had 240z, I felt the headlight was so dark. For my 280z, I haven't drive the car yet . Once complete rebuilding, I will start working on the replay upgrade. My plan is similar approach with you. Simple way. I assume I can just cut and add some wire in engine bay to add relays :-) Hi Chas, Thanks for the good advice. I originally put 30Amp fuse for each relay, but when I search other example, most of the schematic shows just one fuse. So, I removed it. Your recommendation is totally make sense, I will update schematic with it. Thanks, Takashi

Thanks all the feedback. SteveJ, Thanks for jump in and reviewing my drawing. However, I'm a bit confused your information. High bean(RW), Low bean(RB) connect to 30pin, then RW and RB connect to 86pin? Ground center wire(R and RY), then R to 85pin? Hardway, I use Adobe Illustrator to draw the lines. zKars, Thanks for simplify schematic. That's looks good and better than mine, I think. I found similar schematic not specific to 280z. http://smg.photobucket.com/user/h4lights/media/headlightRelay240Z.gif.html http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads18/944+headlight+relay+harness1289593946.jpg http://www.jeepfan.com/projects/HeadlightRelay/relaycircuit.jpg http://www.geocities.co.jp/MotorCity-Circuit/1623/01vmax_images/07hlb/hlb_kairozu.gif Zed Head, Interesting idea. I think dimmer connection is for mainly earthing for the main switch if you run wire what zKars suggested. Adding those two relay will avoid going high Amp through headlight switch and directly run high amp to the head light.

Hi, I try to find out how I can add relay for '75 280z. When I googled, I only find this one might be accurate info. http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/91938-headlight-relay-for-260-280/ When I trace FSM headlight diagram looks like this. I'd like to add two relays. I'm not sure this is the correct way to add relay. Could you give me advice? Thanks in advance, tamo3

  11. Here is the photo. This is original Alternator. V-pulley consists of 2 pieces. The hole diameter is same. I can just mount it to CS144. Mount the V-Pulley onto CS144.
  12. I haven't measure and calculate the ratio. I will do it later. Got the donor connector from '76 280z. Add diode. This dongle is for '75 280z with 5 wires. Can't use this for other year model.

  14. Shunt! I searched on web, but I could not find any good information about '75 280z shunt. I learn some earlier model has shunt inside of the car (maybe 240z, 260z?) later model is in the engine bay. This is the shunt!

  16. You can grab CS144 alternator from Cadillac DeVille. Try to find 92-94 in the junkyard. The hardest part is to remove pulley. There is taper collar that prevent from removing the pulley. CS144 pulley removal - tapered collar type - International Full Size Jeep Association I could not remove the the taper collar, so I grinded to remove the pulley. Just follow instruction video to rebuild alternator. Part 1 Part 2 Paint the cover too. completed.
  17. I'm working on upgrading electrical system. My car is '75 280z. My goal is : Replace Alternator to CS144 with removing external voltage regulator. Remove Shunt. Add extra fuse with install Maxi-fuse box. (75 has only 2 fusible link) Add ignition relay (75 does not have it) Swap Ammeter and Voltmeter My '75 280z has only 5 wire for external voltage regulator. When I googled, several people encounter issue for the missing #1 wire, which is green/red colored. Blues web site is always helpful. There is answer for this. HELP 75 Alternator swap I just create illustration for this solution. I will keep update the progress.

Hi, A lot of folks lower your car. In order to lift up, you might need some low profile ramp. I notice that low profile ramp is quite expensive. This race ramp cost more than $200. Those ramp are around $40, but it's not low profile. I googled and find a lot of people DIY ramp. some metal version. Those looks professional build. I might end up with.... Once finish using it.... What low profile ramp do you use???

  20. mgood, Thanks for the offer. Your headlight bucket looks brand new! redzedsled, Thank you for the information. I find out it is M5 and I was looking at wrong parts. Actually, I was looking for part #10 instead of #5. - SCREW-PAN HEAD M5 01431-00053 When I try to put it back together, I could not close the gap between fender and headlight bucket as you can see the photos. I was puzzled.... I search around the internet and figured out I put the headlight bucket from the front, not from the inside of the fender! no wonder the gap did not close. Now the problem solved! Thanks again! tamo3
