  1. They are the early lift buckle type.
  2. Greetings, fellow Earthlings, I've been doing a painstakingly slow restoration on a 1970 240z (am in year number 4....so far:ermm:). My Z and I live in Arizona and we are members of Desert Z Association. I wish I had found this site years ago, as it appears as though there is a wealth of information from all of you that could have saved me alot of time and money. Anyway, I am getting pretty close to finishing my project but have come up with snag that I can't seem to fix. I had removed the original 3-point seat belt harnesses in order to have the metal parts rechromed. Now I find myself, some 2 years later, with 8 different belts of various lengths and can't seem to figure out how to re-assemble them. Would anyone have any information/diagram/ instructions on how to re-assemble these? Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. z-ya soon, Mike

The symptom that you described in your post was exactly the same as the problem that I recently encountered in my 1970 240z. A mechanic friend suggested that the problem could be the solenoid in the starter, and suggested that I try tapping the solenoid while attempting to start the engine. The engine fired up instantly when we did this, so I replaced the starter and have had no issues since.
