Thanks for the info guys. I did the oil change already, I plan on changing it at 1000-1500 miles. I went to the DMV and got my red temp tag. The DMV has to inspect it which is better then the chp, I asked why and got two answers, its an out of state vehicle, and someone wrote 76 for the year or just had sloppy hand writing so it was written wrong. Had to explain to the dmv that the car was a 70 when they asked me to smog it and told them it has all the original badging so it will prove its a 70 so they need to see it now. ALl good, I can take her on around the block now and see if she'll do ok driving it home and to the DMV. Damn tranny is still weird, just found a dogleg competition tranny on craigslist, waiting to see if the guy calls me back to see what the price, that would be interesting to drive since 1st is where reverse is and 2nd is where first is, and so forth....

Just got my bill of sale today! I'll be doing the registration asap on my day off. She runs really strong now, seems pretty quick for just driving in the parking lot. I have to address the speedo and the temp gauge before I take her out around the block. I'll be ordering my new ztherapy carbs soon once I pay some bills off.

Bad news on the carbs. a forum member(spitz17) came out to help me sync my carb and we found out theres a leak in the linkage so they cannot be synced. haven't done much since I've been sick at home for 4 days now and theres tons of rain. just got in my redline mt-90 tranny fluid, im waiting for the sun to come out and then I can do the change.

So I have to find an oem exhaust manifold? Hmmm does it have to be for an l24 or can it be from other models I.e. 260, 280?

Will do, I already am looking around for some replacement headers because of this exhaust leak. Took the car around the block and she was definetely stinking up the cabin. I'm going to have to cover the spaces in-between the wire harness and other wires going to the engine bay. Don't want to fall asleep at the wheel now haha......not even funny.

That's what I figured, I don't know why I was told it had to go to chp, I was just going to go to the DMV and see what they say. I wasn't just going to take someones word for it.

Well the car was given to me by a client, he bought it from NM and never registered it when it was bought 2-3 years ago. He was told he had to take it to chp, im going to the chp and dmv to find out if it really needs to go to them because all the old records are in the car and all the vins match up. So I don't know.....

I didn't But it was a cheap one that a previous owner put it. I think it was a old kragen brand.

I'll take a picture today to show where its located at. I didn't think they really had sensors back then, but thats why im asking cause I don't know . Anyways yes the gauge doesn't work, but at the same time the plastic covers on all the gauges on the center of the dash are loose so they make the needles stick, i'll have to fix that. I'll also try and find the color of the wires.

Hey guys! I took my alternator to kragen yesterday during lunch and they said it was bad. It was either my decision to rebuild it or buy a new one. Since I didn't know how to rebuild one and a new one was only 37 bucks, I picked up a new one. I took my battery home, did a full charging over night and put it in today during lunch. I fired her up and let her warm up to operating temp, her idle was way to low so I set it to 850rpms. She's not legal to drive in the street yet so I took her for a spin in the back our parking lot and drove a few circles, she doesn't sound too bad, aside from the small exhaust leak in the headers(filling up the inside of the cabin with fumes YuCK!). I'll be making a short video and posting it when I get home, I'll be doing a tranny fluid change and a break check, and a carb sync before I try to get her registered. I'll be going to the chp office after work today to find out if thats necessary or if that was just a lie, either way she's almost street worthy to get home on her own!!

This weekend I took my radiator out and did some deep cleaning on it plus the hoses. As I pulled the entire radiator out I saw a sensor with a broken wire attached to it, I don't really know where to look, but does anyone know the name of this sensor? It def needs to be replaced.

You can rebuild an alternator?? I didn't even know that! How?

Today was a long day! Took my friend to go work on the car, we dropped the radiator and cleaned it with clr, had to sort of make a part from going to osh and orielys. And one of the carbs wasn't getting any fuel till we found out the float was clogged with oxidization from when I let it sit in my living room while they were off. It's unclogged now, car was running fine after that, till I stalled her driving in the back lot of the daycare and she didn't want to crank. She either has a bad alternator or the alternator charges after 3krpms. So I have the alternator off to get it tested tomorrow at orielys dyeing my lunch break. Man one thing after another . I ordered my tranny fluid tonight from amazon. Got redline mlt-90. So that'll be here soon, I found out have an exhaust leak in the headers near the tranny, maybe that's why it's smells so damn bad in the car .

Well if I'm ordering the hose I can order the valve as well its prob A's old A's the hose I have which is so oily and busted :/

That's the part. So it's called a PVC hose?

Hi everyone, I'm replacing the hoses on my 240z and there's one hose I can't find at the parts store because they don't carry it and I don't know that name of it. It's the hose that goes from the engine block to the intake manifold. One end of the hose is 1inch the other end I think is 5/8? Any ideas?

Finally put my intake manifold back on! That took awhile! Added some gasket maker and sealer. Just recieved my float gaskets from ztherapy, awesome! After this I can change all the fluids and then see if she is driver worthy to go to chp.

Haven't made any updates on here, but Im still making my gaskets for my parts I have off, I've been a little lazy lately with a new dog in the house and manager training going on, Im actually not going to make all my gaskets after all. Main reason being is the xacto cutting is very tedious. So I will be buying the rest from autozone. The last ones being the hardest which are the float gaskets.

Ohh im replacing all the gaskets that I'm coming across, I have a gasket sheet so I'm making my own for all the little gaskets I come across. The exhaust/intake gasket I know needs to be replaced after I have taken off the intake manifold. We don't want leaks now. Thanks for the heads up;) I'm trying to def stay on top of things.

Just took the intake manifold off. Man is it pretty carbony in there too. Iim going to do a soak tonight on this part as I did to the carbs. After I'm done with this I'll put them back on and do the fluid drain. Already took out some coolant while taking off the manifold. That was a screw up on my part nor knowing how much coolant would spill out. I have to do a major wipe down tomorrow.
