    Back in L land!!!!
  2. While the L28 is running fine, the spare L29 was yearning for some attention. Upon teardown, #1 cylinder had a bunch of scoring from detonation. :( The PO warned me it had low compression.. Luckly enough the VO7 crank survived along with the head. An L31 is in the works...
  3. Out for a drive in Socal! Paint work still under construction.
  4. Pink panther parts car! I bought the whole car mainly for the the dash and a couple of other hard to source parts.
  5. Began some bodywork on Saturday, while the weather held up. (: Hoping to have my dogleg replacements put in sooner rather than later. Cleaned out the trunk space, needing some seriour vaccuming action.
  6. Took it out for drive on a sunny day. Great reward after all the time and $$$ spent. *(:

On its way to the shop to be put back together. :laugh:The trans tunnel 'ears' were cut by the PO, I assume to fit that massive V8 trans. So theres also some welding to be done. Additionally the holes from trans mount in the floorboards on each side are also being patched up. How many times do you see more drilled holes, than rust holes in s30 floorboards? I have all the parts, including motor, Z31 tranny, r200, radiator, exhaust, roundtop SU's, brake and clutch MC's, bushing kit, etc. Need to buy a bunch of little things including new motor mounts, gasket kit, etc.
  8. Back on the beat with some supra injectors, fuel rail, FPR, 3' downpipe. Lots of low end power, very lould, will take a vid soon to share.

All four tires went flat, so put on my beloved Westerns! Had to use the old socket bash in to remove the old lock nuts that the PO had installed on the six spokes. Not sure if they were a hot commodity back in the day but anyway, shes now a roller again.
  10. Didnt end up getting the fancy turbo pictured above. ): Stuck with the one I have. Thought a compilation was in order. Most of the pics are in above, not really in order, but anyway see what ya think of a poor mans resto!

Thanks, Not sure on suspension set up, will have to take a look today. For the most part it all looked stock. Theres another shot of her. Dash is almost uncracked too. The work starts today in the rain!

Picked up the redhead today. Cant have more than 50K miles on it with the PO saying its been garaged for 15+ years! Pretty much rust free body which is why I bought it almost on the spot. Red paint is a cheap spray over the original sky blue. Not a true barn find, but as close as I have come. The floors are great, tank, batt tray, etc, no major dents or bodo, doors close great, interior is all there, except.... it got chevy fever ): I'll be undoing the damage tomorrow and pull the motor/trans combo. I have am L29 with a cam that I have been saving a case such as this. And yes if I went to more meetings I wouldnt have this problem!
  15. Its been a bit of a hiatus for the Z. The fuel tank is getting boiled and baffled. MSA down pipe also being installed, and some other fuel system upgrades (Fuel rail, Supra injectors, 044 fuel pump, FPR, etc). Will look to install this Turbonetics turbo at some point also. Still lots of nagging problems before I can start on paint. - Brakes have a vacum leak - Right headlight not functioning unless on high beam - Needs a front end alignment - T5 leaking out of speedo drive Hoping the car can make it to this years Z Bash also,
  16. Thanks Rich and Euro, not quite up to standard, but getting there. Happy its up and running.
  17. Yes, I have an 82 N/a box that needs some new seals, before I swap it out. However the T5, shifts well (without warm up period), so will be put on the back burner for the time being. I pulled some seats from a 2+2 from the junk yard this weekend. Came to $19 each, with the half price day sale. I swapped out the rails, and put the drivers side in. Will work on the passenger side tomorrow. Much more comfortable. Happy with the results. New tires were also mounted on the front, waiting on the rears.
  18. Hi Madkaw, Yes, I am running MS2. The shop I tookthe car to get wired and tuned say the T5 is heavy (which it is), and a pain to rebuild. Rear main seal is also leaking ): See how we go next week when I have some time off.
  19. Not the right time, but couldnt say no. $325 for a pair of S2K's.
  20. Thanks Chas, yes tons of work and time in to it. Working on a video. Will be putting in a n/a 5spd next week with any luck .
  21. Runs! Sounds great, shop did a good job with wiring. More work ahead, some nagging issues to take care of: - A wheel alignment, yikes! - More tuning needed -BMC is leaking, so will have to change out and bleed, - Need a longer clutch slave push rod But very happy to have an exhaust and a running Z after all the work put in getting it to this point. :D:D
  22. Fluids filled! New hood release and cable, battery tray, stalks, lots of little things done today. Awaits a lift to the shop.
  23. Everything is back together again, hood, radiator, front bumper, valance, etc. Tires are too big (225s), but will fix later. Taking to a shop soon to have tuning, exhaust welded, and wiring sorted out. Very happy!
  24. , no driving yet but she is pretty much complete. Bled brakes and clutch, a little wiring and cleaning up done today. First time off the jackstands in a year or so. Back end is a little high but can be done later on. Waiting on radiator fans in the mail. Wiring still being worked out, but the hard labor is done. First phase done! :classic:Lots of work to do with paint and interior but it feels good to be back together.
