  1. Well!!!!rebuilt my carbs.I cant seem to get the floats set right. So before I take a hammer to them I want to give it another try.I have been trying to set the floats by the tweak and peek method. You know take off the domes, pull out the piston, look at the the fuel level.I just cant seem to get them set at that right level.I either cant see the fuel or it is flooding over the top.when I did get it set so the car would run pretty good,I had alot of popping out the exhaust.some call it character.Personally I dont like it.To each his own..Dont worry guys I wont use the hammer.Just blowing off some steam.I will probably send them to Ztherapy for the rebuild.I have heard enough storys about how well they work after Bruce gets done with them.I just wish I had the common sense:stupid: to do it myself..:angry:errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I have my carbs off and want to rebuild them.I am having some trouble finding the right kit for my carbs.I have a 73 240Z with a L28 motor.I was told that this motor is out of 280Z.Is this correct?I know they are the dome type with 4 screws, but I see no numbers any place on the carbs...The kits that I have looked at on line or in a book, dont seem to have the floot valve or the needle valve, just just O rings and a couple of gaskets.Do they not make a total rebuild kit?.............................................Thank u,Matt
  3. Are the Bob Sharp set ups any good. And how do they perform?? I am thinking of swapping out my su carbs and putting one on my 240z.I see one just sold for $349.99 on ebay. Here's a photo..I would really like to know what some of you think. Thanks again.........................................................Matt

  5. Ok hers the deal.got a 240z with a l28 motor.it ran pretty good when i got it but way to rich.so bad i couldnt stand the smell...so...i bought a ste syncronizer and a color tune.i have the carbs. Pretty close now...they were way out of sync.only thing is it runs like crap know..seems to be popping alot through the exhaust.and stalling out on take off.the front carb fuel adjustment had to be turned all the way up to get the color tune blue..and i will also say it was hard to get them both in sync. At an accceptabal idle..actualy i couldnt even use the idle screws on the linkage because it would idle to fast...are the carbs sopposed to open at the exact same time.because the front one had about a 1/4 inch lag from the back carb.so i bent the lever to make up the differance.i know some of the vacum parts that mount on the top, have been taken off.and from the photos that i have seen,it looks to me like that front carb, had some linage hooked to the vacum parts.i was thinking about doing a carb.over haul..hope this all makes sense to you all who read it.feel kinda stumped here hope you can help..

Well i have been working on my 73 240z for about 6 months now.i traded of my sportster straight up for it.and i love the car,but know nothing about them.i have been buying parts here and there..im not trying to get it perfect yet.i really want to have some fun with it first.my son loves to drive it and it makes me happy to see him take it.i think the yonger ones need to learn a little about the vehicles that we learned to really enjoy.well i could go on so i will get to my firsts ? I have been tuning my carbs and think i am zeroing in on them.the ? Is about the lines that can be pluged and the ones the need to run into the air cleaner.it has after market (longflo) filters on it now.do i run the vent line from the valve cover into one of the filters or t the line so it will go to both, and the 2 lines one from each carb...do they also need to go in to the filters..and i dont know what the one that runs to the diver side of the frame is for..im thinking its a vent line for the fuel tank.i know this car is not stock and it has a l28 motor in it,not the l24. It also has a cam,so i am dealing with that also.i have attached a befor and after photo............nice to meet you all...hope some one can help. Thanks again, matt
