Hey, Carl, Can't use politicians mate. They're all under contract to supply hot air to the Goodyear Blimp.   Rick. :devious: :devious: :devious:

Government tax incentives to farmers to increase herds of cattle, sheep and especially .....PIGS would solve all problems. Machinery similar to that used for milking could be attached to the obvious part of the animals anatomy and, after inducing the animals to an extreme case of flatulence, channel the gasses into huge holding tanks for later distribution to "GAS" stations. Rick.

Thanks for the info Mark. The air box gaskets are O.K. and I have the #15 bolts. I'll be Wringi .......er, ....RINGING Warren tomorrow about another matter so I'll check with him about the bits I need. Regards, Rick.

G'Day Mark, HUH ???????????? What's this about threaded hex spacers ?????. As Sgt Shultz used to say, "I Know Nothing". About spacers that is. Where and how are they fitted ??. I thought I only needed the long bolts. POOP !!!. This is the first I've heard of the spacers. The previous owner of "Precious" chucked out the 260Z carbies and installed a couple of aliens with sports air cleaners. (Check out the photos in my thread "How's this for a carby setup" or something like that in the Australian Forum). Bloody dangerous, especially when petrol started pouring out of the hole in the fuel filter directly above the manifold. I was advised to get 240Z carbies, which I did, and so began the search for all the bits and pieces. Meanwhile poor "Precious" sits in the garage. I know the bloke who manages Bolt and Steel Sales in Rockhampton. I'll check with him about the long socket head cap screws if Warren can't help me. I take it that "UNBRAKO" is a brand name ????????. Warren's last email said that he knows he has some of the parts I need, just give him a couple of days to see what he can find. I've had my fingers crossed ever since. Makes it damned awkward handling tools like that. :stupid: :stupid: Thanks for the info. If Warren can't help me and I can't source those bolts locally, I'll take you up on your offer. Rick.

I picked up a diecast model today that had been ordered a couple of months ago. I know there's been some back and forth postings on which manufacturer is best, but I can't fault the model I bought today of a 1970 Datsun 240Z, scale 1:18, made in China by Yat Ming for the princely sum of $39.50 Aust. Even with my glasses on, my four eyes can't fault the detail. The only fault is that they must have mirrored the plans 'cause the steering wheel's all wrong. It's on the LEFT !!!!!!!! Their website is interesting, www.yatming.com Rick.

A/C ????????????????????????????????? I just roll down the windows mate. Here in Yeppoon, a day without a sea breeze is a rarity. I like the colour of your Zed. Would probably gone for a similar colour myself had I not been able to find out the original colour code for my "Precious". When I enquired at the local Nissan dealer, all I needed was to tell him the engine number and body number and "HEY PRESTO" up popped the code on the computer screen. My 260 is also an Auto but I have no trouble with clutch/band slippage. The only changes I've made is installing an R200 diff, chucking out the alien carby set up and installing a pair of 240Z hitachis. Had some fun sourceing an air box but one the members came through with one in bloody good nick at a price I couldn't turn down. (He's another Sydneyite. For that matter, so was I 'till age 20 when I saw the light and joined the Army to get out of there). I'm having a bit of trouble sourceing those long bolts and wingnuts to mount the air box but Warren from All Z Parts is trying to find some for me. He's never let me down so far. Rick.

G'Day Mark, No, mate, that vinyl aint original. With the exception of the seats and hood lining, professionaly done, my wife and I have replaced all other vinyl. Original vinyl was tan in colour but, as it needed replacing anyway, I decided I'd prefer black. The plastic panels in the hatch I cleaned with vinegar, then a good rub down with metho followed by three coats of black vinyl spray paint. Any reasonably proficient motor trimmer shouldn't have any trouble with installing a new headlining. I'll check through my photos and see if there are any that might help. If you're having a new headlining put in, when the windscreen comes out, be prepared for a possible shock. You can imagine my surprise. I was fortunate to find a bloke who took pride in his work. Before painting, it was hard to see where he had welded in the new section. Rick.

G'Day there Simmo, Welcome to the only Zed site you'll ever need to log onto. If you check out the list of forums you'll find one dealing with carbies. If you can't find the answers there, go into the General or Open forums and SOMEONE will give you an answer. Rick.

G'Day Mark, I'm in total sympathy with you mate. No doubt you've read the posts from Seerex. I followed them up without any luck whatsoever. I've been in contact with Jag clubs in Australia and England, (2 Pom clubs didn't even bother to reply), all without luck. To the best of my knowledge, Coenen is no longer in production, which is not surprising after 30 odd years. The best I've been able to come up with is what I'd call "Piping", normally seen around the edges of a seat. Not a perfect seal but it keeps out most of the water and the drains take care of what slips past. I've tried several different weather seals and the "Piping" is the best so far. I'm the second owner of "Precious" and was fortunate to find a contact address of the original owner in the glove box, so I was able to get answers to several questions, one being the origin of the sunroof. Your info is correct, it was a dealer option. Bloody sunroof gives me a headache on a bumpy road though. I spoke to a panel beater friend about the feasability of having the sunroof removed and was told it would be cheaper to replace the entire roof so that idea went out the window. Sorry I can't be of more help to you. Regards, Rick.

After realising that my only contribution to this thread has been my usual smart arse remarks, I decided that it was time to be more constructive. So, (BRACE YOURSELF CARL), Here 'tis. AAHHHH, ...........POOP !!!!!!!! I meant to put this into the BOOBS thread. Rick. :stupid: :stupid: :stupid:

AAAWWWWW, Gee Carl, Thanks for the helping hand good buddy. I'm suitably impressed and greatly honoured to think you went to all that trouble just for me. That is EXACTLY what I'd like to be driving next time I travel to Brisbane and get caught up in the traffic. There ya go Lachlan, a REAL Yank Tank, courtesy of Carl. Rick. :devious: :devious:

CRIKIE BILLY BOY, With all the fatherly advice you're getting, if you only follow half of it you'll be the safest, smartest, most knowledgeable young driver in your town. I think it was Enrique who made the nice comments about our friendly friends in blue uniforms. I agree with him. Sure, there are some nasty cops who will throw the book at you for the most minor offence, but the vast majority are just ordinary blokes and sheilas doing a tough, thankless, disrespected job that most people wouldn't even consider. Now, --- maybe it's because I live in a fairly small town but I've found that a friendly wave receives one in return. If I pass one on the street I'll say "G'Day mate" and receive a "G'Day" back. It pays off in the long term. These days, when they see a Bronze Z coming their way, they sometimes wave first. Rick. :devious: :devious:

A couple of weeks ago in an "Under Privileged" suburb of Sydney, a car was stolen by three young men. They failed to stop for the police, the driver lost control, crashed into a power pole killing the two passengers and the driver ran off, escaping the police, only to give himself up a week later. The youth of the community rioted for a few nights, blaming the police for the deaths of the two young men. Youths interviewed on T.V. taunted the police to --- "come out and play". Adults blamed Boredom as the youths had no jobs and the area lacked services to occupy them. No one mentioned the fact that the "POOR KIDS" shown on T.V. wore the latest fashions and, no one mentioned the fact that, had they not stolen the car in the first place, the accident wouldn't have happened, the two young men would still be alive, their families would not be in mourning and the young driver would not be facing a charge of dangerous driving causing death. Why do I mention the above ?????????????????? To point out that, as the car was registered and presumably roadworthy, (including seat belts fitted and working brakes), it was wrecked and two young lives were lost due to the driver losing control whilst driving at excessive speeds. What a waste of three young lives. Rick.

Hey there Billy boy, Mate, if you know someone with plenty of the green stuff, introduce me to him/her. I might be able to float a loan to augment my disability pension. It's easy for us mouldy oldies with the crinkly wrinklies to point out the mistakes that you youngsters make because we've probably made the same ones decades ago and know what the outcome can be. Please don't take offence at the comments Bill. The older we wrinklies get, the more "Fatherly" we become. Looked at from that point of view Bill, you could say that you have half a dozen or so pseudo dads looking out for you. Lucky you !!!!!!!! Looking at it from the other side of the coin, let's not turn it into a pick on Bill day huh ?????????. Suffice to say that he made a mistake and is paying for it. Regardless of how many "Breats" he has to handle. Rick.

Here in the Land Down Under there's been a lot of controversy regarding speed traps, speed guns and cameras. One line of thought is that it is purely a revenue raiser and has little to do with reducing the road toll. Seems to me that the most vocal are the lead footed petrol heads who purposely disregard speed zones and then whinge like buggery when they get caught. Some months ago, a bloke who was interviewed on a current affairs program complained about receiving numerous letters from the police complete with photos of his car, the speed travelled and the fine to be paid. What showed him to be a complete, utter and total fool was that in each case it was the same camera that caught him. I reckon the more speed traps the better. Excessive speed has no place on public roads. That's what race tracks are for. I started driving at age 17, drove everything from bikes to buses, cars to truck and trailers for 17 years in the Army, I'm now 61 y.o.a. and never had a speeding ticket (because I'm careful not to speed). Can anyone beat that ??? Rick. :devious: :devious:

1984 ???????????? Good grief Lachlan, that's the year I was discharged from the Army after 20 years service !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll have to visit the local library and see what books they have on VINTAGE cars of 1943. Rick. :devious: :devious:

OoooAhhhh, Little Billy's been a bad boy huh ?. And got caught !!. How many "Breats" will your hands have to caress in order for you to afford to pay the fine ?. One thing to remember mate, is that you never get into trouble breaking the law, only when you get CAUGHT breaking the law. If you do it often enough, no matter how careful you are, sooner or later a friendly copper will flag you down for a quick chat. Stiff cheddar mate. Ease up on the foot feed. Rick. :devious: :devious:

G'Day there Jared, and WELCOME. As Dan said, we're mature, friendly people here. Even the young blokes seem older than their years. If you have any questions or need advice, you only need to ask ... SOMEONE will be able to help. Once again, WELCOME and enjoy the site. Rick.
