Hi All, I'd just like to add a couple of lines to thank Kats for the great info and pics (bring 'em on) that he is bringing to this site. It's great! I'd also like to add my support for Alan in the massive argument that has ensued from the first post. I've driven enough old japanese cars (Isuzu Bellets and the like) and world cars (the Gemini or Impluse in the States) to know design concession when I see them. The hand brake is the glaring example in the Zed, and I just want to say that if I did have to use it in an emergency I know which hand I want on the wheel, and it ain't my left:classic: (Same goes for hard driving now that I think about it) Thanks for the spirited argument (discussion?) as I'm learning heaps. Cheers, Ross. BTW: I've seen clay mockups of three possible body designs for the Zed and they are ALL RHD. I'll find the pics and scan them to add some wood to the fireLOL

Hey Chris, Thanks for the offer. How long has it been off your parts car? I've heard that they degrade fairly quickly if they don't have fluid in the lines etc? If not long and it's not too much hassle I'd be happy to take it off your hands.... Just tell me where to go :classic: Cheers, R.

Thanks Chris, Do you remember how much? I'm on a hell ova tight budget at the moment? Cheers, R.

Thanks guys for the suggestions but after swapping the check valve out there was no change at all.... Still limp with the engine running and while watching the fluid reservoir I can see bubbles coming up in there when I'm pretty sure there shouldn't be any.... Master cylinder is definately dead.... Thanks again all. Ross. BTW: Daniel, yeah I adjusted the shoes right out before fitting the drum and even then I should be able to get some feel into the pedal with the engine on..... I think I may have destroyed it with the rust etc you mentioned as judging from the black crap in the brake lines I don't think the system has been bleed in years. Bugga.

Thanks for that BambiKiller, I've bled them in the right direction already (as it's a RHD car with the master cylinder on the "right" side of the engine bay :classic: ) I got a reasonable pedal but not great so I'm hoping that that valve is all that is playing up..... Make it a very cheap operation if it is. Cheers, R.

Cheers, I'll have to check that when I get home.... I recon I've got a spare on the parts car that was working.... Is it strange for it to fail so quickly like that? and is there anything else that should be inspected before I fork out for a new master cylinder? Thanks guys, Ross.

Where's the Check Valve? Is that between the engine and the Master Cylinder? R.

Hi All, This is a weird one, well for me anyway. I'll give you the background first: I've just replaced the rear brake shoes, struts and springs, along with the front springs. On hooking all of the break lines back up and bleeding the rubbish out of the lines I can't get a firm brake pedal. Before starting out the brakes were OK, if a little spungy, now (without the engine running) I can get it back to OK, but not hard. Now the weird bit is when I start the engine the pedal goes limp. I don't mean soft I mean LIMP. I can actually push it to the floor with one finger? I'm thinking dollars and the master cylinder but is there anything else i can check? Any kind of valves that might be jammed? Thanks, Ross
9. Give me your workshop. Now. I'm very jealous :classic: Seriously though it should be a fairly easy resto, I've got more rust in my rear quarter than you do in the entire car! As Metalman said, "Keep the pictures coming" it's always interesting to see what others have to contend with Ross.

While on the Clipsal, the 350Z's showing was a bit poor. I'm not sure if the car isn't sorted yet or the driver was p**** footing around the track, but he really wasn't pushing at all! I was on the main hairpin and almost every other car in the Production race (from 200SX's to the Ferrari's) were getting sideways trying to get out of the corner. Not the Zed driver... He would have won the most consistant lap trophy though:classic: R.

Hey Guys, Speaking of 240K's, did anyone see the one that was on show at the Clipsal 500 V8 race over the weekend? It was a pretty mental setup with an EFI L28 MID MOUNTED! It basically sat next to the driver in the cabin with the brake booster etc moved rear of the driver! Does anyone have any more details above this car? I think it is a Southern Districts CC car? Cheers, Ross.

I've seen it as high as AU$1.109 but I seem to be paying around the dollar mark still per litre. What's it like in the other cities in Aus? Still under the dollar mark? Ross.

I'm yet to see a bad review on the new 350Z! I've got a scanner sitting here next to me so when I get a working cable (damn technology) I'll put on a review that Wheels did ont the 350Z. They road tested it agains an Audi TT (Much more expensive) and a WRX STi (Cheaper). They couldn't find any cars in it's price range that were really comparable. Good read anyway. That link above was good fun, brightened my day a bit :classic: R.

Well it's all hooked back up but I'm not getting anything. On checking the suction line it appears that it's blocked, so I've got to figure out where it's blocked now! If it's not one thing it's another. R.

Cheers for the photo's Zedrally. The PO has indeed removed those two relays from next to the fusible link. I'm going to try and hook the S straight up to the engine and the I.... Well I'm not sure but I've found a pot in the passenger foot well with nothing hooked up to it. I'll try that tonight and tomorrow then get it all back together and see what happens! Thanks again, Ross.

Thanks ZedRally, I'll give it a shot tonight and see if I can get some life. I have only just requisitioned a piece of suitable pipe and I really don't know what I'm going to suck out of the existing piping so I'm not game to stick it in my mouth :classic: Let me know if that is the right one though! Any thoughts on 'I'? Cheers, Ross.

Hey All, I'm hoping that someone out there has had this experience before and can help me out. My 260Z has never had a full compliment of working vents even though the piping appeared intact and all the knobs moved the right way. Well I've finally got sick of it and pulled the dash apart to try and find the cause (the heater doesn't work either but I've figured that one). It's all apart now and I have located a small gunmetal grey pot (for lack of a better word) that should have four hose's connected to it, D1, D2, S and I. Now D1 and D2 are connected and go to the diaphram that operates the flat between vent and feet/demister. What I need to know is where should S and I go??? Is S suction? If so I think it should run through a hole in the firewall to the inlet manifold just next to the brake booster but I can't confirm it as there is no pipe! As for I???? Could someone please shed light on this as it is very frustrating! Thanks again All Ross. BTW There is no AC in this car (it's been removed by the PO).
18. Looks alright but how much and how much rust?? R.

Nah, just in IT and very poor at the moment

Hey Zedrally, It sounds great in theory but have you ever tried to find a rebuild kit for those carbs? The cheapest I could find was a place in Canberra with two left in stock (no one in Adelaide had them) and they wanted $150ea, plus postage. I balked at the price and went and bought an entire 260Z with the roundtops for $500 and haven't looked back:stupid: On the upside I have been told that if tuned properly they are a great carb. Unfortunatly no one knows how to anymore and it can be an expensive process too (I was quoted $300 to tune the flat tops and $50 to tune round tops!) Cheers, Ross. BTW I've got three flat top carbs and a good inlet manifold in the shed if anyone is interestedLOL
21. Yeah Alpha. It's thinner so I think that's why it feels bigger :classic:
22. Both my 260Z's have had the "L" shaped bracket. Just thought I'd add that:classic:
23. Hey Alpha, That 240K wheel is the same size as the Zed wheel..... Not a mm bigger. R

Heya Mellow, Good to see I'm not the only one on here from Adelaide building a decent 2 + 2 :classic: I think you'll find general disdain, but when it comes to driving IMHO the 2+2 feels much firmer on the road. If you want any figures for the 2+2 flick me an email at:Ross Smith . Same goes for parts. Between Z Kid and myself we've got almost every 2+2 part you could think of:classic: Pity you don't want another auto gear box, I've got one in the shed that no one wants! Cheers, Ross.
25. Hey Leeroy, That's the wheel I'm running on my 260Z. Not to bad all in all, and for $20 from the local U-Pull-It wrecking yard I'm pretty happy You should be able to find one on a 240K in a wrecking yard without too much difficulty. Cheers, Ross.
