How much do you spend to maintain your Z?
It's not only the money that we are spending - it's the self reward that all of us get having the cars that we own and drive. It's a sence of pride that comes everytime we start our engine knowing it's not another Ford Mustang or Chev Camaro. Follow the above advise and get the best car you can afford on the front end - be sure to research as much as possible, know the trouble spots for rust, know what to look for with the engine and transmission. Don't buy on emotion (don't fall in love with the first Z you find) - buy educated! Good luck and keep us posted on your find.

[2011] What did you do to/with your S30 today?
I looked at mine - thought about the salt and grime on the roads from the last snow storm knowing that each day is going to get a little longer and spring is another day closer!! Happy New Year to all!

1971 Datsun 240Z Carb Question
Once you take your carbs apart be sure to do three things - research - research - research. You will need to make sure to adjust several settings - replace your float bowl gaskets - reset your floats and so forth. If your floats are set too high the fuel will come out of either your carb(s) or your overflow hose. If your floats are set too low your engine will not have any performance or loose torque and fuel at any random RPM. Be sure to do your homework before you start so you understand the process and what items to have on hand to get your setting finalized correctly. All this has been discussed in detail in the past along with the FSM............the joys of S.U.'s!!

Welcome Advice - Going to buy a 370z
Give me a shout when you want to come up - due to the extreme salt on the roads in WNC I don't get the '72 or the '29 out until the springs rains have cleaned the roads off -

Motor rebuild: list of items and cost, suggestions?
I just completed a complete rebuild - fattened up my cam - increased my compression and new pistons, rings, rods........ - repainted the engine bay - my first recommendation would be to call Dave Rebello and discuss your complete project with him - he has some crazzzzzzzzy knowledge on our engines and a proven track record on the race track. Make the call and get his input - he can give you some guidence on your head - pistons - rods - compression - sell you a few parts or a lot of parts - he knows his stuff.

Welcome Advice - Going to buy a 370z
If any of those cars (new or used) are on the stealers lots on Jan 1st it's costing them inventory tax dollars. Hold themout for two weeks - get them on the hook and chain and they will beg you for the purchase the last calendar day of 2010.........all IMO! It's a different game when you have them and they don't have you! By the way - that Black Cherry is HOT!

'73 240Z wont make it past 60mph
Do you have original flattop carbs or are they the earlier carbs - what carb was used on the CD? Do they have the same setting? I know where the setting should be on my '72 ........what is the setting for a '73 flat top carb? Sorry - I missed the 3screw part - just last month I got my carb float level dead on - mine is set at 15 mm front and back - where did you set yours?
-
The body shop has it now
Great pic's and thanks for sharing - this is the perfect time to replace those fuel lines in the tail section of your car if you have not done that yet - better now then waking up one morning and having gas in your garage floor!

When you say you "rechecked float levels and they are correct" what are they set at and how did you set them?

Bud - Thanks for the kind words! As with any of us that put more money into our cars then they are worth it's a labor of love more than anything else. I would have to agree with you though, there is something about the lines on these Z cars that just keep on talking to me.
