fuel(?) vent hoses inside the car, behind tail light panel??
Two of the vapor hoses are still avalible from Nissan - the fuel tank filler hose is still out there also. The other ones are fuel rated hoses. The rubbers grommets are still out there also - PM me if you need more info. I pulled my vapor tank - fuel tank. Replaced all the hoses - POR15'd everything. I had my rear suspension out so everything got refreshed over the winter. Also cleaned the ground and connections for my fuel tank sender. Looking forward to firing her up to see how much of the cabin fuel smell is gone. Also going to 1 click hotter plug to help as well on my Mikuni's.

240Z Dash with cracks - Cap or Refinish?
I would knock it out if it were mine - if not the "I wish I would have done that" syndrome will fall upon you...............that is going to my next winter project. I'm going to attempt to knock it out myself and if I don't like the results I will send it off to be re-skinned.

Can of Worms Opened...Can I trust Datsunparts LLC for a transmission
I purchased a 5 speed from Datsun-Parts LLC - "completely rebuilt by a professional company" was the pitch. I bought it - 1 year later had to rebuild it. I should have bought one from the a salvage yard - complete rebuilt - fresh POR15 and I would have been good to go. He did tell me to ship it back to him and he would have his company rebuild it again...........I said NO THANKS. Datsun Z 240Z 260z 280z 280ZX Rebuilt 5 Speed Transmission Close Ratio | eBay Once you go to a good 5 speed with the correct diff - you will NOT go back to a 4 speed!

Just ordered my Rebello 3.0, now what
Tell us about the build - block / head - - flat top pistons? expected compression? - specs - cam - carbs - headers - gearing - transmission.............need more info. While the engine is out it's a great time to have the engine bay painted - review your brake lines and the male ends near the wheels.........you have room to work. Great time to clean up any wiring issues and run Dave's light upgrade in the wiring harness along the front frame. With the added power you need to think about brake upgrade......vented rotors in my opinion are a must...the solid one's warp like hell with any any heat for an extended period IMO. I'll never go back to solid rotors. ............the sky is the limit with enough money. Be sure to think about the diesel crank for a stroker..........you're almost there.

rear su carb not fueling
Sounds like the root of the problem is still un-resolved. How did the "dirt / crud" get into the filter to begin with? Go ahead and get some gaskets from Bruce. Everybody with SU's has a few extra in their tool box - you'll need them before its over.

Window crank handle - what is the trick to get it to stay on the regulator?
Once you get it on - wait until you try to take off!

Pictures of my plugs. Too Lean?
That reminds me of "This is your brain..............this is your brain on drugs" with the frying pan back in the 80's. Great Marsh-mellow viewpoint...........never thought about it, but it fits!

Pictures of my plugs. Too Lean?
Costjo- You got things a little backwards - get a solid tune up before you start trying to look at your plugs and listening to your valves. Get a valve adjustment compelted, then do a complete tune up including timing setting. Get all the majors completed and then start with your SU adjustment. Reading plugs should be last on your list. The first thing on your list needs to be to read as much as your can if this is your first Z. There is a lot of knowledgeable folks on this site that enjoy sharing their knowledge, but you got to help yourself first by digging into research (just like all of us have) to learn how your Z operates (or find a skilled mechanic). Keep us posted with your results.

The benefits of having an air fuel ratio sensor. A more power from your engine will come from being a little on the phat side. Lots of questions to be asked about this reading. Not nearly enough info.

rear su carb not fueling
Call Bruce above and get some carb bowl gaskets - they will curl up on your like pretzels.................sounds like to may want to pull your tank - have it sealed and start fresh. If your clear filter is in line with your tank (and nothing between) really sounds like sediment and rust in the tank. With this type of problem you must find the root of the problem and fix it. If you do pull your tank it's a great time to freshen all your vent lines and fill tube. Refreshing these lines will help reduce the fuel smell in your Z's interior as well. If you do take your tank out - right above the sending unit on the tank is the ground wire for the sending unit. Unscrew it and get your connection bright and shiny - it will help your tank reading on your fuel gauge. Also the other end of the wiring harness (in the back hatch area - right next to your passenger tail light) is the spade connectors...........pull them and clean with a small file to ensure good contact - this is what powers your signal to your fuel gauge....................one project always leads to a few more..........but all worthwhile.

Surface rust on all parts underneath I assume from salt
I would start with a strong pressure washer with a POR 15 Marine Clean on a 1:1 ratio ran with hot water - the follow the above steps with the bug sprayer and acid. For the acid to do it's job be sure to keep the parts wet for approx 15 mins. Be sure to protect your skin and eyes. The Marine Clean does not smell strong but it is industrial and will kick azz............plan on getting very wet.

[2014] What did you do to/with your Z today?
It's one of those "while I am at it" projects. What else would you do if the rear suspension, exhaust, diff, struts were out of your azz end? Yep, pull the tank, evap tank, return lines............"while I am at it"! Vapor hoses are a PITA - two parts are left from Nissan - 1 is formed - the other is not. All 5 lines different sizes for venting.......WTH!! Break out the POR15 again.........might as well do the EVAP tank and the gas tank "while I am at it"..................let's see what else I can find back there. I've already checked all the rubber plugs to make sure I'm keeping exhast fumes out.....just ordered a new filler hose...."while I am at it". Damn - I'm glad I've got an understanding wife!!
