Has anyone had any problems with a Kaminari K020020 body kit?
  2. Does anyone know if Erson makes a good cams kit? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1826990526&r=0&t=0&showTutorial=0&ed=1021244417&indexURL=0&rd=1
  3. So I should replace ALL the rubber hosing just to be safe for the fuel tank? I guess I'll be calling up MSA for new hosing
  4. Should I replace all the fuel tank hoses while I swap the gas tanks? Even if the hoses are still in good shape?
  5. Do you guys think this is a fair price for that head with what it comes with? I might be able to use it considering my head might have faulty valves... A compression check on my engine was like 135, 75, 55 ,35 35, 75. My dad told me could be bad valve, but then I guess it could also be bad piston rings or head gasket... oye... but I guess if this is a good deal then it might be worth the money to have a head ready to go (According to the post) and for the compression increase. Think it's a good deal?
  6. The Z garage notes that one version came with smaller valves and larger valves? If the performance increase very different from the two versions of the heads?
  7. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1824241858 Were they really two versions of the E-88 head? And if it does exist is there really a big performance difference?
  8. Okay 18 gauge it is, thanks guys. Yah I'll definetly practice on some scrap first... I can afford scrap metal I can't afford to get a another Z!
  9. What kind and thickness of metal should I buy to patch up body panels like the fender? Can I just go down to ACE hardware and pick up a sheet of whatever is handy? I posted a thread about welding and found out I'll be able to get my hands on a MIG welder but I guess it'd be good to find out what kind of metal I should be using to weld on to the car Thanks!

Thanks again everyone for the feedback!
  11. Sounds good, tranny fluid or 20 weight, I've got a few Z books but either I didn't look good enough or they didn't mention that little tid bit of information. Thanks for feedback!
  12. Thanks for the feedback guys. I checked out the front bumper swap but I think there are some complications. I think I see the bolt holes in the front on the 260z that the 240z. The 240z isn't using a shock for the bumper and bolts directly to the frame. But on the 260z it looks like they welded on this extra bracket for the shock mounts. If you don't know what I'm talking about I'll try and post some pics or at least a drawing later... but it seems like in order for me to mount the 240z front bumper I'd have to cut that bracket off the 260z. The front frame looks pretty much the same with the exception of that extra metal. Would it be structually unsafe if I cut that off??? Would I be able to pass recon?
  13. This might sound like a really elementary question, but what kind of oil do i put in the SU carbs? and how do I know when I've put enough? Do I just fill it till the dip stick thingy on top is covered in oil?
  14. Nope sorry no fiche But yah I do have those bumper shocks on the 260... I wasn't going to bother taking it off the 240z unless I could get a reasonable educated guess from the forums, but yah maybe I should just try take it off and fitting it.

I have no experience at welding, so I'm wondering whats the best welder for body panels? Or if I need to minor door repair welding? If i'm going to cut into the car to weld sheet metal in, would a MIG be best? I have a friend with an arc welder that I might be able to have him help me but he was saying that the sheet metal might be too thin. errr... And then my friend mentioned propane torches? Then theres wirefeed? I'm confused Little help?
  16. Thanks for the advice 2ManyZs, I think i'll look into grabbing some from the junk yard from a 280z.
  17. Will the front and rear bumber be able to bolt onto a 260z? Or would I have to make some modifications? Or is it not really worth it? I only ask because I have a 240z with decent chrome bumpers and my 260z with shall we say less then imaculate bumpers (RUST!). Thanks!!!
  18. Is there a passenger side view mirror I can cut and mount on my passenger door??? Or am I stuck with one drivers side view mirror?

Thanks for all the feedback guys, this webpage is great, it's probably saved me loads of money already just reading the articles aswell as getting feedback from people.

Thanks for the info guys Is there any fuel pump out there you could recommend? I've been browsing through some of the NiSMO links on this webpage and saw some performance fuel pumps, and I've got Victoria British and a MSA catalog... any suggestions?

On the L26 they started used a mechanical fuel pump supplemented with an electrical fuel pump. Do you need the electric fuel pump for the vehicle to run??? Or does it just need it for performance (I read somewhere it only kicks in when the engine revs high???). I haven't taken it apart, but it hasn't run in 10 years and I'm thinking either I might need to replace it or at the very least replace it's filter. MSA had an electric fuel pump stock replacement for $200+, but there was a electric fuel pump in the performance section for $60+. Is that fuel pump supposed to replace the mechanical fuel pump? Or can I use it to replace the electric fuel pump by the fuel tank? Or what would be the best route (pump wise) for me to get my 260z up and running?

Thanks for the info guys. I'm guessing it would be a lot more worth my money to try and rebuild a L28 then my L26 I've got in my garage then? I'm trying to give my 260z some power since it's heavier then the 240z.

Does that mean the GROSS HP for a l24 is 150? And if the gross HP for a l26 is 139, how is that if it has more displacement? Would those non-emission carbs help?
  24. mattymatmat posted a post in a topic in Engine & Drivetrain
I believe there was a post addressing something about this before, but I was wondering if someone could just clarify for me. The L24 puts out about 150 hp, and the L26 puts out about 139 hp? The 240z tech webpage has an engine spec section where they list the L26 as having 162 or so hp. Is that the engines potential base hp? As in with all the smog pump things removed? I've been told the emission laws cracked down on the 260z's at the time, so would an L26 be close to that 162 hp figure if I used SU carbs from a 71 240z? I've got a L26 I was thinking about restoring, so when I saw 162 hp I thought that might be a sweet deal, but I've also seen that lesser 139 figure... Could someone clarify? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
