Cost: The entry fee for each race day will be $30. This will get car and driver into the track and racing. Spectators are welcome and entry is $13 for an event.

I have a friend that runs the Corvette Challenge at Moroso and this is the trial run to do something similar for the Z's, this event will serve as the trial run to see if there is enough interest and people enjoy the event before committing to a full season in 2009 at which time the events would be once a month on Saturday nights.

It doesn't matter how fast your car is just how well you run the quarter mile, a 150hp car could beat a 600hp car.

The Challenge is based on 1/4 mile bracket racing, which works as follows:

On race night you are given a couple of runs, which are used just as practice, and to see what times your car runs.

Then at eliminations (same night) which are single elimination tournament style, it's you against one other racer. You select a time that you think your car will run. That's called your dial-in.

When two cars compete, they subtract the dial-ins, and the slower car gets that much of a head start. The theory is that if both drivers get identical reaction times, and both run what they predicted, they will meet right at the finish line... a tie. In practicality, this never happens. Reaction times will differ, and the car may run quicker or slower than predicted.

If you run quicker than your dial, you lose! This is called a breakout. Basically, this means that you want to guess exactly what the car will run. If you guess far quicker than what the car can run, you won't be able to run fast enough, and your opponent can easily beat you to the finish. If you guess far slower, a practice called sandbagging, it is very likely that you will break out and lose.

Also if people are not familiar with the rules you can read them here http://racemoroso.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=category&sectionid=8&id=4&Itemid=26

I am interested if anyone goes to this if they can report on how/if the track reconstruction is doing.

Also if the plans to build condos around the track like a motorsport club is still going on.

Miss doing track events there.

Thanks, Tom
