just in case anyone in this area is interested, I thought I would post this. Came from another site, my apologies Mike, my loyalties lie here though.:D

Bay Area Z Car/Datsun Meet in Rio Vista!

It is official, car show/BBQ/swap meet in Rio Vista!

The date: Saturday, April 6th.

The Time: 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM

The Location: Rio Vista Muffler on Airport Rd.

The owner’s father raced 240Z's in the '70's and won at Daytona and other tracks--he will be there with his heavily modified street Z. He is also bringing LOTS (read 30 years collecting) of Z car parts to sell. Please feel free to bring your extras to sell or swap.

The shop’s three lifts will be available to all; just take a ticket and get in line (the idea here is inspection and photos, not wrenching). Eric Neyerlin (Zparts) will be there to shoot the whole thing, and pictures will be posted on his site for all you who can't make it. The meet’s emphasis is on modified '70-'78 Z cars, but all are welcome including 510's, Roadsters, and the like. We have arranged to accommodate about 100 cars. Please be advised that most of the parking lot is gravel and dirt, so no burnouts allowed! J

The BBQ will be hotdog/hamburger/chips/soda $5

Directions to Rio Vista

Rio Vista is at the intersection of Hwy 12 and the Sacramento River in the heart of the California delta.

The site of the meet is Rio Vista Muffler, 1105 Airport Rd.

>From the Bay Area:

The easy way:

Take 880 north to 80 east to Fairfield. Or, 680 north to 80 east to Fairfield. From Fairfield take Hwy 12 east 24 miles to Rio Vista.

The scenic way:

Take 680 or 80 north to Hwy 4 east. In Antioch Hwy 4 turns north and becomes Hwy 160. Take Hwy 160 north over the Antioch bridge and continue 12 miles north to Hwy 12 west (left turn). Cross the Rio Vista Bridge and you’re there.

Hwy 160 is the levy road that follows the Sacramento River.

Come prepared, the Carquinez, Benicia, and Antioch bridges each require a $2 toll to cross north. Going home is free.

>From Sacramento:

The easy way:

Take Hwy 5 or 99 south to Hwy 12 west. Rio Vista is 17 miles west of Hwy 5. Cross the Rio Vista Bridge and you’re there.

The scenic way:

Take Hwy 160 south out of West Sacramento. Or Hwy 5 or 99 south to Twin Cities Rd. west to Hwy 160 south. Follow the signs and stay on 160 south to Hwy 12 west. You will cross several bridges. Cross the Rio Vista Bridge and you’re there.

Hwy 160 is the historic highway through the delta and is a beautiful drive. Be advised it is not the place to practice your high speed driving. It is a two-lane levy road for most of the way with little to no run-off room. Lush farmland is on one side and the Sacramento River on the other. Crosses that dot the road in several places give testimony to its unforgiving nature. Don’t be afraid. Just take it easy and enjoy the scenery and you’ll have a great time.

Once in Rio Vista:

If you got there by crossing the Rio Vista Bridge:

Take the very first right immediately after the bridge. This will put you on River Rd. going north. Take the first left onto Airport Rd. Rio Vista Muffler is about ½ mile up on the left.

If you got there from Fairfield:

Slow to 35mph as you drive through town. Take the last right hand turn before getting on the bridge. The Rio Sands Motel will be on your right and Able Chevrolet will be on your left. Turn left on N. Front St. then right on River Rd. Take the first left onto Airport Rd. Rio Vista Muffler is about ½ mile up on the left.
