Poor #299: Not for the feint of heart!
I've seen *far* worse. The rust monster hasn't eaten her up yet, but that having been said, it's a major undertaking.

It'll take you 2 minutes to set up a user account there. Classiczcars has a TON of talent, as does zcar.com. BUT, the undisputed masters of all things V8-related reside over at hybridz. If you can jam it under the hood of a Z, it's been done by somebody over there. Not tryin' to get rid of ya, just tryin' to guide ya!

Coupe Or 2+2
I'd say 20MPG in the city with the auto trans is a low probability. With a stick, maybe. Cold-air intake? At best you'll get *marginally* more dense air charge feeding your plenum, but i seriously doubt it will have a measurable impact on mileage. Guess you need to get it running first and see! Good luck to you, I hope that happens sometime soon.

I'm getting around 15 mpg in town , and around 20 at 75-80 mph on the highway. My 2+2 is an automatic, and my carbs are pretty well shot. I just ordered a rebuilt set of SUs so I'm hoping to see some better numbers when they're installed

You might want to ask that one over at hybridz.org

Maybe down under, but here in the states they are relatively rare!

MSR Headlamps question
I'm running Autopal MSR H4 lights with standard wattage bulbs on my stock 260Z headlight harness. John at h4lights.com assures me there is no more current draw with this setup than with sealed beams, and so far I notice no great amount of heat from the fuses or any other indication that anything is amiss. The MSRs light output is excellent and the low beams when aimed properly put the beams in the right spot and are no hazard to oncoming traffic. The high beams are brutal, more like pencil beam driving lights and definitely blinding should you be coming at them, remember to dip the lights and you'll have no issues. I'm very happy with the service I got from John at h4lights.com, he's a z-guy and knows his stuff. I can definitely recommend the Autopal units, they're fine lights!

SBLAKE - You're 100% right. The weight reduction was a welcome bonus, but I did it for the appearance.

Yeah, those wheels are not very common, believe me I have no plans to toss them when the Rewinds go on! I like them a lot, I just need something to fill out the wheelwells better. It looks OK now--but I know the 16's will make a huge difference. Hey Bigoak, I wasn't "irked," I just felt the need to jump in and defend the "limoZine" owners and their rides. BTW, I plan on balancing out the extra weight a little more by bolting up the Maxima N47 head I've got sitting in storage, once I have it ported nicely. Look for that in the spring :devious:
