  2. Funny enough, as I'm getting ready to write this up for you guys, I see some one has one on doing power windows in a (240K). I'm going to do a full spread (with pictures and step by step stuff) on power windows in a 240Z. "Why" you ask? 1) Cause when I'm buckled up (seatbelt) into my 70' 240Z, There is NOOO reaching the passenger side window without almost causing an accident. 2) When it's hot outside and you don't have the luxury of A.C, It'll be nice to hit the switch and roll down the window. 3) It'll get me browny points with the Wife, cause she too has trouble getting to the handle when she is buckled in. (if she's happy, I'm happy) 4) I CAN'T POSSIBLY BE THE ONLY ONE HERE (classiczcars.com) WHO WANTS POWER WINDOWS IN A 240Z. So over the next few days, I will post progress and Pictures of the install. It's pretty bad when it takes me longer to post and develope pics and tell all the "how-to's" then it does to put in the whole kit and wiring. AS soon as U.P.S. shows up with my wire harness supplies and power window kit, I'll start the project. More details to follow and also..... What do you guys think about power windows in (a) or (your) early model Z??? Dave.
  3. So, my "new" 73 has a new master cylinder and the other day I found it a bit hard to stop. Peddle is rock hard. Pulled the vacuum line imagine bay side.n it let out a Lil wet vacuum noise. Cabin side I can hear a squishing release sound. The kicker is, i'm not losing fluid into master. In fact it's,very full. Any ideas?
  4. I have a 72 240z. When I bought it two years ago it had a rebuilt engine, performance cam, header, stock carbs. The problems I have are it tends to run hot, gets poor gas mileage and the power seems to stall at higher RPM and sounds like a jet at higher RPM (from the motor not the exhaust). It never misses or stumbles, it just stops accelerating. I have replaced the cam with a new stock cam. That quieted down and helped it run a bit cooler, but it still has the problems. The dwell is correct and the timing is correct. Both the vacuum advance and centrifugal advance are working. The rear carb is running a bit rich (black plugs on the back three) but the carb is adjusted as lean as I can make it. Below 4k RPM is has good power and the motor is quiet even at full throttle. Any ideas?
  5. Hey guys, i have a 75 280z, and it's taken me about 2 months of spinning my wheels to finally get on here and ask about this problem. I've looked at everything i can think of in the car. my fuel pump will not pump gas into the engine, it's not getting any power. i've checked the connections, and gone through as much of the harness as i can get to at the moment. and i haven't been able to find any problems, i replaced the pump to no avail. (i tested the old one and it definitely was faulty anyway) but i was wondering what else i should check to find the problem. this car has been my dream car for a long time, and i really want to get the thing up and running. any help would be appreciated.
  6. Just picked up a 1974 260 with an L24 engine, eventually I plan on rebuilding the car frame up and swapping out the L24 for an L28 turbo, but would at least like to have some fun with it till I get the money and a place to do the rebuild. Unfortunately the L24 with dual weber 32/30 carbs seems to be lacking in power. I know that it at least needs a valve adjustment( a bit of annoying tapping). But other than that it runs great the carbs seem to be fine. When i rev it up it sounds awesome and doesn't flutter has consistent pull all the way through the power band. But just lacks in power all together. My brother has a 4 banger prelude rated at 161 hp and it feels 10x more powerful. In fact, im pretty sure my POS old F150 with the original 4.9iL 6 could beat my Z off the line .....sad. Is this what I should expect? Would timing the valves improve horse power that much? Should i learn how to tune up the carbs? Where should i start? Any help/suggestions much appreciated.
  7. Hey guys-- Just bought a 1982 280zx and working diligently to restore it! I have a little issue that maybe somebody here has dealt with before. I'm trying to replace the Power Steering Rack but one of the power steering fluid lines (metal with bolt-like head) has a bolt that is worn down to the point where a wrench cannot grab it successfully! Any thoughts on how to remove it? Or should I scrap it for another line? Thanks!!
