So, let me start off by saying that classiczcars.com is by far the most helpful, accurate Z Car website by far. Thanks to a write up by BlueisNow, I was easily able to swap the internals from a 280z tach into a 240z tach and now my tach reads PERFECTLY! Big up to the man like that.. So, now that I've swapped it, the backlighting will not turn on, neither will the blinker lights. Any of you fine gentlemen ever experienced this before? Thanks for reading, C

2 days ago I noticed that my switch on my right lever (that controls the headlights driving lights etc ) was a little "sloppy" which is the only way I could describe it , I would turn it to the driving lights only at it would not work until I gave it a little extra push and it would work just fine . Now my driving lights won't come on , my dash is pitch black and even if I turn them all the way until my headlights come on , still no driving lights or dash lighting . Any ideas ok where should I start ?

Hi y'all, Sorry if this is a repeat, but I haven't been able to find an issue quite like this in the forums. I've got a '76 280z that I purchased with a 5 speed from a later car already installed. The reverse lights stopped working a few weeks ago, so I checked all the connections, replaced the switch, swapped bulbs, and I still get nothing. The strange thing is that when the car is running and I shift into reverse, or press the switch manually without it being installed, the red "charge" light in the voltmeter comes on. There is some voltage coming through at the sockets, but not a full 12 volts. All other lights and switches function perfectly, I've checked the FSM to insure that the wires I'm plugging into the switch are the right ones, and I know they're the same ones that came off the old switch because I removed the old one and installed the new one myself. Has anybody out there experienced anything like this? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! -
I have made only one set of 240Z LED tail lights for the sole purpose of selling on this site only. If you have seen my "posi burn out" video and noticed them there or even seen my gallery, you'll know what I'm talking about. Here's what the lucky winner will get... One set of 240Z tail lights (Left & Right) They have been torn apart, cleaned, polished, refitted with Super Brite L.E.D.'s (14,000 mcd) and wired to run the same as most tail lights are (parking lights on upper half and brake lights are both upper and lower sections. I polished the plastic as best as I could. I removed the inner reflective plates and reworked one of them for each of the Reverse lights. they're much brighter now. The parking lights consist of 12 red LED's The brake lights are all 50 LED's The upper plate has 32 and the lower plate has 18 led's I polished the chrome and repainted the inner black of the center trim pieces. I also inserted new felt into the lower drain holes. There is one screw in the middle of the center trim but it's barely noticable. This was neccesary because it's nearly impossible to seperate the two halves withouth snapping the center holding pin. The small screw is much stronger than the original plactic piece anyways. I have put a lot of thought and hard work into these, not only because it's what I do, but because I know that a few of you had stated your interest in a set. I did a better job on this set than the ones that I put into my own car. I am asking for $225 and a decent set of tail lights in return (a kinda core charge-so I can build another set in the near future.) Keep in mind that these are (100,000 hour LED's) This means that they can stay on for over 11 years straight (24/7) 365 days a year for 11.41? years. That means that they'll probably outlast the car. For a better idea of how they look, check out My gallery Or check out the posi-burn out video, even in the daylight, they are brite enough to easily be seen through the smoke. Or the video I made just for this thread LED taillight video on "putfile.com" it takes a little while to load up but at least you'll see what I mean. E-mail me and I'll get back to the first person who can get the Money order and spare lights into the mail first. I WILL make more at a later date but I'd like to see how this sale goes first. And remember that the lights you send me will most likely be rebuilt for the next set I make, so make sure they are at least rebuildable for the next guy. Thanks for reading, Dave.

I've been searching around the forum most of today trying to find something similar to the situation I have on my '78 280Z. All of the parking lights work and the lo-beam headlights work. When I turn on the hazard lights, only the driver side front and rear light blink plus the left arrow on the tach - the passenger side lights are dark as is the right arrow on the tach. Neither the left or right turn signal function. All of this used to work not that long ago. Any thoughts on why hi-beams are out and why the hazard and turn signals are malfunctioning? I just yanked the center console out and checked the Hazard Switch and it seems in good working order. I replaced the turn signal flasher not that long ago but I think the hazard flasher is the original factory model (love where they put that one - SOOOO easy to get to ). I've taken apart the cover to the steering column but haven't really touched any of the inner workings yet. Thanks!

I keep being asked to show pictures of my LED converted tail lights, Front markers, LED sidemarkers, custome tail light panels and other similar items. So If you have had your Panel modified, Tail lights swapped for something else, or if I did your LED Conversion, PLEASE Post a good picture of your rear-end. (no pun intended)

Hello everyone. I went for a night drive the other day and after going over a speed bump, my dash lights went out. Tonight however I noticed that the side lights and the parking lights do not work either. The fuses were all checked and replaced. The headlights, turn signal/hazards, and break lights work. Any suggestions would be appreciated, as always.

So i just bought this 1983 280ZX turbo and my brake lights are not working. the bulbs are fine because they come on when i turn on my running lights, but when i press the brakes they do not light up as they should. Im a newb when it comes to working on cars, especially Z's. but i want to learn everything about this car in and out. hopefully somebody can help me out with this issue. Thank you, Andy

This morning when I turned on my running lights (right after starting the engine) I noticed that they were flickering along with my instrument lights. The car ran as normal and after driving for a few miles the flckering settled down and went away. The car is a 71 daily driver with no previous issues like this. I have a new alternator and new battery. Any ideas? Thanks.
