lookin for 240z Socal
I know the owner of this car. Looks like he did a great job on it. I would highly recommend the car based on what I know about the seller. The owner recently did a job for a friend of mine, good quality job. The only down side to a 78 is SMOG.

Broken in....
Last night my 73 Z was sitting on street in front of my house....it was broken into for the cheapo JVC stereo. The shitty part is that they damaged my passenger door lock to get in...which really sucks considering I KNOW I forgot to lock the driver's side door last night. A real moron for sure. I have never had any problems on my street in the past, and maybe this is just a freak one time thing. The good thing is that I left the removal tools that came with the stereo in the car, they did not damage anything removing which is good. It is easy to buy a new stereo but not so easy to buy the bezel. I will get a new unit and take the face off nightly from now on. Just venting.

What's it worth?
Backyard-junkyard???? Things are different here in So-Cal, I can't image the Mrs. would appreciate an engine sitting in her Oasis. I will sell it or junk it. It will never go back in the 71Z, this car is getting torn down to be rebuild into a G-nosed Japanese style race car. I am building it for my friend who grew up in Japan, he currently works as a marketing brand manager for Nissan. He has plans for the car and its originality will not be in the cards ever again. I sell off most of the parts and replace them with the items he wants in it. I will list the engine for $100.00, I think the E31 head is worth that much alone.

What's it worth?
I got 2 L28s sitting around and gave another one away last week.

What's it worth?
I will be removing a perfectly working 2.4 out of a 71Z and replacing it with a 3.1. I want to sell the engine, my idea is to leave in the car until it is sold, that way the buyer can drive it and hear it run. I plan to sell it minus the carbs and header. The engine runs great, very strong and fast. So how much does anyone here think I should ask for it? Of course you can PM me if you are interested. I will list it here in the classifieds and on Craig's List San Diego. I just did not know how much to ask for it.

What you have to understand about the solid car I have, it was a perfectly fine car but my friend is crazy so it wants it torn down. I almost had him convinced to sell it and start with a less perfect car, like a rust free shell like the one that was on Ebay a month ago. If your budget is $3500 for the car itself, you will do great and not need to worry too much about the things you said above. The most important thing you can do is make sure that there is no rust on the floor boards, under the battery tray and the frame rails.

You will do good at that price....just keep looking at Craig's list, especially Orange County and LA. I have a $3500 71 that my friend purchased off of Craig's List LA back in February. It was in good condition when I got, a nice car but it was purchased to be redone w/3.1, G-nose, over fenders, stripped out interior, etc...should look sweet like the cars you might see in Nostalgic Hero or Options 2 magazine. Back to my point, $3500 should get you a good solid rust free So-Cal car. Are you a member of the Z Club of San Diego? It is another good place to get in touch with cars.

You know the land that All Z was on is now a newer vehicle recycler and pretty much a sh*t yard. It is not as though they turned the property it was on into a business park or something. The area is still a bunch of salvage yards including Pick ur part and Ecology. Don't get me wrong I understand what you said, when I go to Ecology now there might be 2 or 3 S30s and 15 or some S130s and that is about it. I remember going there in the old days (25 years ago) there would be 30 or so S30s.

Source for Headlight Retaining Ring
But it did add a little levity...to the string even though it was unintentional. I never thought you could get two pages of discussion on "Headlight Retaining Rings" as a texter would say OMG. I love this board. Happy Labor Day to all.....

At last at last at last
Nice PA car, if the PO has the original wheels hopefully he has the original hub caps too, the ones with the big D on them. $2K is a reall good price. It looks like a Euro front bumper on there too. I could be mistaken and just can't see the holes.

One of my favorites is back on ebay
I cried on that thread.... I was thinking "these guys are trashing a member's discription of his car". Oh well. Great job and I am glad to see it is already up over $10K

Unobtainium on ebay!
I got a used 78 without cracks.....in the rafters of my garage. I no longer own a 78 so I guess I can throw it up on ebay as "unobtainable" or whatever.

"Vintage" Z on eBay
Exactly what I was thinking.... Here in San Diego at Mossy Nissan in National City they restored a 1965 L320 Truck, they currently display it but if they were to sell, it would get the same description. A nice example regardless.

NZR - source for CA catalytic converters?

Do you plan on going to the Event at the Peterson AM in LA? I am just south of Chula Vista drop me a PM. I have plans to go up to the All Nissan meet on the 4th but if the other guys from the Z club don't go, I might not go.

"Fairlady" What exactly does it mean?
"And my Nostalgia always-wanted was a Nissan Be-1A" Friend restored a nice little green Be-1 for a customer of his Yokohama tuner shop, it was a cool little car. The engine was tiny but powerfull with its little turbo. Nissan had so many of those one or two year cars, like the Rasheed and Figaro.

"Fairlady" What exactly does it mean?
Some of my favorite Japanese version names are: Gloria which always looked the same as the Laurel or the Silva for 240SX, the Cefiro had a Maxima look to it or the Cima which was a Q45 and the Primera/G20 and Teana altima looks. Some that don't have US equals are the S-cargo, Figaro and my dream car Stagea wagon. S-cargo: http://images.google.com/images?q=Nissan+S-cargo&hl=en&um=1&sa=X&oi=images&ct=title

Battery keeps dying.
I had the same problem with my 78Z, it turned out to be a faulty pigtail on the ignition switch. I got a new key set installed and the problem was gone. What was happening was the old pigtail was keeping the car "on" thus drawing current. It would not cause any problems as long as the car was run every day or so....but let it sit for a week forget about it, the battery was dead.

240Z console
Pictures would help. I got two new 73 consoles in the original boxes but I need an early one with the dual slots for choke and acellerator, I need a new one of course I would trade a 73 for an early one. I got a brand new dual cable that I plan to use.
