Acetone in your gas!!!
It won't decrease mileage in the amount referred to earlier. It won't have a measurable effect at all. For anyone still convinced that acetone does work, I'd like to offer YOU my new medicine which I'm just bringing to market. It's called Plessybeaux, and it will instantly cure fever, headache, nasal congestion, gonorrhea, ingrown toe nails, acne, diabetes, male pattern baldness, ovarian cysts, loose stools, chlamydia, rhumatism, yellow fever, dengue fever, psoriasis, clubbed feet, menstrual cramps, dandruff, scoliosis, and itchy watery eyes. This is your chance to outsmart the medical community. They don't WANT you to know about Plessybeaux, but you're too smart for them. The naturally occuring vine we use to produce Plessybeaux grows deep in the heart of the Amazon rainforest, where nature's untapped resources have held the cure to all of these diseases and ailments for millenia. Choose from "Red Vines" or "Black Vines". Your choice, but either runs $5000 for a box of about 20 amazing vines filled with natural healing goodness. A bargain when compared a lifetime of suffering and kowtowing to the corrupt medical system that just wants to treat symptoms and not cure diseases. This product has not been tested or approved by the FDA

Any Racers recognize this 240-Z?
Looks like it was run at Laguna Seca. That tailpipe is designed to exit the exhaust away from where the sound measuring station is. LS has very strict sound requirements. Also Dando's is in the San Jose area, which is fairly close to LS.

I use channel locks as well. Whatever you use, just don't slip and scratch the shock shaft when you're tightening your new ones down. That'll kill the seal.

Nissan Decompensating
I have to disagree with you. Maybe it's just better on the competition side of things because that's where I'm focused, but have you seen a TRD catalog? Stickers and fart pipes is about all they have last time I checked. Now Nissan Comp has been a little weird lately since they moved to TN, I'll admit, but their catalog is relatively comprehensive. True, more and more of it is NLA, but when I'm driving a 37 year old car I don't expect to be able to get every last little widget and gizmo from the dealer. And I seem to remember a commercial just a few years back from Nissan with a bunch of Z's with personalized license plates leading up to the new Z car (can't remember if that was for the Z32 or Z33). When was the last time you saw an old Celica in a Toyota ad, or an RX3 in an RX8 ad? Doesn't happen. When was the last time you saw Honda restoring CVCC's and selling them as new cars? Doesn't happen. When was the last time you heard about a big Celica meeting at Toyota USA headquarters. I've never heard of that happening... Nissan might not have as much emphasis on the old stuff as they do on the new stuff, but come on, it's been 37 freakin years since the Z came out, and they have new products to push! I certainly wouldn't want my company to spend its $$$ catering to an extremely small market of customers who bought something 3 decades back. Now if you want to argue where the company is going and the Renault influence, that might be another topic, but this sour grapes stuff over the Z is a little beyond me.

Why no Datsuns in Historic series?
There is a fairly large contingent of VARA racers in SoCal who run Z's in the CP3 class or the CP3M (modified) class. From the stuff I've read it looks like their main competition is 911s, and the 911's try really hard to slant the rules in their favor. They are out there in vintage races though, maybe just not in OR. I think the 240s new eligibility in GT3 means that you'll probably see less of the 240s at the vintage races now that they don't have to get their asses handed to them in GT2. I'd imagine there will be quite a few coming out of retirement.

fuel cell
If you're not racing in a class that requires a fuel cell, I'd suggest you run the stock tank and then use a surge tank to prevent the FI pump from sucking air. A surge tank is easy to make and doesn't need to be very big at all. It will save you weight and the hassle of cutting the floor and installing the cell, and you won't need to screw with the sender, gauge, or filler neck either. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22524 I mounted a 12 gallon cell in my car and was amazed that the fuel cell was about 20 lbs heavier than the stock tank. Extra weight isn't making your car any faster.

L26 vs L28
Yep, so far as I have been able to tell that seems to be about accurate.
-
L26 vs L28
Should be good for about an 8% increase if all things are the same, compression ratio, etc.

What's the unmilled size of an E31 head?
Yep, 4.25" is what my machinist came up with when I was building my engine years ago. All the (gas) heads are the same thickness as I recall.

Ramflo filters on triple carbs?
Put stacks under the filters. With that style of filter I don't think your length choices are going to be too varied. You're going to need a fairly short stack.

Rack, struts, spring, bushings
I suppose you have already figured out that the Z has pretty massive bumpsteer so if you set the toe with the car in the air it would be way different when you set it on the ground again...

Cars crushed in street racing crackdown
Another clear example of "You're too stupid to understand what you should and should not be doing in a car, but we're going to give you a license anyway and then reduce your driving priveledges, for your safety of course." In my opinion if they're that incompetent or immature they shouldn't have a license at all.

Please help me ID this differential!!!
The one from Hybrid Z. That is a 200 or 240SX diff (I can't remember) that bj modified to accept the bolt in stub shafts.
-
Please help me ID this differential!!!
Stock is bolt in for a 72. There were some early clip ins in the 260 and 280 I believe, but not all of them were that way, and I think they had the stub integrated into the halfshaft. Then the went back to the original style if I recall, then they went to the clip in CV shafts. The clip in CV shaft is what you have a picture of, and it was retrofitted to accept the bolt in shaft following the procedure in the thread I linked to. There is really no benefit to one over the other in terms of function. In terms of maintenance I'd say that the clip in style is easier to deal with when you just want the halfshaft out of the way (working on the stub axle or the strut for instance). With the clip in style you can just unbolt the outside of the halfshaft from the companion flange and then use a prybar to pop the inner out of the differential and pull the whole thing out and get it out of the way quickly and easily.

Please help me ID this differential!!!
John's solution allows the stubs to be put into the diff and they clip into the side gears. Then you put the halfshafts in. This is also the way all R200's from 75 to 83 work (except the CV ones). The halfshafts do not have to be connected to the stubs, the two pieces can be installed separately. If you want to bolt in your shafts into the new diff there is a way to do that as well. The info on how to do it is in a thread on Hybrid Z here: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=114798 and bjhines contributed that info and I think the picture you show as well. I'm pretty sure its the same pic that I put into the other thread.

help removing drum
I always used a BFH that wasn't rubber. I found the corrosion between the hub and the aluminum drum to be the issue, and that you really have to whale on it sometimes to break it loose. After doing that a couple times and I went to rear disk...

Cars crushed in street racing crackdown
Let's say you had a home stereo that was stolen that you bought off of the back of a truck because I know a guy who did that once. If you're charged with posession of stolen property, do they take you and the stereo to a junkyard and smash it? Why should they then do that to a car, especially if only part of the car was stolen? I agree that they're setting an example and trying to scare the street racer morons. I just think they're overstepping their bounds in doing so. It's not that the street racers are in a defensible position in terms of their crimes. It's that the punishment is indefensible in my opinion.

Totally agree with you, this coming from a guy who thinks the same as you do about all of the above, and would also legalize drugs (all of them) and has a very close relative who was a heroin addict for decades. I hate the "you might feel differently if it happened to you" line of thinking, sorry 1 Bravo 6, but I really do. Just because something bad happens to me I'm supposed to throw reason out the window and do a complete 180 and start offering to give my rights away??? No thanks. I don't need gov't to protect me from myself, which is basically what this boils down to. Let people have as much freedom as we can possibly give them, and make the penalties for violating the fewer, less intrusive laws more severe on the criminals without violating our Constitutional rights. That's my idea of how it should be done anyway. Sometimes I feel like I'm one of about 4 people in the US who still feel this way...

Replacing S30 Rear Wheel Bearings
The copper washer is actually supposed to go under the nut, not where the bearings go. It was installed for just a few years to reduce noise. Details here: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=101811

help! manilfolds & linkage kit recommendations - tripple Dellorots
You should be able to change out the main rail to fit the arms that you have. I'm not familiar with the SK setup, but my Cannon had a small rail which is maybe 5/16" diameter or something like that, and the weber arms were just kind of crappy in general. I didn't like the way the arm attached to the rail and many of the original rod ends were rusted solid. I used a 10mm Mikuni rail by getting a piece of angle aluminum and drilling holes to fit the teflon bushings that come on the Mikuni rail. Then I just bolted the angle aluminum "towers" to the manifold. That worked, but it allowed the rail to flex a bit in the middle (this should also be a problem for anyone running a Mikuni manifold because they're supported the same way with a bushing on each end). Next step was to get some 10mm rod ends, which I have done, and I'm going to drill and tap the manifold which I think currently has smaller SAE bolts, and screw the rod ends directly into the manifold to hold the 10mm rail and I'm hoping that should be the last time I have to mess with that...

Cars crushed in street racing crackdown
Here in America we don't assume that people are going to misuse things. There is a relatively old argument for making cars that cannot exceed the speed limit, and you are basically restating that old argument. The point for me is that people should be able to own just about anything, and should only get in trouble when they MISUSE it. The gov't should not assume that it can only be misused. When it does all of our Z's will be on the chopping block. This kinda proves my point don't you think? Do you think the cops would have a new DARE car if he was driving a Hyundai at 135? What did he say when he booked the guy? "Thanks for the car". Not good people. Not good. Again, I'm not saying the driver should go unpunished at all, but this is basically a license to take whatever car they want. Jail time (LOTS) would be a more appropriate punishment in my opinion.
