NissanSport, thanks for allowing us to continue the subscriptions we started with SportZ. SportZ Thanks for sending me some great issues! From the sound of what has been said earlier in this thread by those in NissanSport, We could easliy add to S30 content by contibuting ideas for articles, articles themselves, raw information/pictures, notices of up-comming events, reporting on current events, or even the odd hint of where to look for the dirt on the new models...We know Art will work hard to publish what will generate interest-(Photos anyway!)or controversy, and we know he has a 240z project already started and probably close to paid for! 4. How would you like Nissan Sport to Honor the S30? The new magazine will have more coverage of more cars in more pages, what would you like to see to it have to honor the car that started all of this? I am glad that there will still be a magazine that will have coverage of the S30-even if it is in the back, behind the ads for "minute rice", if that is what it takes so be it. If my thoughts are not in line with yours, post, but remember, the first call of Nissan Sport is to have content for ALL Nissan enthusiasts. These are only suggestions, nothing says any will be implemented, thought about, reacted to, or even read by anyone at Nissan Sport, but by the same token, nothing says they won't either.

I have a couple of things to add, Answer emails-remember your answer is another shot to help someone to spend more of their money with you. Eight years ago I recieved an email with an absolutely idiotic question about my second ebay item (A fiat SCCA modified X/19) and I wrote a quick off the cuff smart-arse reply, Just before I sent the message I thought maybe this guy really doesn't know any better, and instead wrote and sent a friendly and helpful reply-I ended up having the person I wrote back spend $3700 for a car I told him was worth at least $2000, and leave great feedback. He bid against one guy who would have won the car for $550 if I had sent the smart arse note, and he had not been in the bidding. That nice note made me an extra $3150 that my smart arse coments would have kept in someonelses wallet! Yes I get my share of morons, but they have money just like everyone else, and I sell things on ebay to trade for it! Sometimes they ask questions that are just too much, then I ask for a phone number to discuss the situation with them-that usually stops the tire kickers and time wasters, and it really impresses those who are honestly asking questions-and these situation don't happen that often. Post realistic shipping and handling charges, Nothing angers anyone faster than paying a good price for something only to have the deal made idiotic by grossly over priced shipping-that absolutely insures a one or no time buy-I never go back-My patronage is not important to that seller. You build an expectation with every communication. I choose to help my customers by making sure I spend their money on shipping the way they would-that is part of outstanding customer service-and it gets past purchasers to contact you outside of ebay for what they are after-it sure easier to sell a "pull" than a "push." Once a customer knows what to expect, the only question they have is: "Have you got one of these?" When they know they are going to be treated well and that their patronage is valued, they come back time and time again. I have accounts with USPS (they supply free boxes, and free pickup-talk about convenient!), and Fedex (absolutely the cheepest way to ship almost anything large-just pack it up and drop it off at Kinkos(a fedex staffed location))! Between the two, I have the least amount of money, time, and energy to get something on its way to a customer who knows I am not playing games to get more money. Accounts are free and can be setup online or over the phone-all it takes is a few minutes. Will
  6. After talking to a guy from Alabama(REALLY!) about this, I was given a new perspective. My friend who proudly states and I quote: "I am from Alabama, the Worlds largest trailer park!" said that the seller is everbit as likely to get $150K for the car as he is $5-in ALabama. His logic (which not being from 'bama, and never having lived in a trailer, is somewhat foreign to me) is: "no selferspektin Alabamaian 'd give up a pack of smokes for that car, much less more!-now if it had at least one missin' wheel, replaced by a cndrblock, moe rust 'n paint, and a cutpile dash, we might have to talk! Rare Yard art is worth a perty penny, specially ifn it is the same year as the trailer behind it..." I guess I should say this conversation took place just after closing outside of a comedy club with the headliner-but he looked serious(ly drunk) to me... Will

Did you add to the low pressure side? It is labeled the suction side. If you tried to force freon in to the high pressure side you might get something like that-also have you verified the compressor. If you mix freon types(more improtantly the lubricants they hold) you could cause the compressor seals to distort... Was the system running when you were trying to charge it-sounds like you were fighting the . We have at least one AC guru on the board, I am sure he will chime in... Will OOPS, usually the receiver/dryer does have an intake and "exhaust" labeled. Look on the sides, top and bottom for an arrow.
  13. Maybe the capacitor discharge in the EI unit is not bleeding down when the car is shut down/loose connections-get and install spark checker in place of the coil wire and open the hood at night in the dark after a hot run(to see if the ign is still trying to make the car go-but with no gas, it won't) As Enrique said you have 12v ready even when ther starter isn't WIll

They are the NOS OEM Nissan factory tweeters that came with the factory sunroof/power steering bundle-says the seller! Will
  15. The site is a pass through listing that allows anybody to list anything for a fee. The "seller" may have wanted to use the car to advertise the site, and had no intention of selling the car...or not... Will

Alex, read every thread on this site before you look at another Z-you have chosen a scam! Do the all of the pictures show a restored car(missing/broken switch pull, a non-restored steeringwheel, stitched door panels, home made fuse box cover, overspray on the dash (and the cover over it) painted over hardware under the hood(strut bolts, cowl screws, almost everything on the carb side of the engine, Radiator was painted while installed)? Look closely at the pic of down the core support, looks like a wave or two at the union of the headlight bucket/fender/core support to me... Not to mention the missing VIN, Nissan NEVER released a Z with a factory sunroof, Power steering didn't come on a Z until 1979, and the wheels are from an early 300Z. This is a quick repaint on a highly questionable car, couple that with no pictures of the notorious areas, a 0 feedback seller with three other cars that are high dollar with very lacking ads, (with the '80 Mercedes coincidently having a high bidder with the same name that is on the paperwork pictured in the ad), ! don't look, just run!!!! Will
  17. I converted the blue 2+2 in my gallery long ago when the original tube blocked and wiped the cam and several rockers. I replaced the damaged parts ran the internal oiling (blocked off the tube holes) with the original oil pump, the engine ran an additional 227K before giving up due to a burst radiator hose while accelerating on the high side of 100mph-then I went to an L28ET. Does the application of window tint hurt the value of an early Z? In a otherwise pristine Z, will the fact that it has tinted windows hurt its value? Please ignore the fact that I started numbering the choices, and didn't finish that way-among other errors. Try typing with a laptop and an eighteen month old key pushing Datsun fanatic in your lap-especially when his Idea of a great poll is: What is the preferred food to eat/leave/smear in/on a progressing Datsun interior as an exercize in giving Daddy more practice in cleaning surfaces and maintaining a bug free paint Zone? 1) Dry cerial 2) A thick and gooey PBJ sandwich, 3) Chicken nuggets 4) Little Debbie Swiss Cake Rolls 5) Cut fruit 6) Anything I manage to sneak into the car 7) What ever will make the most proof that I was in the car with food when daddy was underneath the car...
  19. How do you evaluate the condition of used parts? Here is how I grade used parts. <O:p</O:p The lower the number the more time and materials it will take to put the part in exlempory shape suitable for use in a stock class show and gold medalion winner-with no loss in points. <O:p</O:p <O:p</O:p 10) Plastic parts need only to be mounted. If they are not NOS then they are as perfect as the day they were issued from Nissan, sheet metal parts need priming and paint and have absolutely no damage(in many cases better than what came from the dealer). <O:p</O:p9 ) Plastic needs only light cleaning, or very slight attention to be a 10. Sheet metal may have sanding scratches in the current paint that need to be filled, or paint that needs to be feathered or removed, but no rust, dents, perforations, previous repairs or other damages. 8) Plastic needs thorough cleaning, fine scratches polished out, and maybe some touchup to factory applied finish(silver paint) Sheet metal will have three or fewer small(less than 1" diameter shallow dents(less than 1/8") in the low relief Non-transitional areas(dents are only in flat areas or low crown areas, not on edges, corners or ridges) . <O:p</O:p 7) Plastic has a small few dents that can be massaged out with careful use of heat or solvent, and maybe some touchup to factory applied finish (silver paint). Sheet metal may have a several small dents (1") but they are shallow(less than 1/8"), it may also have slight powdery surface rust, but no rust in hard to reach areas, and no pitting. <O:p</O:p 6) Plastic has hairline cracks, but NO missing pieces, it could be repaired with careful application of adhesive. Sheet metal parts may have larger dents in non-transitional areas, and slight rust scale, but no rust in hard to reach areas. <O:p</O:p 5) Plastic parts have scratches or gouges that require filling in addition to hairline cracks and will require a complete repaint. Any previous repairs are not cosmetic issues when the part is installed. Sheet metal has large dents or dents in transitional areas, some pitting from rust, and some rust in hard to reach areas. 4) Plastic parts are broken in a piece or three, but all pieces are included (metal trim may be slightly deformed-no creases), and will hold glue May have previous repairs that need attention. Sheet metal parts are rusty and dented, but do contain many areas that would be devoid of damage and suitable for patch panels. <O:p</O:p 3) Plastic parts are broken and there are a few small pieces of plastic are missing(metal trim will be creased), may have previous repairs that need attention. Sheet metal will have a couple of areas suitable for patch panels. <O:p</O:p 2) Plastic parts are missing several pieces (may include metal trim), may have previous repairs that need attention sheet metal will contain an area suitable for a patch panel. 1) At least the parts came from a Z!-missing or dented more than not, may be a restoration candidate one day, but not in my book! <O:p</O:p I have been collecting parts for 24 years, and some ebay sellers have claimed that the sheet metal and plastic parts are so scarce that my scale is out of touch. <O:p</O:p The scarcity of a part has NOTHING to do with the condition of a part in my book. Scarcity does have to do with the minimum acceptable condition.<O:p</O:p I bought three hoods in the last three months of last year for $75 or less that were an 8 or better with one being a 10, If I can find three hoods in that shape in three months, in the Southeast, then parts in this condition are out there. That is not to say all parts are that way, but, if a part is truely scarce, I will accept a lower quality part, but it is still a lower quality part! I recently bought a JDM '72 fuse box cover/console lid assembly-a part I have spent several years looking for-it is a solid 8. It needs cleaning, some slight buffing, and the chrome accent on the beauty rim needs to be repainted. It is as rare a cosmetic series two part as I believe there is(here in the USA), but it is still an 8 as I received it.<O:p</O:p Will

The floor panels will fit all of the S30 2 seat cars, '70-'78. The frame rails and floor support rails were different(the floor support on a 240Z only goes about half way to the back, while the later Zs floor support goes all the way back), but they are interchangeable (using the later parts in an early car will add more strength, but it will not be correct cosmeticly). The base is angled, and the mirror can be rotated, but the combination of the change in geometry and the flat mirror make the use of the left mirror on the right pretty much a cosmetic installation, and not a useable one. Victor had this setup on his 240Z at one time. Will
