  1. I wonder if the inserts/hardware could be adapted to the "Wagon Wheel" six spoke 280ZX rims? Will
  2. If the rims are old they are probably 14" Recently, similar rims are being made in 15", 16", and 17". Will

He made a great case for understanding and preserving animals, and a better case for what one determined and passionate man can achieve through hard work. Will
  4. I bought new clips similar to those Stephen has, with appropriate crimp connectors so that I would make up an oem looking harness that would be easily removeable, and have much greater longevity. They were not expensive, allowed me to have new components with current materials, and continuous runs of wire between the connectors. Will
  5. Welcome to the club! The wheels can be polished to a chrome like finish, and you can find the diameter by looking at the tires(they will be marked-probably 195/75/14). Will
  6. There was a vinyl roof as an available option on all of the early Z cars. Will
  7. unless it was done early in the cars life, it is pretty small, removing emblems, replacing a hatch and changing out taillights would take less energy than changing out the engins and the firewall data stamp-the numbers match as I recall. Will
  8. Yep your bushings are dry/worn. Lube then and that will take carof the noise for a while. Depending on how long this has been happening and how ;omg the fan has run while howling, it may be time for a new one, or to take the motor to an ALternator/Starter shop fpr a bushing replacement.bearing upgrade. The last time I had one done it was $30 to have bearings put in. the fan was less noisy and put out noticeably more air(even over the output of a non howling fan) as well. Will
  9. Victor, He got HIS Datsun Roadster at fifteen months-I'm not sure some Datsun stickers on a big wheel would even rate a first look to him-still it would say Datsun, he might be impressed...He doesn't have a Big Wheel-I know I am depriving him! He got the 2000 instead-something about knowing the men from the boys, and buying him the right toy the first time! I want him to learn-"you don't touch a Datsun untill you you know what you are doing!-he should learn on somthing unimportant like you know one of the non-discript cars...He gets to work in Datsun Alley(the Garage) when he gets a little more competent-like after lunch ! Actually there is a local car show tomorrow, we will go to that and go from there! Will
  10. You have the type that came with your car originally, but any will fit. Welcome to the club by the way! Will

Welcome! Congratulations on owning a car that is turely rare in the USA, a 260Z and a 2+2 at that! Will
  12. I am using brass ends with stainless fasteners or quick clamps. I cna't find a picture of the particulars, and don't have the pieces handy at the moment. Will
  13. Yep, the consortiums step in, buy a company for its name and fill its product line with high margin low quality visually appealing crap! Will
  14. You have never heard of Cerwin Vega? You are showing your age! They are NOT the same company they were before being bought out. Will
  15. Thanks, They THUMP! Actually I tuned them for flat response, and didnot build in an attenuation to make the bass stronger at specific frequencies. Will
  16. Black smoke-too rich blue smoke valve guides-or oil control rings-use a timed compression test to figure out which. How many miles have you put on the car in the last week or so(and since you have owned it). If it is less than 100, straighten out the carbs and start driving. A car that has been sitting can leak oil bast the seals and take a while to burn it all off. I routinely put thin high detergent oil in my cars(those with "sticky" oil) when I get them-that usually means they burn a good bit of oil until the second or third oil change, and they have less chance of popping out a valve retainer and creating a problem worse than blue stinky exhaust. Check the condition of your current oil. Will
  17. Why do you tink we started with the smaller of his cars? He demanded ownership of my '68 2000 the moment it came to the house. Check my gallery... Will
  18. This afternoon I came to the conclusion it was time to teach the boy to work on cars. I came to this decision because I recently realized those pesky elves were not getting my Z back together and if it was to be it was upto me to get everything else out of the way. That means when I have Daddy duty on a rainy day and the Garage beckons, we could spend a guilt free hour or so out there. To get to that point I have to make the garage less of a saftey issue, and Thomas more at home with what goes on out there. Today was "show Thomas what to do" day. I bought this car for him before he was born, and it has been in his room ever since. He has pushed and ridden it all over. I started slow, and with only one tool-a screwdriver. Before I knew what had happened-in less than 10 minutes, and with only a screwdriver, he had the engine out! Picture one: "I get to take this apart-YEEEHAW! Picture two: Remove a sparkplug so I can get the engine out! Picture 3: he just dropped the block on his toe-I have to spend some more time on saftey-he has a bad case of "I don't need no stinking instructions"! Will
  19. I didn't know rubber bands came in that size and blackROFL ! Will
  20. I would chuck them in the lathe and take the tops off in a hurry, that would leave a smooth surface that you could use that 20k paper on, but Aluminum would clog it up in the first spin. Will
  21. Blowing on the part would do more than 20k grit, notebook paper is in the neighborhood of 2000 grit if I rememeber correcly-I don't think you will need finer than 800 on aluminum wheels. Will
  22. OK, I finally got my camera, campact flash card, charges batteries, ZX, and my brain all at the same place at the same time, here is what I did. 2 10 inch Cerwin Vega!(before the buyout) woofers in a box (I did the math and got the correct volume behind them) fitted into the fender., carpeted the box to match the floors and roof panel, and painted the grills to match the plastic. Will
  23. Just don't make me remind you that you said that so you can tell me you lied...:stupid: It'll take the top off the grooves, not make the bottom deeper!-sand across the grooves for the fastest removal Will
