L24 & L28 question
While the caarbs are simpler to diagnose in the case of trouble, the EFI is more of a "turn the key and it runs right every day" situation. Setting up the 2.8 with your carbs shouldn't be too dificult(check Brian Longs Datsun Garage), and will keep the engine compartment looking stock, setting up the efi means you will need to mount a highpressure fule pump, and modify some plumbing, mount the ecm and cut a hole in the firewall for the harness to pass through, mount the other parts of the efi system(injector resistors, fuel pump relay, AFM, ...) If you plan on driving the car every day, the reliablity of efi is hard to beat, but if you want to keep the car looking stock, the carb setup will definitely work. Will

Paint usually does a great job protecting chrome. The last set of talbots I bought were about $65 each. Will

Good Z parts shopping off I95!
No, that reference to that place was found in the archives here, I have PM'd the poster, but I am still waiting for a reply. I also spoke to Mike Powers, the Parts Manager at my local Nissan dealer(who hails from that neck of the woods, and is quite familiar with the area-as I am sure you locals probably know) and he didn't remember any such area on that stretch of road-though he did mention Tidewater might have a parts car or two. I am suprised that no suggestions have come from the Carolinas, with the Triad Z club, I'da thunk a little something something would have been in that area. Will

One more bounce before I go-I have heard there is another Z place in Chesapeake, the Z center or something like that... Will

btw...
in a nutshell, pull everything connected to the engine via the engine harness, you will use the complete setup. Buy a running donor, and the ods are you won't need anything else other than a 2" hole saw, and some plumbing to adapt the non injection gas tank to the new to the car. You will need the fuel pump, ecm, engine harness, AFM, fuel pump relay. With a running donor, move everything that the engine requires to run. As I said, there are several writeups on the web that give you what you are asking for-the engine by its self ain't gonna do it. If you don't get everything else, you will have to replace the systems you left out, and that will add complexity to getting it running.. Will

Series I 240z mirrors
Zak's Z The OEM mirrors (Nissan part number 96301-E4600) are still available through the dealer, what you see everywhere else is with a markup. The last one I bought was around $65-last year-currently 67.10 plus shipping from Pinnacle Nissan. Enigma, Those look like painted Talbot mirrors!

Rim questions
From the tire rack... The offset of a wheel is the distance from its hub mounting surface to the centerline of the wheel. The offset can be one of three types. Zero Offset The hub mounting surface is even with the centerline of the wheel. Positive The hub mounting surface is toward the front or wheel side of the wheel. Positive offset wheels are generally found on front wheel drive cars and newer rear drive cars. Negative The hub mounting surface is toward the back or brake side of the wheels centerline. "Deep dish" wheels are typically a negative offset. If the offset of the wheel is not correct for the car, the handling can be adversely affected. When the width of the wheel changes, the offset also changes numerically. If the offset were to stay the same while you added width, the additional width would be split evenly between the inside and outside. For most cars, this won't work correctly. We have test fitted thousands of different vehicles for proper fitment. Will

Numbers matching Series I early 1970
There were several different keys, but a worn lock isn't usually picky! Will

Open the trim panel from the inside, and it is pretty easy. Just try any z key you have, if the lock is worn, it will probably work. Will

Hybrid Z has a couple of tech articles on the swap, and there are others on the web too. It isn't a hard thing to do-pretty much a motivated weekend if you have all of the right parts, tools and properly chilled liquid refreshment!! Will

Good Z parts shopping off I95!
Tom, I found the East CoastZ contact in searching the forums, and I have contacted members who have posted about other contacts in the area-one on US 1 near woodbridge VA(very close to 95-but I haven't nailed down the specifics. My plan is to call this week to verify the business hours, and visit on the way up(Sunday/Monday) or back(Thursday/Friday). I saw the ad and was going to contact the member, but I don't want to harvest the parts of his car that would make it attractive to someone who would want the whole car. I will not be in a position to transport anything too large home-though I do have a Fedex account! Will

Good Z parts shopping off I95!
I am heading to Washington DC from Savannah,GA. next week, and I am asking for suggestions as to Z Parts/roadster parts suppliers that I could visit on my way up and/or back down I95. I don't mind going an hour or two off 95, and I will be taking some tools, so even a U-pull it or a club members parts car is fair game. I am most interested in oem cosmetic parts, but for the sake of missing pristine part... Have those off you in SC, VA and the DC area got any really good local parts sources for suggestions? Thanks! Will

cans some one tell me!
No you don't, nudge, nudge, wink, wink, know what I mean, know what I mean...I have an extra, and the other parts for the R200 upgrade as well-even a couple of the pumpkins-but shipping may be painful-let me know if you are interested. but, for a local source, search for a rearend, then call to see if it has already been pulled... Fairlady...not an issue, just post pictures as you go... Will

Anyone Know of This '70 240Z In Lake Forrest, CA?
It looks to me like he doesn't know what original condition is- To the best of my knowledge all 240Zs came with a front bumper, rubber trim on the rear bumper, a better aligned, non-vented hood, a dent free lower valence, grills on the rear deck, a single chrome and stainless door mirror, no overspray on the front combination light and side marker seals, front grill, and wiper boots. Add that to no pictures of theengine compartment, and interior and you have probably got a quick tape-up style paintjob which meant the beauty is only skin(paint film) deep. I would have to have a looksee myself to be convinced the parts weren't put on a driver, and a quick cosmetic job done. The price begs questioning too. If it was suitable to restore, it could be a good candidate, but there isn't nearly enough in the ad to tell. Will

Best Buy Me color?
'DOH! Look at your chrome, wheels and trim, and pick a color to compliment them, dark blue shows off perfect chrome better than any other color, but black is good too, if your bright work is in less than perfect condition, choose a color that will not highlight a contrast, but blend in. Will

I found this thing!
All of My very rare, Super-Highend, OEM Suspension tuners are still available, I have sold them once, but the guy returned them because he was afraid of the massive performance gain they gave him-18Gs of cornering force was just to much on poor guy! They now have been organic media blasted, and are ready for polishing, powder coating, annodizing, or just installation. These babys now can look as great as they perform! For those of you that held the dirt and cobwebs as the deal breakers, I saved them in a ziplock, and it will be included as well! Installation takes only minutes, a 1/2" drive socket wrench(hit them with the side of the head, that damn square on the front makes 'em fly off, and then if they didn't embed in your head, you gotta hunt 'em down-seem they handle flying through the air real good too-no extra charge for that! The tire iron works well too if you are in apinch for adding performance! Will
